exactly right!

If a gift is deemed necessary its no gift anymore.
So you don't believe in appreciation tips. You want tit for tat. A gift is a gift. There should be no reciprocation expected.

I said I tip when I tip. Where did I say I want something in return? I dont understand the assumptions you are making.
You don't understand the assignment.

Birthdays, anniversaries, milestones are free squares on the bingo card. It's a day about us, not you.

@Vixxen81 Sorry this makes me a bit mad!

You asked a question, I responded in an honest way. That's what this thread is made for, no? Now I have to argue? I'm a customer of a professional. I dont care about their birthdays. And I don't give gifts to some random professional on the internet. I buy their service. Looking at this forum a big chunk of the problems in camming come from when viewers get too attached to the model. I don't. How often can you read here about models who wish (rightfully so) that viewers would understand the professional service customer relationship better?

I don't care one iota how mad it makes you. I responded in kind. If you "like" a model then you should occasionally honor that they need to be showered in gifts not demands/tip menu items.

I have a question, if I may ask: I've assumes that people buy content mostly because they are acquainted with the model who makes it. It is very relationship oriented. Is this correct?
I'm a model answering this.. but this is def not the case. Depends on the model and the content, i have a few "collectors" that buy content due to having loyalty to me buy my clip site income often has repeat buyers for years that never interact anywhere else. They just like my porn

You're not a cam model. Shhhh
This thread is supposed to ask for honest member opinions. I don't think you're beibg objective in your responses here. If you want members to interact honestly on these questions we need to make sure we don't dogpile them for being honest.

I am a model and i don't see anything wrong with what Gruner said either. There are members who tip soley in terms of tangible exchange and its OK to have customers like that.

Assignment? What is that? Yes, some days are personally special to some people. But why should that make a user/member/customer/client feel particularly obliged?
Because you like them and you want their special day to be special.

It's not a dog pile, it's an honest push back. If you like a model why would you not honor and recognize that day? We get like four days out of the year that are just for us and the rest is focused on making them satisfied. Do they not get bonuses at their jobs or perks? Why can't we?

I get that, but members who tip soley for exchange are simple and easy and I don't think they should feel obligated to do more if it's not for them. I don't give them any special treatment either. It's just transactional. Personally that's sometimes preferrable ..speaking as a burnt out model with boundry issues. Keeps things clear

I don't disagree. If you like a model enough to be around when she's promoting a special occasion maybe save up a few bucks and throw it down like a boss. I'm the author of this thread, if I wasn't seeking real answers I would not have posted it. Doesn't mean I won't challenge the answers I get.

I tipped my friend lavishly on her birthday. It was her 50th, and I knew it was important to her. It was also a kind of "thank you"; her actual age is different than that on her profiles, and I am apparently among a select few regulars that know. I also tipped her at her Christmas, (Orthodox) and at New Years. I don't feel obligated to tip. I want to because I care about her.

why would you get so obsessed with a perspective of one single random viewer? Do you hate people who don't celebrate the same things you are celebrating? As you can see the answers of other viewers are different. So there you have your special day with your "friends".

lol, thats exactly what I do. And when that is on their birthday its purely by coincidence. I seldom tip for menue items. I expect nothing in return. But its payment none the less.

And please dont tell my what I should do! You have no idea what great fun I have with models and what great fun they have with me. I can't afford to tip very often. But when I do its a lot. just not very often. But when it happens its just joy and laughter.

Then why did you lie and say you don't?

Where did I say I don't tip?
I didn't say you don't tip. I said you don't tip unless you get something in return. Then you turn around and give a laundry list of gratuitous tips.

Here's a couple of questions and an answers in one.

Do we users get overly attached? Yes. Do we miss you when you leave? Of course.

