Online status indicator

What might cause the green dot to light up, indicating a model is online when she actually is not? I sometimes will chat with models after they finish stream or on a day off. Occasionally I will see the green dot lit and send a message, several hours later or the next day she will write back saying "sorry I was not online and did not see your message until just now" Is this common, are there possible reasons this happens or is she actually online and just politely ignoring me?

I'd posted about this a few years ago in one of the Stripchat threads on here. Yeah, it's VERY annoying, because if you're a model who's online just to edit your Stripchat pofile...maybe upload some videos for sale, etc., it can be annoying getting PMs from guys when the model is not trying to chat right now, and just wants to be left alone to work on her profile. I used to feel the same way when I'd go onto the MyFreeCams model web broadcaster and change some things on there (without wanting to go live), and guys from my friends list could see that I'm online. Just because I'm online doesn't mean I want to be bothered with PMs.

A few years ago I'd asked the same thing...when SC models go online (but not actually wanted to stream), that message that we used to see on our end that says "The model will be online soon"...do YOU guys see that message too? I remember the person who answered my question (It was either one of the SC reps, or one of the knowledgeable SC members on here who answered) said that YES, members do see that "The model will be online soon" message even when they model is just editing her profile.

I'm sorry, but that's really stupid, and something that SC needs to change imo. The site should not assume that just because the model is online at her profile area...that she plans on going live soon. And it's getting members all excited for nothing.

Have you ever had the site indicate you were online, when you were truly were not? There have been times that I will go to the site and leave a message for her knowing she is asleep and wont see it until she begins her stream the next day, when I am still sleeping. There is an 8 hour time difference between us. Sometimes the little green dot on her account is lit and she has told me that she has not been online since the last stream ended.

I am sure that i have the site open in one of the tabs on my phone. Im sure it shows me as online quite often when im not. I agree it would be good if we would have the option to be ‚invisible‘ because it often is still us being AFK or working on something without being available to chat

I think if a model is online (i.e. logged in to the site but not broadcasting) then it doesn't show her as "This model will be online soon". Instead it shows the little green light in both the chat interface and when entering the room as a user. However upon entering the room it just shows the usual stuff like schedule and profile etc but with the little green light in her avatar. If a model is actually broadcasting then the green light indicator shows next to her name in the search results if you search.

In my experience the "This model will be online soon" status seems to show at various points in the broadcast such as immediately after a private or if they've gone offline temporarily during a broadcast.

You are entirely correct though, it must be annoying to pop online to do something and suddenly be bombarded with PMs.

I'm sure someone user interface designer thought that the green light was a great feature however it is totally unnecessary. The only thing the user needs to know is whether the model is broadcasting and that is easily ascertained as follows:-

When you enter her room can you see her there broadcasting?

If not, fuck off and do something else until such time as she is.

I also think the green light in Stripchat persists for a while after the model has actually gone offline or disconnected. Like there is quite a long delay before the status reverts to offline. I know this because a model that I knight for can have an internet or power outage and go completely offline and the light still lingers for a while after she has given up trying to resolve the issue.

Well someone on here (IDK if it was Stella or Chloe) told me the opposite when I'd first mentioned it years ago. That it shows viewers "The model will be online soon" even when she's just online at her model admin section editing things with private show settings, goals, etc. I don't feel like searching for the posts.

That may be correct and I might be wrong. I'm basing it purely on what I can see from the user end and may be misinterpreting things entirely.

The starting soon screen shows when you click the start broadcast button to go to the broadcast page... which is also the only place to update things like room topics, tip menu, private pricing and wheel prizes. So just being logged in marks you as online with the green dot, but doing pretty much anything you would be doing after hours on your account is going to be causing the starting soon screen.

Can we get somewhere where we can update menus / topics / settings without being in the broadcast center? Much like the green dot, just because someone is doing something in the broadcast center dosnt mean they are planning to go online anytime soon.

Thanks Stella! I appreciate your reply. In my situation the model requested that I message here after the stream ended while she was home. We often chat a bit before she goes to bed. I am guessing the times I thought she was online and she was not, is because she did not realize the site was open in another tab on her phone or Ipad.

I think we do need an invisable online status because I also do not want bothered when editing content earlier in the day and not planning to go live until later. Also a status change option would be nice to change model will be online soon to model is currently inactive or something simular.

I think you may have missed my post above King Marti’s, where I said I’ve read all feedback regarding the green dot and will be passing it along to my colleagues—not just his feedback.

If you raised the same suggestion years ago, it would have been passed along then as well. That’s one of the purposes of having a Stripchat representative on ACF, so even if we don’t specifically say “we passed your suggestion along,” please know that we always do.

Hi, Stella. No, I didn't miss the post. It just feels like sometimes I'm not really taken seriously when I have an opinion or suggestion. But when others - especially when it's a man talking - bring the topic back up, that's when the consensus seems to be ah, yes, great idea...we should do something about that. Lol. I don't think it's intentional, of course. It's just how I feel, and I've noticed the same thing IRL too, like in the workplace for example.

And I do realize there are so many posts on here to sift through, and you and Chloe were getting hit up with new SC suggestions pretty much on a daily basis...which is why I'd often compliment you guys on the way you'd handle the suggestion posts patiently. I'm glad that you're listening, and passing on suggestions to help make the site better for all the current models. Thank you for that.

That’s a great question! It really depends on the nature of the suggestion. Depending on what it is, it could be passed along to our Moderation team, Support, Tech, Developers, Brand, CM team, my direct supervisor, or another team that would be best suited to review and address it.

This happens quite often, and it usually doesn't mean she is intentionally ignoring you.
Status update delays or caching: many major sites don't update the presence indicator the very second a user logs off. She might have left a browser tab or the app open in the background

I am unsure if this is the same but the green dot indicator used to take about 10 minutes to actually vanish once someone goes offline. I even brought this up long ago because it's one dumb thing that creates arguments with models (not just the user at the model, but the model getting angry at the user for being online and not visiting her or whatever - stupid yes, always)


Invisibility mode is my best friend
