.....Advertise? Streammate has TV spots, Live Jasmine has radio ads.

Streaming is really expensive because bandwidth is really expensive so the costs for the site increase with each single viewer.

MFC's strategy has always been to have small rooms with high tippers, they give priority to quality traffic over quantity. They maximize their revenue that way.

Unless they come up with a way to get carefully targeted traffic from their affiliates they will end up paying through their teeth for cheap traffic from places like India, Africa, South America, where people don't spend. Which increases the site's running costs while putting no money in their pockets.

I personally like Chaturbate and Streamate's strategy better, but I do understand why MFC works differently.

Streamate also pays models a significantly lower percentage of revenue than MFC to allow that advertising to happen. Some feel it's worth it but some don't.

How would you describe their strategy? I would've assumed they face the same economics and thus the same disincentives against advertising broadly.

It seems they rely on their models and userbase to advertise for them through their own social media/etc. MFC also sponsors a lot of adult conventions/trade shows, if you consider that advertising.

They have a buttload of traffic regardless, as @SaffronBurke said maybe they just don't feel the need to post exploitative advertisements out there, or worse yet, record shows and put them out on tube sites like Streamate does. (Many people think/assume/accuse MFC of doing this, but they do not.)

Chaturbate's model is different. They advertise but they have 2 sources of income: their models, and third party ads they place around the model's feed. I haven't looked into it but I assume most of these ads are pay per click or pay per impression, which means they have a secondary stream of revenue from the traffic they pull.

Models don't see a dime of the income that is generated through the ads placed around their feed.

As of Streammate, I don't know much, but I think I read they sell the recordings to third party sites which is why they focus so much on the feed's quality.

MFC is the only site that only profits from their camgirls. The only thing they sell is tokens. No ad space or recordings. But I like CB's strategy better than MFC because even when it is less ethical, I have 15x as much traffic and I make about 4x as much money as I did on MFC.

What exactly would MFC advertise about? That crappy search? The confusion if a model even allows privates or not? Conversations in the lounge?

But I have a Streamate bias

I don't think MFC can be matched for the quality of their models

All popular cam sites sites will have some great models of course, but I don't think they can match MFC In terms of numbers

Right this moment there are 1486 models online on MFC and 1761 online on Streamate. It's a difficult argument in general since a huge portion of models are working both sites at the same time.

But my point still remains; That terrible search feature, nobody can honestly defend that terrible searching function.

I've noticed that Streamate avoids sponsoring adult conventions. Why is that?

Streamate tends to allow their proxy sites to promote during conventions. Brazzers Live, Mofos Live, (something porn Live).

That's a bold statement to make as a mere member of cam sites...
Well, every time I go a site that reviews camsites, their # 1 choice is always either SM or LJ. Never seen any rate MFC as their # 1 choice. ( They are compensated for the reviews)

Ok... that doesn't indicate anything about the differing revenue streams of any of the sites. Try to avoid making blanket statements as the one I quoted when you have no actual evidence/proof.

I mean, if anything, MFC would be *saving* money by not paying people to write favorable reviews for their site. #JustSayin'

Oh, I'll have a go at it.

Search for sexy.

Shows model names matching sexy. Shows model topics that have 'sexy' in them. Shows all models who have tagged themselves as sexy. Shows newsfeeds from models containing the word sexy.

Does same for any keyword you care to mention. Cute, Sweet, Young, Shaved, Brunette, Petite, Anal, Curvy, Dance... Any keyword.

Then if you're feeling lazy, mfc has a dedicated popup search box just for Tags, and another just for Topics. Both can be sorted by scoring system, # of models using that keyword, or just alphabetical by model.

chrome_2016-10-21_20-47-16.png

If you're not feeling creative enough to come up with your own search terms they also have a model explorer. Fairly idiot friendly way of narrowing down models by a wide variety of topics.

chrome_2016-10-21_20-48-57.png

But wait, there's more. If you act now they'll also toss in 'Models You May Like' based on any model you already know you like.

chrome_2016-10-21_20-50-20.png

But suppose you visited a model a while back and now can't remember her. How do you find her if none of those methods work? Well, they also added a Room History of every model you've ever visited, whether they be on your friends list, bookmarked, or neither.

chrome_2016-10-21_20-53-28.png

In addition to that they also have Archives of every single private message, models room chat log, tokens tipped, and privates taken you've ever done on the site going back to the day you signed up. And they have a live list of models in group shows if that's your thing.

So please, enlighten us how other sites are better in their searching? What search feature is MFC lacking?

I had a problem the other day

I've got an interest in learning Russian, I wanted to talk to a Russian model to see if I could at least have the bare bones of a conversation, but there's only a euro filter, can't get it down to countries

As best I could tell, if the model put their location as Russia and someone searches Russia, they wont come up unless they've put it as a tag

If you're from Europe (outside the UK) and want to find someone from your own country to talk to, difficult to find them.

That's exactly my point. I'm not searching for "BOOBS" or "Sexy" like the guy that wanted to teach me something. I'm an avid hardcore roleplayer. That means my searching begins with roleplay but also includes language, outfits, sub/dom and a whole bunch of criteria. The main issue with MFC is the limitation of tag and room header searching. Streamate can parse the model bio for words too which is why in cases like mine has an advantage.

Sounds like MFC is not the right match for you. Token sites dont tend to cater to fetishes because models focus on appealing to a large base. Your fetishes sound so specific you should stick to SM.

All sites have their pluses and minuses, but I agree, the search function on MFC is just bizarre to me. BUT, MFC is also more of a hangout site. OKAY, question about MFC because I'm not on it. Do people like or dislike the "most popular rooms" feature. To me it seems like a freeloaders paradise. They just have to check the top 3 rooms and BAM sex show. No need to wait, or look through other models, etc.

It's a way for lower camscore models to get exposure. Chaturbate bases their default sorting with this popular rooms method and I think models still make just fine money on there. Freeloaders exist no matter what And having more ways to get your room in the spotlight is a good thing.
