I was told to pick up things like chocolate syrup and whipped cream and candles for wax shows. Also washable markers for marker shows. Soo.... I did! I'll be doing a marker show tonight, just to see how my luck fairs :D

My boyfriend has recently started camming on Streamate and he is doing awesome. I didnt actually think he would make much because you can see guys jack off for free anywhere. Now I know that men can do as well as women can. He is in the straight section not sure if he would make more in bi or gay. let me know if you have any questions so I can ask him.

@curvy - Thanks for the info, that's really encouraging. Now I'm curious, which pays more bi or straight? I guess I'll have to eventually test that out when I start camming!

@Jebbaz - Good Luck!

@curvy - Does your boyfriend make most of his money in private or does he bring in a lot of cash in the public setting?

I'm researching how to not suck at it right now... I discovered camming is hard tonight.

lol you had no idea till now?
I knew it wasn't easy, but I didn't know how hard it was to come up with things that people would want to see, and when I did figure that much out, I came to the startling realization that I did not have any of the necessary supplies.

i must admit.. its a whole lot harder for guys.. ive seen many male models.. and the ones that stick out are either damn handsome.. or more extreme..
its just like showbusiness.. nobody knows why someone makes it.. and someone that could be a twin of that.. doesnt...
some kinda weird xfactor thing..

I feel sorry for Jebbi and Mark Anthony when I saw them on skinvideo. I admire their balls for doing that because I sure wouldn't. It's sad because they only seem to get tips from other Skin Video cam models in the room and they seem to be totally pity tips because no one else is tipping them after being on cam a long time. If I was a guy doing that, I would just go to a site like justin tv and of course dont do nudity and just put a chip in button there and chat with people and maybe someone will chip in and give you money. Be like a lifecaster instead of trying to be in porn on cam. It's just so too hard for the average looking guy to be in camming because for example, if you join adultfriendfinder for free, there will be like 1500 dudes on cam for free lol compared to like 20 women on cam so it's like why would a woman want to pay to see a dude naked when so many, many dudes get naked for free on cams everywhere and they will chat also? Good luck to the fellas who get into, sure isn't easy for sure.

women dont get tips to be on cam either.. me myself have to be either promising something.. or really try hard to entertain everyone..
i get where you're coming from.. but the models tipping the guys arent pitty tips.. they like what they see.. were not used to men on cam after mfc.. and we have the appreciation menthality going on..
the problem with skinvideo is that everyone who has been there so far are either mfc members who are not used to men.. or videoskin members who are just intoduced with the whole live cam thing 4 months ago..
if a webcamsite isnt known for having male models.. it takes some time to get in the right kinda members..
it will be good in time.. but skinvideo is very new at the whole webcam broadcast anyway.. give it time ;)

  KUDOS KUDOS!
To Jebbaz & the others who are trying out the male cam modeling!!
I understand that it could be more difficult than a female model, but BIG PROPS to the men who do try it!!! I hope u guys do well & have fun!

My personal advice would be to get on cam with the attitude that you will -not- make any money. Why? (Kinda like whenever I get on cam...) if u have have the attitude that you are gonna get on cam & have fun, chat etc... it makes u more comfy feeling & your personality shows thru. Many of us have all agreed that -Personality- is one of the biggest money makers!!

I personally, have kinda abandoned camming... though I am going to get on sometime soon, & even contemplating a "retirement." I cammed for a few months & made nice money & man-do I miss that money. But, to me, on MFC- I felt so much pressure since other models are breaking the rules etc... so I took a break. I also got to the point where it wasn't so fun. So, a break was needed. I refuse to force myself to get on cam. If i'm not "feeling" it then others will notice too. So, also make sure u give yourself breaks away.

