On Monday, May 6th, a 14 year old girl in a nearby town commited suicide. No one knows why at this point in time. She hanged herself from the bleachers behind the school. I didn't know her or her family, but I am saddened by the tragic loss of a young life. I don't have any answers or magic cures for the problem, but if you know someone that is depressed.....talk to them, spend time with them or try to get them some help. Just do something before it's too late.

I'm very sorry to hear that.
I think every day is more difficult for kids and teenagers. Yes, we had bullies in school, but now with Facebook, cellphones, I don't know... it makes everything more intense.
I don't know if she was experiencing bullying, that's just an assumption.

Seeing this thread really hits home for me. Silence is a scary thing and what goes on behind the closed doors of a persons mind can provide insight into their world. I wish I had seen the signs when my best friend hung himself at 14. No one ever thinks that an aspect of someones home life or maybe someone dealing with their own internal hell is serious until it proves to be reality.

This is really a message to anyone that possesses a heart. Pay attention to the signs that are being shown to you. Someone may not straight up TELL you they are depressed or suicidal but mannerisms can sometimes speak louder than words. Talking always helps and when someone feels like they are alone, a hand to hold can be the best thing you could ever give them.

May this girl RIP...

You will never know why. It is impossible to know anyone well enough to answer that question. My brother killed himself after a night at the movies with some friends.

If you are troubled by a suicide, even of someone you do not know, take a moment to call a suicide-prevention hotline. They are there to help you, too.
