The ACF model verification requires that modeling be a job rather than a hobby. This seems reasonable because of the extra commitment required to have a go at making serious money in this business. I’ll call these models ‘pros’ for convenience.
I’ve been broadcasting for around 11 years now, but do it as a hobby. I suspect I’m not alone here. I’m curious about how pro broadcasters regard we hobbyists. Are we side shows syphoning attention and dollars from the main event or are we part of the carnival? I’ve heard the term “hobby wankers”. Is that wankers in the pejorative sense? In kink communities, the term ‘wanker' is becoming embraced as just another type of sexual expression much as the word “slut” is no longer an insult but is more a badge of honor. I like the term “hobby wanker”; I’m from the kink community.
I’d like your honest opinion so I won’t give any defensive replies unless invited to do so.
Optional FYI material. Ever since I came of age I’ve wanted to be a performer in a sex-related setting. However, I had a career and kept away until I neared retirement around 11 years ago. Viewers like all types of people so I feel like a legitimate performer. However, being so far outside the usual envelope of performers, I find myself feeling defensive amongst the pros. One time, in a web-cam discussion group at a kink festival, I was treated as an illegitimate broadcaster who was there to just hobnob with the pros. That caused me to always be on the defensive about my "hobby". Hence the question. By the way, I’ve never once had any experience here at ACF that made me feel defensive. Thank you.