I've even thought about seeing if my boyfriend would want to try it-lol or actually pursue the couples thing since I never got around to it. I dunno how he would do though.... as far as male-only model. He's a farmboy/hillbilly & honestly I dunno how he would handle the gay traffic. He tries to have some fun on our MFC prem account.. and sometimes he has a little too much fun... In the way that he teases & jokes but some models take it the wrong way & I have to tell him to chill out... He doesn't mean to be offensive or rude (Unless the model is bein a bitch.. then he dishes it back...) soooo i don't believe he would be a good male cam model... lol

anyways- back on topic damnit--

I hope u guys have fun & be successful!! Good luck!!!

The more tense I am, the less money I make. I'm sure it's that way for just about anyone.

The more focused on the money I am, the less I make. Probably because thinking about money makes me tense.

EDIT: that was a really bad attempt at offering advice, in the "this works for me, and I'm pretty sure it applies to most people" category...

Hi guys!
I'm new here and this topic is very helpful! But, one question: what is a marker show and how often people ask for it?

Thank you ;)

Hi first post here. I searched for advice for male cammers and found this place where I already know some of the names and more from MFC. ;) I tried camming on LJ and earned $2.43 on my first day. lol I'm thinking about trying streammate and I think I might sign up as straight for those dudes that have that fetish. I'm bi though but only for a very select genre. I'm a Friendly Awesome Hilarious Kook and maybe you can figure out who I am at mfc now.

wink wink smile

Hello, My Model name is Bristol Vanslyke

You all can call me Patrick or Bristol.

I have been a male model now for about 4 months. I skipped about 3 in the middle.

I certainly became intimidated. Here is what it was like for me as a new male model on streamate

I am listed as bisexual and in my description declared as "bicurious" I do consider myself open to new experiences and willing to fantasize.
I've had a couple young gay experiences while experimenting but nothing ever stuck. I'm a total beaver hound

The first time I log onto streamate I notice a banner at the top of the page that says "make more money" follow these instructions.....

Just a quick note, I have access to and am using a logitech c910 Because GF has one for myfreecams

So anyway, I follow the instructions, download the flash encoder, set it up, and begin broadcasting. BTW, this is extremely awkward if you do not know how to manipulate your windows expertly or have more than one monitor.

I mention this because It put me right to the top of the male model listing and I got tons of traffic.

Right before I began broadcasting, I was watching porn and very excited.

By the time I get the encoder going and get all logged on, im limp again. So I turn on porn in the background and attempt to rekindle what I had lost.

No Luck. I think it's nerves.

That being said....I cannot get excited on cam. Not live cam. Sure I can record it. And I can get excited when I'm with my GF (model on myfreecams.com) on MFC membercams. But I got nothing for streamate camming, It's limp.

So i put that in my profile. I don't want any disappointments.
This alone discouraged me from camming, I thought there would be no way I could be good at this without my "guy" performing.

But I push on, because I like to talk. I talk a lot on cam. I love it when people listen to me and interact with me. I actually feel really comfortable. Which is why I can not figure out why I have the "performance" issue.

So I get a few privates where I wank my softness and play with my butt a little. Then some guy takes me private and says he likes what he hears.

I say "what?"

I heard me clearing my throat and wanted to see me cough, clear my throat, gag, and spit. This went on for like 20 mins and I got tired and had to quit.

It sucked quitting at .70 a min. But this shit was starting to hurt my throat.

So then, I get another private, it might of even been exclusive. I will post the pay pic....

This guy wants me to shave my head.

At first I said no, but told him I would if he would stay for the whole show which could take quite some time.

He agreed. So for what I recall to be around 30 minutes I shaved my head and told him "Take it all off sir"

I made good money that day, but I was scarred for life. Heh, not quite, but discouraged non the less. I'm not sure why, it just made me feel awkward after. I guess being on cam was not all that bad, but thinking about getting back on just made me feel qweezy.

So I've been getting back on, but even now as I write this I procrastinate logging on.

Here is the photo I promised. It's my earnings over the course of three days.

I was probably on cam about 7 hours total. The privates came pretty fast

I had pretty low downtime while I was on.

