Still trying to get through my absolutely insane backlog and I’m realizing that maybe I should be a bit more picky with the stuff I buy. Currently playing School Girl Zombie Hunter… which is about as good as you’d expect a JRPG with that title to be hahaha. I’ve just been skipping the storyline and just shooting up zombies.

Even though I really do need to curb some of my game buying impulses, I know myself well enough to know I’m not going to be able to hold back if the PS Store has a Halloween sale tomorrow.

I mean, I guess it’s better than doing yet another playthrough of BG3? Although… I’ll probably do another BG3 run before the end of the year and play as an Origin character instead of Tav or Durge.

Hell yes! I'm overdue for another playthrough too! I also have never done an origin character yet.

Aaahh, I somehow missed responding to this! Honestly, the main reason I want to do an origin character run is because that may be the only way I don't romance Astarion. My second playthrough I was like... I just romanced him. I'm going for a resist Durge run. I know I'm not going to ascend him. I've already gone through his spawn romance line. I should probably be with someone else. Was going to go for Gale, but then Astarion was just RIGHT THERE. Felt really bad when I broke it off with my sweet, yappy wizard tho. Lowkey wish I was a PC gamer just so I could have the poly mod and romance ALL OF THEM.

Sorry, I have total BG3 brain rot, haha.

lolz Everytime I romance Astarion, he just randomly leaves me when I reach Baldur's Gate! I've romanced Gale all the way to the end a few times though... he's a totally nerd and I love that! I was super mean to him though the first time lol

I had to delete like a whole part of this post before I spoiled anything for you lol But yes, I love my wizard too.

Omg, really? I feel like I'm an expert at all things Astarion at this point, so I may know why that's happening. Gonna put it in a spoiler in case you don't want the spoilers!

In Act 2, are you doing the quest where you have to kill Yurgir for Raphael? You should first see Raphael at the Last Light Inn and there will be a conversation about Astarion's scars. You can next find him being a weirdo outside of the mausoleum/entrance to the Gauntlet of Shar. You'll strike a deal with him where he promises to tell Astarion what his scars say if we kill an old enemy of his, which is Yurgir. Pretty sure Astarion has to be in your party for all this to happen. I always have him in my party, because I always need pookie by my side, so I'm not sure how these interactions with Raphael goes if he's not in your party. Anyway, Yurgir is hanging out in the Gauntlet of Shar and you have to kill him. You don't actually have to battle him, though. You can persuade him to kill himself by passing some checks.

I THINK if you run into Araj, the blood obsessed drow, and you don't make Astarion drink her blood he won't break up with you in Act 3, even if you didn't kill Yurgir. I know for sure you get his confession scene and solidify the relationship by sticking up for him with Araj. However, I personally prefer the confession scene after you complete the Yurgir quest. It's much better imo.

You can spoil away for me! I've done three full playthroughs now, and outside of that I've watched a looooot of content and I look at the different BG3 subreddits frequently!

ooooo! I never knew about araj! Wow I've done like 5 playthroughs too. New goal for my current playthough then (:

So if you get spicey with Gale, and you promise him you will never let him use that orb, and then tell him to use the orb when you reach the Netherbrain... his reaction is like soooo sad! He feels sooo betrayed and calls you out for it. Then when he does go up to kill the netherbrain, he does the most Gale thing ever lol. His ghost message at the end in camp is extra sad too if you romanced him. You can steer Gale in multiple different directions too, and one of them involves making him a god. (I could have become a god with him, but I tried to get a threeway with Halsin, and it totally backfired.) Kind of like how I turned Astarion to more of a neutral good in one of my playthroughs once.

Araj is the absolute worst!

Have you met her on any playthroughs? She’s in Moonrise Towers on the ground floor on the left hand side. She’s a straight up bitch to Astarion, which is why I can’t stand her hahaha. You can also randomly come across her in Baldur’s Gate if you agree to her other request when you first meet her.

Gale really is a sweetie. On my second playthrough I started romancing both him and Astarion in Act 1. When I solidified the relationship with Astarion and had to break things off with Gale it was actually really sad and made me reconsider calling things off. I’ve gotten both the endings where he stays a mortal and becomes a teacher and the one where he becomes a god! In my last playthrough I did an embrace Durge run, but I wasn’t a straight up murder hobo and instead was more of a manipulative chaotic evil sociopath. Pushed everyone to become the worst possible versions of themselves. Helped Astarion ascend, killed Isobel and let the Last Light Inn turn into Hell, gaslit Jaheira into joining the party after nuking the Last Light Inn only to kill her and Minsc at the murder tribunal, practically forced Shadowheart to kill the Nightsong, and encouraged Gale to use the crown of karsus (which imo is definitely not his good ending). That run was…. Something.

I didn’t know doing a three way with Halsin could backfire if you’re with Gale! Astarion is okay with it, but it does make you feel bad when he’s like “…is this because we’re not having sex?”. However, Astarion is NOT okay with you taking up Mizora on her crazy hellscape sex offer. At least, spawn Astarion isn’t. Oddly enough, she didn’t proposition me on my evil run, so I don’t know if ascended Astarion is cool with it or not.

I love how detailed this game is and how you can do multiple runs with hundreds of hours sunk into it and still have tons of content that you’ve never experienced.

hahaha That is so brutal! lol I only did one really evil run as dark urge, and I was a total murderer. It almost broke my heart though watching everyone's reactions to it lol.... This game is the only game I've really played that can do that to you. haha I love your love for Astarian! Almost every time I go to the patio at the club I frequent, I'm in a circle of people chatting about their favorite BG3 characters and its so awesome!

Evil durge runs really are tough. I felt horrible most of the way through and it was definitely my shortest run, because I didn’t even want to interact with my good aligned characters and face their judgement. By the end of the game I was basically just interacting with Astarion and Minthara, since they were my evil cheerleaders haha.

BG3 is an absolute masterpiece. I’ve played a loooot of games over the years and this is the one that has impacted me the most.

I’ve actually seen some clips! I follow Neil on social media, since I also have a bit of a celebrity crush on him and I’ve seen bits and pieces from stuff he’s posted!
