Before their first album came out and anyone knew who they were Trick Pony was travelling around performing in malls. They were doing Mall of America when I happened to be there. Saw two whole songs while the lady I was with was in a clothing store. Thus ends the entire history of my 'live performance' viewing.

I don't like loud noises and I've always pictured concerts as deafeningly loud so I've avoided them my whole life.

I have seen too many to list. But the BEST is still Pink Floyd. Saw them twice which was the last 2 times they toured the US. It was for the Momentary Lapse of Reason and Division Bell tours. Saw them both times at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. Just incredible.

Get to see Coal Chamber soon so looking forward to that one.

Love this thread. I love live music, and regularly go see live music. Often go by myself as sad as that is! I kept a gig diary for a long time. I should dig that out.

Best ever gigs have been Prince last year and Radiohead 1999. With Prince is was one of his infamous after shows, small lounge venue in this small part of Australia. Prince, full NPG line up and 200 funksters getting our groove on. Incredible. Radiohead was similar in that is was a small club venue in Paris. I was smashed on something at the time, the just rocked up and played for a couple of hours. Still blows my mind thinking about it.

We get most international acts playing here, but the venues are small. Perfect. I will be seeing the XX soon - cannot wait for that. Plus lots of local bands. Oh and The Kooks next month. :)

Just adding some recent live performances..

Pusha T
J. Cole

3OH!3
Aerosmith
Animal Collective
Bear in Heaven
Blink182
Brittany Spears (I was 9)
Crystal Castles (great performance but shitty fans)
No Doubt
The Ruby Suns (love)
Y La Bamba (little known band... amazing live... recorded doesn't do them justice)
and, the occasional random local band
... my list is so small compared to some of you :crybaby: i need to get out more!

I guess I will count the time I saw only one member of the band playing, but he asked me to use the music instrument I was playing at the time. It was Steven Tyler (singer of Aerosmith). There was a mob of people and a camera crew following him so I ended up having to stand 2 feet away while he played "Dream On" on the keyboard while singing. I had checked out that keyboard with my military ID in a military base sound room. Steven Tyler autographed the keyboard and it was quickly taken away while I still had it checked out with my military ID. The other member of Aerosmith that talked to me before the mob showed up told me "you're going to go deaf playing that loud" as a joke.

I also helped set up the stage for a concert on a ship on a military base (the stage work was probably the weirdest work I ever had to do in the military, but I will probably post the details on a different thread).

Another concert was on my ship. Both of those concerts had something like 10 different groups of performers, including Jeff Foxworthy and "The New Miami Sound Machine" which is 3 girls mentored by Gloria Estefan. This concert was in Fort Lauderdale, FL and was nationally televised.

The movie "Tears of the Sun" (Bruce Willis) was also filmed on my ship, and somone I worked with was an extra in the movie. He made friends with the cameraman, and while we were on deployment the cameraman e-mailed him photos of Pamela Anderson during the making of his next movie (Baywatch Hawaii).

We also had a very strange USO show, while we were out at sea, that consisted of John Elway, Robin Williams and a female porn star (not sure her name and didn't know who she was before that but she was advertised as a big-name porn star). I found out the Robin Williams stand-up comedy was uploaded to youtube in 3 parts, so maybe I will post those on another thread.

Took my daughters. And will have to saw TBP rocked.

Wow some of you have seen A LOT of different bands/singers. haha

I unfortunately don't get the opportunity to see as many people live as I would like to, BUT I have seen Coldplay (my favorite band) live three times. I love them so much and think they are amazing live.

I cried when I saw them at the MGM in Vegas. I rarely cry, but at one point Chris Martin ran really close up to the audience and he was really close to me.... I just started gushing tears because I love that man so much and it was the end of the show they were singing "Fix You".

I recently saw them at the Hollywood Bowl (their most recent tour) and the show that they put on was soooo beautiful with all kinds of bright lights. Everyone in the audience was given bracelets that all lit up different colors during one point of the show.. so it was dark and you would see all these different color lights in the audience. It was sooso beautiful! and of course they put on a great show there too.

Anyway, I'd HIGHLY recommend anyone going to see them if they have thought about doing so before and are ever given the chance to. :)