Hope this helps
Bring on the english speaking male models!!

Thanks Bristol. When I was on LiveJas in a free room I had a lot of traffic. South American guys seemed to really dig me. I should really do it some more because the job market sucks.

So it was the good camera that bumped you to the top?
Did you set up a studio?
I really like the MFC format where people can tip you instead of only making money in privates. Like I said I love being on cam but .... what if someone I knew saw me?

Have you ever seen what kind of money other dudes make?

Hey all! First time poster here.. I browse through MFC from time to time :hello2:

I tried camming as a male a few years ago on imlive and livejasmin. It was a fun experience but I didn't make much really and I was on like 10+ hours a day. The first day or so wasnt that bad cause it's like your the flavor of the month lol. Oh and I'm straight and I don't think I ever had a girl in my room.. if I did it was probably guys pretending to be girls.. but I knew that would probably happen before I tried camming so I just would watch porn in the background or I had my g/f at the time skype me lol (of course I wouldn't make it obvious, don't wanna upset the customers)
I also tried Streammate for a day or 2 and I just could never get into that site cause it was sooo dead (atleast in my room) and never made a cent there so I just gave up on that site. It's just harder for guys cause most people can find us pervs anywhere on the internet for free and trying to find a girl for free is like a needle in a haystack

But ya like I said that was a few years ago so it might be different now. I hope it's a little better cause I might try it again and see how it goes

But good luck to you guys and lemme know which sites seem to have more traffic

Hi, guys!

I have some doubts about camming on streamate. They are silly for most of you :-D but I have to ask :crybaby:

1. when you go to a private you only go with one guy or is possible to go with more than one?
2. how do I learn my position in the page? (I have geographic restrictions).
3. when I press "stop my show button" I appear as online/ webcam logged of?
4. sometimes guys asked me to show more on free chat, but I must show only in private, right? Cause I've already seen guys showing more in free chats.
5. from time to time I see a countdown: is it a snapshot to the page?
6. during the night I can't speak, only type. Is that problematic?
7. how I deal with the free chats? only greet and tease a little bit or give more attention?

Thank you guys! You're amazing!

Private is like a group nude/x-rated chat with more than one person paying to watch you get naughty. Exclusive is only with one person.

2. how do I learn my position in the page? (I have geographic restrictions).
You can open Streamate in a new tab or browser & then try to find yourself in your category.

3. when I press "stop my show button" I appear as online/ webcam logged of?
I'm assuming you meant "offline" so yeah. You would then be off cam & chat and no longer appear online until you start your show again.

4. sometimes guys asked me to show more on free chat, but I must show only in private, right? Cause I've already seen guys showing more in free chats.
Do whatever, within the rules of course. It varies from model to model how well the "not showing the good 'til private" thing works.

5. from time to time I see a countdown: is it a snapshot to the page?
It's a timer that's taking a "live" snapshot of you on cam at the moment it hits the 1 or camera icon. You can have this turned off if you want by emailing support & asking for it to be turned off.

6. during the night I can't speak, only type. Is that problematic?
It might cut down on your traffic a bit, but isn't against the rules so no worries.

7. how I deal with the free chats? only greet and tease a little bit or give more attention?
Do what you want & eventually you'll figure out what works for you. There are quite a few models on here who are on Streamate a fuck of a lot more than I am, so maybe they can give you a few pointers.

Thank you guys! You're amazing!

