Hi guys, still relatively new and trying to figure out the patterns of CB traffic.

On good days I can easily have 1000 up to 7000 viewers whenever it booms out of nowhere, but some days in a row it seems that cannot get out of that 250 viewers (or 400 other days) mark and its very hard to move from there.

It feels like CB caps you out for that day, is this possible?

Lately it has been quite a crappy wave of days, and obviously low room count does minimise your potential of earnings.

Any thoughts or experiences you might want to share? I know within 5y i will still try to crack and understand the algorithm of CB traffic without a hope 😂

Like I already explained above. They don’t cap traffic on the site itself, it’s not a “cap” per se. What I believe they do is they prevent models from being displayed in the promo tools for a period of time after logging in, and maybe they even exclude them from the whitelabels (this should be easy to check, I never checked white labels). Since most of CB traffic is actually people who have iframes and banners of CB open on other sites, if a model doesn’t show up in there she misses out of a lot of that traffic making it impossible for her to gain any users other than the people who actually entered CBs homepage themselves and went to her room. This has a cascading effect when other models who are being featured get that boost and the excluded model does not.

Then you go over 1 hour online and say... you are now eligible to show up on whitelabels! BOOM! Room count climbs from 400 to 900 in the span of 15 min. Second hour hits and BOOM you can now be featured in banners and iframes, your numbers start climbing for real. I’m not claiming this is exactly how it works, just what I believe is happening from observation and it might be a bit different from my example, but I do believe the cap to be related to the promo tools.

And before you say the banners don’t count cause of the registered users thing... if you logged in at 8 am and watched for a bit, then close the browser and later that day you go to pornhub and get a CB iframe at the bottom, your account is still logged in and you count as a registered user boosting the model featured in the iframe on CB homepage even if you aren’t even watching.

Thank you for this - I must have missed that post - it certainly makes sense. Thing is for me, no matter how long I was logged in, it wouldn't change. AND as we all well know a "flash" or "show" segment would always multiply the room count anywhere from 3-4x the count it was while "chilling". Even THAT wasn't happening for me. Pussy out/showtime - nobody new comes in. Before things started to get weird with my room count during a show my room count would explode. Recently it wouldn't even change..... even 2-3 hours in.......

(edited to add) - Before the traffic fuckery started I would be around page 2-3.

Mila, the promo only impacts models that actually get that high, the vast majority of models aren't even in the top half of the first page much less high enough to get promo'd.

Edit: the model i was quoting was not being promo'd at any point to my knowledge, there are a lot of models talking about being capped and they have never been promo'd

The only time I ever got promoted to my knowledge was when CB had me in one of their email newsletters around the holidays. And if I was promoted in other ways I have no idea. I'm absolutely baffled.

2017-2019 I had traffic, I could make really good money on CB only, but since March this year my traffic is absolutely gone. I know some bad days happen here and there, but 6 months straight with no traffic anymore? What is the cause for having 95% of my traffic gone for 6 months now? It’s obvious they did something to our account, and I know what they did, but obviously Shirley aka punker barbie will always deny they don’t control the traffic (when they clearly do).

March? so it can't possibly be a change in your typical visitor behavior due to quarantine or the large increase in competition? It has to be that CB decided: you know what? lets hurt these models that have been with us for years and take a chance at some of these new models that have ridiculously high chances of quitting :giggle: I can think of no way for them to actually cap your traffic without being something easily proven. Notifications? nope people test those to make sure they are working constantly, unless it goes in a spam folder or something or the CB user has exceeded the daily notifications, then they will receive it. Hiding models from the model list? easily tested.

Whats your theory as to how they could be doing it? ...come to think of it whats your theory on the reasoning behind it? If you made good money then why would they sabotage you? CatSmith is easily one of the most attractive woman in her niche, why would they sabotage her?

No clue - I'm not a programmer. Touche' though *smiles*

I cammed on a site for 4 years and left because they were somehow able to control my traffic flow as I started getting into the tiers where I would take more of a cut than the site based on % (50, 60 and 70% respectively - starting at 32% for $5K member spend and moving up accordingly). Once I got into the higher tiers my traffic absolutely disappeared and my earnings took a hard nosedive - so I know it can be done. They started this shit a year before I left (I watched my income go down by 60%) and the model manager, as well as a person from corporate, CONFIRMED that they were pulling traffic in a Twitter group I was in. Traffic can absolutely be manipulated, and this was a smaller site doing this so I guarantee CB can handle it.

But, what else do you think would cause something like that to happen? That's the only logical explanation from my point of view.
I see you complain on almost every post. Don't you think it is about you maybe not Cb algorithm?

