I finally took the plunge and bought World of Warcraft, I know a lot of people on here play, or used to, and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for good add-ons for it.

haven't played since early last year but...I'd look for something in inventory management first.

Just go to http://wow.curse.com/ and browse through shit and try stuff that sounds useful

Thanks, I'll give that a look.

I downloaded the free trial a couple weeks ago, then upgraded Saturday, so I haven't had it too long.
I'm sure I'll wind up getting Wrath and Cataclysm at some point.

I leveled from 1-70 before I even knew about addons. Now I use a bar mod (Bartender4), Minimap mod (Chinchilla), Mail mod (easymail), Buff frame mod (Satrina Buff Frames), Chat mod (Prat), whisper mod (WIM (wowinstant messange)), Raid/party frame mod (Xperl) and a few more for raiding and watnot. Oh a good one is also Fluidframes.

I play on eldre thalas* Horde and my name is Moonunit hit me up if you ever need advise.

Well, I use- Atlas Loot, Altaholic (very useful if you have more than one toon on a server), Bartender, Healbot when on my druid, Omen threat meter, Deadly Boss Mods, Sliceadmiral on my rogue, sexymap, and probably some others that I can't think of.

Who the fuck am I? I dunno. But I highly recommend Deadly Boss Mods, Bartender, and XPerl to get you started. I also love my Quartz, Titan Panel, and Grid. If you start hearing about meters and decide to find out what they are, Recount is the most used but I personally opt for Skada because Recount was abusing my memory. One that doesn't seem to be used a lot but I find really nice is Sell-O-Matic2. It provides you with a button on vendor windows that you can click to automatically sell any grays and you can also add other things (like Fish Oil if you're not a shammy) to the list of auto-sell stuff.

While we're on the subject of WoW, I quit oh...18 months ago? Jan 2010 or so.

Since then I've been getting 3 or 4 emails a week telling me my account is under investigation and I better login or it'll be deleted, and lately the occasional one offering me a free "winged guardian" mount if I click some link.

Now, obviously it's spam (though some are decently worded) but who the hell sends this shit, and how do they get my email address? I signed up to some fairly reputable forums for WoW...and can't think of any other way I handed out my email in relation to it.

Here's a hilariously badly worded excerpt for your enjoyment -

Greetings!

When you take to the skies astride a blazing, eagle-winged lion, your comrades will know you mean business.

we will be complimentary seat to the 5,000 players. You can log Web site application, we will be lucky players randomly. Please click this link to apply

I haven't gotten an email about it, but I have had a couple of random messages in WoW saying there were "complaints about me" and that they needed to verify that I was actually who I said I was, or something along those lines. I checked out the website and it was an obviously fake battle.net screen.

Just from random people?

Unless it has the blizzard logo before the name in chat, they're not legit, ever

The name had Blizzard in it so they were trying to make it look like it was legit.

I didn't know about the logo thing, but I figured it was fake regardless

Nah GMs have something like this in front of their name (or at least did when I played)

My old Battle.net account e-mail gets loads of those e-mails Jupiter. Not sure how it got out there either but it did. I changed my Battle.net e-mail specifically so I don't have to even look at them to verify they're fake. I almost deleted my TBC Beta invite because it didn't look legit with some formatting errors and such. It's been over 6 months and so far so good on the spammers not picking up the new address.