I have a vagina, but I tried to answer most, if not all of these. :)

Looks like I came across this convo about two years too late, but let me help out if I can.
I've been doing male modeling on cam for about 11 years now, and it can be hard when you first start. My biggest problem at first was that I was always afraid someone I knew would see me, and that kept me from relaxing and just having fun. The other problem I had was that I was too impatient. You have to realize that it's a job, and you have to put in the time. Look at it this way,, at a normal job you stay for 6 to 8 hours, so why not put in close to that amount of time on cam. You'll find that you wont even need to put in that much time once you get going and build up a following.
I think, as a male model, we think we should be paid as quick as the girls we watch on cam, but it's way different.
Also, we need to be real with ourselves when we call it Gay4pay.. Bullshit, lol.. Any guy who goes on cam and masturbates for other guys is at least Bisexual, or has had plenty of fantasies about the same sex. It's called being human. Nothing wrong with it. I'm openly bisexual, and I think that has helped me immensely when it comes to cam and putting on a good show for my customers.
Lastly, don't be afraid of sex toys!!! DILDO'S ARE MONEY MAKERS!! And when you get used to them, they feel awesome!! Most men never get past the whole "its gay" thing, and they miss out on how wonderful anal sex is. The male G-spot is something I advise you to become familiar with. (The orgasms and cum-shots you experience are unbelievable)
I'm currently on chaturbate.com and I make enough money to pay all my bills and do whatever I want.
I'd also love to hear where your journey took you and if you're still camming.

Check me out on cam under therealmikeymike

Well, my Streamate account was just approved! IMLive account looks like it's about to be approved to.

Going to do my first show tonight, after I go buy some booze lol. I'm excited and turned on to do it, so I'm hoping it's somewhat of a success. I'll try to reply back with an update....

Sorry if I am late to this, but this very much applies to me. I actually just did my first day of male webcam modeling today on chaturbate. I just have a few questions/concerns. First of all, I am straight but I love anal play and I realize I will be getting mostly gay men. But I wasn't sure if I should tell them I am Bi or straight. Some of you have said they would be more turned on if I say I am straight? (It wasn't mentioned much but I basically gave off the impression that I was bi in the chat today). Should I continue telling them I'm Bi, or just say I am straight but that I enjoy camming for anyone?

Also, a question on what I should be doing while on cam. I realize most guys just sit there and wack off, which is what I was planning to avoid. I thought that by using anal toys I might be setting myself apart a little. Chaturbate has a policy where you cannot use toys past a certain size. Unfortunately that eliminated most of my toys. I did use one toy that is prettymuch right at the size limit. For the first hour or so I ended up having around 15 people in my room at a time, which I know is not a lot in general but for my first day/first hour I thought that was pretty good. I also got a tip. Then the moderator sent me a message saying my toy was too big :( I realized I didn't have much else for toys that would be within their standards. I figured my room would be less popular, and it was. I put a small plug in and I had a few people but not as many. Then I decided to just sit there wacking off (To confirm my theory that it would be quite unpopular, which it was) and I had only 2 or 3 people max. So basically the whole "largeish anal toy play" was going to be my "thing". I will have to find toys that are within their limits but still fun to watch.

Sorry for the long post, but another reason for this post was to ask what else I could do (besides anal play) that would be popular? I don't have the body or looks to just sit there and get tips lol.

*Oh and I also am seriously considering buying a sex machine. I was thinking it would be awesome if that could be funded by my camming, but it would take a long time to make that much I feel. Anyway, I think with a sex machine that could possibly set me way apart from the other models (male and female). I don't know if many models on any site, including chaturbate, have sex machines. What do you think? (it's something I would like to buy whether or not I use it for webcam shows, just very expensive and would take me a bit to save for).*

If you don't have the body or the looks, what's left is personality. You're gonna have to be really engaging.
If you're lacking in all three of those, there's really no reason left for anyone to tip you.

Also, if anal play is going to be your bread and butter, you're going to have a really hard time getting people to pay you for it if you're doing it for free.

I do feel that I was pretty engaging, talking to them and making it personal for them. Also what I was doing was sortof teasing with a tiny bit of insertion or just pressing the dildo close but not using it, and waiting for the tip to actually use it. I feel pretty good about that, but I am just not sure what else I can do other than anal or masturbation (if the users get "bored" with the anal or something. I guess I could also get some new toys and have a better variety.

If what you like to do is more hardcore anal stuff, you'd probably get more buck for your bang on Streamate.