I am still making money on my other sites, actually more than I used to, so I don’t think quarantine is the reason for my traffic to be gone.. I am friends with 2 managers from a very big camsite, they told me the little secrets, and it just confirmed everything I always thought about Chaturbate, they manually control the traffic

Can't speak on behalf of the global cam user population of course, but since this whole pandemic thing I've cut my CB and Stripchat monthly spending to less than half of what it was. I'm also logged on 2-3 days a week now as opposed to 6-7. The way things are now I have to make sure I can support myself if this thing continues for another year. Spending on cam models is pretty high up on Maslow's pyramid.

The world has basically gone to shit. Didn't you get the memo?

so the pandemic only affected Chaturbate users? Why I’m making even more than I used to on Flirt4Free, ImLive and Streamate?

Who do you think received the biggest increase in users and models from this quarantine? Probably CB. Doesn't matter if you personally knew the owners of 2 very big camsites, they don't use a system like CB, none of them do to my knowledge.

they don’t use the same system, but don’t you think it’s a little too weird for my traffic (and cat smiths) be absolutely gone, suddenly?
🤔 not even greys? you show up on cbhours when you search for your name right?

Yes I show up there, Chaturbate just cut my traffic for some reason it’s obvious

Your traffic probably dropped due to losing regulars who were in the room most of the show even if you didn't notice them because they didn't tip. The site isn't blocking these guys, maybe it is COVID, or something you changed, or just time, since viewer bonding seems to happen more in model's first days

What i noticed the past few days , user accounts that are banned (i have A couple of grey banned accounts) They can still enter rooms , but cant chat(no change there) but they no longer appear on the user list..
if cb has done the same with "grey"" bot user accounts and auto banned them they wont show up as traffic..

I've only been camming a couple of times a week for less than 4 months but I've always struggled to get more than a dozen users in my room. Half of them are usually studio models using me for "inspiration" as they like to call it, or stupidly trying to advertise themselves (despite the difference in demographics). Hard to even get guys to tip 20tk to roll the dice or 30tk for a nude flash. Yet I see some popular models (mostly solo females) still raking in thousands of tokens from loyal fans. I've been tipping a lot myself but only because my struggling business is getting financial aid. Soon I won't have any spare money to spend on CB so I will only be able to tip the few tokens I earn from broadcasting.

I would assume that since COVID there would be more people spending time at home (meaning more greys on cam sites) but less spending from colored users due to financial downturn. Beyond that I have no explanation for the problems models are experiencing

It would be interesting to know:

- Did more new models sign up in 2020 compared to previous years, creating more competition.
- Monthly tipping total of all users in 2020 compared to previous years. Are CB users spending less during the COVID era?
- Average tip menu and private show prices compared to previous years. If models are willing to receive less tokens to amke quick money this year, then some of the more expensive models might see a decling in income unless they have a loyal fanbase to keep supporting them as before.

Without the data, we're just dealing in speculation.

So I share my opinion on this again.
Back in the days last year, 2 years ago I had never issues gaining viewers. I always gained up to 5000-10.000 viewers. I even went 2 times a day online ... first I went online gained around 5000 viewers in 2 hours went offline , went to the gym and went online again .. what I recognized back in the days there is that often viewers stayed in my room even when I was 24hrs offline and went online again. That time I knew I get a view boost. I clicked on online and after some minutes I had couple hundreds viewers and was on first front page.
What I also saw at other models and still see even I reported the issue at chaturbate support is that some models go Online and suddenly be showen on first page with their last highest viewercap being saved and showen. They only stay for around 1-3 minutes on the first page with lets say 6000 viewers displayed and when you click on their room they only have couple hundred viewers but with this bug they are able to gain easy viewers unfairly to the other models.
I also have since April issues gaining viewers into my room , like CB is holding my room back.
It also happends very often not only my room also other rooms that my room was not getting displayed on CB and whitelabel sites. I was invisible for 20-30 minutes and suddely be showen again.
Also many followers reported that I was not in their following list anymore and they had to refollow me.
I bet those issues happend to other models.
Those issued feelt for me like CB doing this on purpose.
Now Since april I really have to struggle getting viewers, like Mila_ said : after 1 hour it is not going above 400-500 viewers and so on.
I tested it on my last stream and was online for more than 4hrs and what happend? My viewers jumped after 3 hrs from 1400 viewers to 2300 and then suddenly from 2300 to closly 4000 viewers and went straight back to around 2400 viewers. That happend within seconds.
I also believe that many people left cb/ closed their accounts or just dont log into it and thats why I probably have many dead followers ... but its wierd that it suddenly happend at april around... And then I see models getting pronoted on CBs twitter account and they get within 40minutes being online 8000 viewers.... ^^

To be fair - yes, March was when quarantine hit - BUT - on all of my other sites my traffic increased significantly - almost double, if not triple - even though (understandably) my earnings went down at that time because people weren't spending, which was to be expected. EXCEPT for CB. All of the camsites got flooded with new models in March/April but the only one that went DRASTICALLY south for me traffic wise was CB. MFC was fine, Cams was fine, and so was Streamate, traffic was up for me everywhere else.... CB went beyond south - DOWN almost 93%, when my other sites were up 100-200% for traffic. There is a reason for it. And the fact that it is happening to others in the same way says it is on CB's end.