Today my model friend announced to me that she was thinking of quitting. By evening time, the deed was done. She didn't come online to broadcast. I Whatsapp'd her to see if she was ok and she told me that she was already finished and preparing to move out. To say I'm devastated would be an understatement. Not in the romantic sense. It was never that kind of thing. I'm too much of a realist for that. But we laughed like drains all the time and I'll miss that connection. We used to have some amazing late night chats when times were slow. The truth is that she was just struggling with the downturn. I tried like a bear but I couldn't do it all by myself and too many guys were giving nothing.

We've already made the promises to keep in touch, but like I say, I'm a realist. Without the cam site as that central, regular meeting place, the reality is that communication will eventually drift and then cease.

I'm telling you guys because there is literally nobody else in my life I can tell.
I am so sorry! I know I will be devastated when my friend leaves the industry, which I know will be a matter of time. She has promised me that she will ask for my information when the time comes, but I am not sure if she will follow through. A break is a good idea. I certainly would take one. Take care of yourself! ❤️

Just like there are different types of models, there are different types of members.

Those of us who promote a very community driven and social room (mainly on a token site with free chat) normally get (and in turn almost expect, at least a little bit) people involved in their cam room tipping "just because" and in celebration of special days, holidays, landmarks. And those members who enjoy that aspect of a model's cam room often feel happy to contribute in such a way. And if anything, acknowledgement and appreciation that your favorite cam model is spending a holiday or special occasion ON CAM with you instead of with their family or loved ones... you know, might be nice to show that.

Those of us who prefer more transactional cam site/content site interactions may not expect or promote any sort of "just because' or "spoil me" kind of compensation. (even though I'd argue that our continued attention, chat, and interaction is worth a transactional tip in that aspect...but I digress). And the members who go to a cam site simply for transactional interaction won't think to provide more than the cost of the service they require.

As always you come in with the perfect eloquence.

@Vixxen81 If you call me a liar I'd certainly would want to know why? And what do you mean by a laundry list? sorry not english

I think there is an interesting aspect in all this discussion. In camming the separation of professional and personal seems not so easy. I certainly couldn't speak for models but what I can see as a viewer: The professional side is the job. Clearly like any other job for making money. Yes there might be different levels of fun involved like in any other job. But as in any other job there are things that are no fun at all. On the personal side you have the intimacy and exhibitionism. So the personal side IS a part of it and can't be shrugged off completely I guess. I imagine its not so easy to keep this straight and might only be possible with some experience. Like a young doctor or teacher getting too involved with their "subjects". On the viewers side it might be even harder so sparate this? I don't know. But you have these models, all being very personal and sweet, acting as if you mean more to them than your tips. So the professional side is obvious: Payment! But then you have your sexual/emotional/whatever satisfaction which is a very personal thing and can't be rationalized professionally. I certainly needed a few "sessions" to understand that. The way CB&co are placing their ads doesn't help there.

Anyway, as soon as there is a personal relationship demands are not far away as @Vixxen81 proved in her posts. As I said a neccessary gift isn't a gift anymore, for me at least. And I don't want to dissapoint anyone.

That's interesting that content sales provide diversification in revenue sources. I had thought that they were drawing from the same customer base.

to further my point: If I come to a birthday models room and give her a gift, then there might be the expectation that I do the same next year. But next year I might be dead, blind, a woman, in jail or on the local laundry service anniversary celebration which not only might disappoint her, but also give me a bad feeling.

I'm pretty sure about 80% of my onlyfans base are not part of my MFC base. But that 20% or so that ARE "Amberlanders" on my OF are incredibly loyal and have recurring subscriptions and tip frequently on OF as well as MFC.

So, there are some instances where I would tip a model a lot “because.”

One model I really like a lot took some time off for surgery. Knowing she would be out for 3-4 weeks I tipped her a TON her last week on before the surgery - probably 4x what she makes from all tippers on a typically day. And I did it because I knew she would not be earning for a little while. And while she was gone I tipped her offline and bought ALL of her 30+ videos to support her because I knew she was not working.

That said, I don’t care about her birthday or if when she is closing in on a certain number of followers. What I was concerned about was her being able to support herself when she could not work. Let’s not assume that not tipping extra for manufactured special occasions means a user doesn’t care
