If you pick your location well, there are many parts of the Northeast that are a good compromise between pleasantly rural (with nice scenery, etc) and close enough to bigger cities that you can go there pretty easily when you want to.
Thinking VT, parts of upstate NY or PA, etc. I do agree with you about CT though.
If you're not a big city person, this is the way to go. It's also the less expensive option because just about everything outside of major metropolitan areas is less expensive. You can have your cake and eat it as well.

If I was a member, I know that crap would turn me off from a room so quickly, and make me take my tokens elsewhere.