My hypothesis based on data and past experience puts traffic cap or at very least SOME form of traffic manipulation at the front of the line. It's the only thing that makes any sense, especially since I have already been through this same damn scenario with another site, which is why I moved to CB in the first place. Their reasoning was purely financial and actually understandable from a business standpoint but still dirty AF - AT LEAST someone fessed up to it over there.

An explanation from CB would be nice considering I lost a BIG portion of my income by losing so much traffic on their site after busting my ass for quite awhile to grow a following there AND bringing well over 100 of my best regulars to spend on their site (and spend they did - when they could actually get into my room!!!). Long term regulars (4+ years) don't just fall off of the face of the planet SIMULTANEOUSLY!

Again, sites ARE ABSOLUTELY capable of manipulating traffic - please re-read my earlier post about my experience with this. Whether it is hiding models from being seen, delaying or not sending notifications, or even blocking traffic - it happens. Maybe I needed to be shoving toys the size of traffic cones into my vag to qualify for better placement, or maybe they just thought I was too mellow for their "hardcore porn" style site. If they are unscrupulous enough to ban someone for NO REASON and keep their tokens - sometimes equaling thousands of dollars - what on earth would make me think any other way about them.

I also got the same treatment ("we don't manipulate traffic") from my previous site when I confronted them. I had approached other models about their traffic being fucked up and they also confirmed that they were having the same issue with the site. That is when the people working for the site admitted they pull traffic. They still will deny it but I still have the screenshots that say otherwise.

At least a normal job will just fire you LOL

Thank you for the compliment - and I would love an answer to that question myself. ("why would they sabotage her?") - Why would they sabotgae anyone that was bringing in money for them? *shrugs*

I see you complain on almost every post. Don't you think it is about you maybe not Cb algorithm?

Maybe you should know the full story about WHY someone is complaining before you just judge them?? Also, because I complain in here (my ONLY place to vent about camming) means I do it in my room online? Sure, okay.

I was consistently making $10-$12K a month on my first site, for 3 years. I went through absolute HELL trying to buy a house. The lender figured out I was a camgirl and did everything they could to get me to back out of the loan 2 weeks before closing - but they were in too deep so it went through because they didn't want me, both real estate agents and the seller to sue them. I cammed 12-16 hours a day 6-7 days a week for over 2 years to save up my down payment and boost my qualifying income. I busted my ass HARD. Fucking HARD.

I bought a house based on that income which had been VERY consistent for many years. Had my income continued around that level or even 25% - 30% less, I would have been just fine. Then, the site I was on for so many years started manipulating traffic for their benefit - cutting my income by 60-75%. I went to CB, taking my regulars with me, and started being able to hit daily low goal again a few weeks in and busted my ass to grow a following on there so that I could afford my mortgage. I was doing quite well until the first traffic change in summer 2019. It was a noticeable dip and I was suspicious of the site manipulating traffic because of the change but alas, I persisted. I also opened accounts on other sites to help cover the difference and have a backup. Then early this spring it got to the point of being unmanageable on Chaturbate.

To work so hard to accomplish something and then be at the mercy of someone else's whim and teetering on the edge of losing it would make anyone complain. This has been INTENSELY stressful for me - quite honestly a major mind fuck. I can barely cover my mortgage now, and I'm not far enough into my mortgage as to where a sale would be worth it or even make sense - I would be out all of my equity due to closing costs and fees and would lose everything I worked so hard for. All because a few sites decided it was okay to manipulate traffic for their benefit.

Would you not complain? I guarantee you would. I guarantee you would complain A LOT.

Take away: Know the whole story before you judge someone. Have a nice day.

I am not in your position cause my experience was with the promo tools etc. But even I remember feeling like there was a blacklist at some point in 2019 where support threw a bunch of us because the algorithm change seemed to only affect some models and not everyone. But I talked to support and they said there was absolutely no blacklist or whitelist and that it was impossible for them to even create one... and I have no reason to doubt them, but then that meant the irregularities in traffic had to be a secondary effect of another measure even if they didn’t intend to cause some models to struggle. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter much if it’s intentional or not. When your income is suffering and you are thriving on another site you have to conclude something is happening and it’s making it hard for you to do your job. Maybe make a new account? Maybe change servers on your OBS? Maybe cut your losses and stop broadcasting on CB? I do think it feels unfair and like you were stripped out of all the things you worked so hard for and sometimes CB support isn’t very responsive. I would personally try a different venue :(

I seriously doubt any camsite grew in models more than CB...maybe streamate? but definitely not MFC. I don't know much about cams.com
Whether it is hiding models from being seen
Tested many many times over, regardless of what device, IP, account you check with you will see the model. I've personally tested this many times because people keep claiming it's an issue but I think they just toggled the region in their seasrch settings or it was one of those list freezes where the model list stops updating or rare list glitches when the server has a problem and the model doesn't show up when it recovers.
delaying or not sending notifications
Notifications are sometimes delayed some but they always send them out unless the person has reached their maximum allowed email notifications for the day.
even blocking traffic
Theres nothing like that, there are some rare rtmp server issues lately where users have problems initially connecting but changing obs servers seems to resolve it.

Stripchat seems to be growing way faster than CB, probably not in raw number of models but in acceleration for sure. They are doing great. It will soon become a very interesting option for models, especially those who find themselves struggling on CB.

Not sure if it has been resolved, but there was an issue a while back where e-mail notifications were concerned. Seems the bulk e-mail provider that CB was using had been blacklisted, causing notifications to automatically be flagged as spam for a good number of e-mail providers. Not sure if CB has switched to a different provider since then.

Not in terms of active model count at least not number wise maybe percentage im not sure, they are growing really fast though, i even setup a striphours site ^_^

We really need to speak on this issue because it is a disrespect for us models to have our traffic cut out of nowhere, and it is very bad for our mental health to be online +8 hours and have no viewers, I am sure punker barbie is reading all of these posts, why she doesn't talk to us one on one? I have spoken to Catalina (Streamate), Chloe (Stripchat) and Mereane (ImLive) on Skype, why Shirley does not talk to us and kind of refuses to answer these questions? All she does is deny the accusations but she does not explain to us what is happening.

CatSmith, I am sorry for what is happening to you, I feel your pain, what really worked for me is join other sites, even your older one could be going better than CB right now. I heard CamSoda is pretty good for girls too!

The fact all sites increased my income this year but CB is the only one where i lost 95% of my traffic is beyond weird, and this is happening to other people so I am not crazy

This was alllllwayyysssss an issue, it made notifications so irrelevant I didn’t see much of a difference between sending it out and not sending it out 🤷‍♀️

I personally have the browser notifications activated for the models I follow and I LOVE IT! Can’t recommend it enough. I get a little push notification when they get on with their name and the room topic. And unlike emails it’s really quick to see and open the room and if you aren’t in the mood you simply ignore it and it won’t clutter your inbox. This would only be convenient for people who follow 100 models and not those who have a followed tab in the thousands, I guess... I only follow models I actually like

They aren't cutting traffic and when you can come up with a realistic theory as to how they could be cutting traffic will be happy to help test it.

Do you know how popular shirley is? The fact that she even responds to forum posts surprises me. She must have assistants helping her process all the correspondents because I can't even fathom how one person could possibly handle everything she does.

What questions? Why you dropped in popularity? She already said "Chaturbate does not ‘cap traffic’ in any way!" You want a possible explanation as to why you aren't successful anymore? Well I suppose she could come back and make a post like... well walkergrogan you are 1 of 485,000 models that broadcasted in the last 3 months so competition is a little fierce :giggle:

Have you read this thread? Why, out of nowhere, me and other models lost almost 100% of our traffic?

Do you know how popular shirley is?
She is popular, but he doesn't have 5 minutes of her day to explain what is causing this issue? Every camsite representative is popular, and they all are willing to talk to us ONE ON ONE on Skype or Twitter, even Laszlo, ex LiveJasmin CEO and now Streamate director, is super fine talking to us, Shirley is literally the only one who has no communication with the models and is always avoiding questions.
What questions? Why you dropped in popularity? She already said "Chaturbate does not ‘cap traffic’ in any way!
Of course she is going to say "Chaturbate does not cap traffic in any way!" Do you think she is going to say "yes guys we manually control the traffic!!!"
You want a possible explanation as to why you aren't successful anymore? Well I suppose she could come back and make a post like... well walkergrogan you are 1 of 485,000 models that broadcasted in the last 3 months so competition is a little fierce
Have you ever broadcasted on Chaturbate? Do you really think it's normal for a model to have almost 100% of traffic gone out of nowhere? Plus many other models complaining about the same issue
