Camming is severely looked down upon, in fact viewed as almost on the same level as prostitution.
It boils my blood when you guys treat escorting as this less dignified tier of sex work.

Perhaps in a related situation, where a favourite model changed her *stream* content (e.g. was sexy / naked but never explicit in public, and then the public streams started to include explicit shows/goals) It may affect how or when I visited her room.
This is so interesting. Why do you think having more explicit shows would "scare" you away (sorry for the lack of better term, please don't take it the wrong way)?

My post suggested judgment. My bad, it was not intentional. I certainly do not think that any kind of sex work is without dignity. All sex workers have my respect and I firmly believe they should be allowed work in a safe environment, free of judgment.

I think the problem there is that he wants this thing to be worn for an hour at a time. Now granted, I could take her private, have her remove the offending item and put it back on after the private (so he was none the wiser) but:-
  • I don't always want a private. Sometimes I just want something off the tip menu.
  • I can't always afford a lengthy private and besides, I don't feel that I should have to break the bank just to circumvent someone else's fetish.
It's only happened a couple of times so far so I'll wait and see.
HE should take her private, not you.

Regarding your second point, why does tipping the menu matter more in a studio model's room? Just curious. Again, just part of my overall curiosity about how it all works.
It matters more on a studio because they use that as a metric to decide whether or not to keep her on the studio or let her go.

When I've seen it, it's usually guys with a slave fetish that do it. Still weirds me out, even though I can understand it as part of the fetish.
On Chaturbate if you see a user name with a broadcaster's name incorporated into the user name it's because the model asked them to create a new account and buy tokens using her affiliate link. She gets revenue every time he buys tokens.

I wish I could tell my viewers, in a mature and adult way, that I am on cam but also on my period and I am not going to be tolerable to a lot of shenanigans like I normally will be. Of course, I could not get on cam and just rest but all you see is dolla dolla bills going to someone else while laying there miserable and wishing you could take hormonal birth control or get a uterine hysterectomy so the issue becomes a nonissue. Sorry if this was TMI, but it is a large part of our lives and something that interferes with energy levels and emotional stability.

I finally realized that when I am sick and tired of hearing men's opinions, I'm probably going to start within the next 48 hours.

Yeah, guys and mature and adult and periods don't seem to go together often enough. I guess it's especially true in cams.

Random; I started yesterday and rescheduled a first date because I wasn't feeling it and of course he was looking forward to it and was disappointed, which sucked. So, staying in on a Saturday night, I logged into MFC and chatted with a couple of models who are very cool. And when I logged out, I read a novel in bed until I was ready to sleep, feeling happier than before. :)

Nienna doesn't. He's just relaying the common attitude in society, even with some sex workers.
One model I watch is adamant she is not a prostitute. It angers me because she's forgetting all of the women who got her her cushy little cam gig going in the first place and she started as a hardcore couple can.

Not the same thing but the model I visit has a new member who comes and tips for a fairly innocuous fetish involving her wearing something. Thing is that he tips for her to wear it for a very long time and it's not something I am into and it's not just something standard. It doesn't disgust me but it's happened a couple of times now, right across the period where I am also looking to tip for things and I end up unable to tip for it at that time because I just don't get off on her performing for me while wearing the things he wants her to wear.

Be interesting to get a model perspective on where one member's niche fetish interferes with other members enjoyment.

Yeah, as @Vixxen81 suggested, I would hope the model would steer any prolonged fetish play that was outside of the norm for her public room into a private. I’ve been in this situation a few times too, where the tipper is pretty much playing dress-up with the model or asking for feet zooms from all different angles, or things that take a while like nail painting.

It’s a similar feeling to being in a store check-out line and the person in front of you needs 8 price-checks, has 40 coupons and is writing a paper check as payment. They’re not actually doing anything wrong, but you still get antsy, like it’s taking forever to get the other customers through the line. In a grocery store, you’d find another line. On a cam site, the temptation is to give up on that room and try again another day.

To the question @Marceline asked though, that type of thing wouldn’t dissuade me from visiting/buying content again. But the extreme stuff does, if it’s difficult to “unsee.”

Eh in hindsight I realize this might just be all "things people say that make you go WTF," but let's see how it plays out.

I want to know why guys on Chaturbate insist on not chatting but then blame a lack of chat for not tipping.
How "crazy" (emotional, demanding, unstable) does a model have to be before you're like "nope!"?
Is it really about the sexual stuff or is the connection more important or both or it depends or it changes?
Do you want to be able to hold a conversation with a model in the first place?
Hello. I have been reading a lot on this forum the last few months, now I finally decided to sign up. Don't know if I can contribute anything meaningful, but I will try at least.

I can not answer your first two questions, but I can give you my thinking on the last two.

I always want at least a little bit of a conversation before 'action'. I don't have to know the model inside out but a few words as a base are kind of a must for me. Without a 'connection' I am not nearly as much interested in the sexual stuff as I have compared to an established connection. The longer I am visiting cam sites (nearly 100% chaturbate) the more extreme this gets and I can not do anything about it. Maybe it is because being on cam sites regularly one can and will see so many beautiful girls naked no matter what, so one needs something 'special' to counter that? Don't know.
In the end this gets to a point where I visit only the same few models over and over again because I have the connection which I need already established.

Looking for new models will only take place when none of my favs are online or one of my favs gets another job and stops camming.

But I am rather sure that there are different types of men out there, because I realize or recognize it when I am in the room(s) of the mentioned model(s) and there are viewers which come into the room and immediately act totally different than me.

Why do some members come in, say hi, and when I say hi back, they either leave or say nothing further? I can't get my head around it and it makes me feel soooo stupid to say hi back to the walls.
I 'was' guilty of that, too and can only give my perspective.

In general I want to be polite and so I will say hi when I enter a room, it's the same online and offline. Earlier and some time ago, when I was browsing through the cam sites much more than nowadays, when I did not have regular models I visited (nowadays I have), I was in constant search for a girl which attracted me in this certain situation I was in. It may seem disrespectful (and it is somehow) but sitting in front of a computer you have the chance to open multiple rooms within seconds and put the rooms next to each other via browser tabs. The thumbnails tell you only so much.
So there could be be quite a few "Hi" within a short time spread over all the tabs because I clicked on lots of thumbnails. And if I found the 'right' model for the moment , I wanted to focus on her tab, while I closed the other tabs with the rooms I was not interested in. So the answer of the models would disappear into the nirvana.
Simply closing the tab (which means you will be leaving the room) without saying anything else is also easier than to answer the model again and tell her... what? Right away that you will leave because you found something better? That's difficult. Because this would not be pleasant as well. So saying nothing

It's kind of an awkward behaviour on the one hand, but on the other hand IMO it is spurred by the state of the modern internet or how browsing works. I don't do these multiple visits of different models at once anymore since I have realized how nitty it can be and I don't feel the need to anymore, but I believe that this demeanor you asked about would not take place nearly as much when internet browsers would not give you the option of more than one tab open at a time.

It does not matter where or when I am online or what I am looking for in the internet, 99% of the time I have more than one tab open. From my experience most other people use their browsers similar, so it would only be logical if cam site users do the same.

Ok, let's add another one.

Fan appreciation -- fan signs, tags in chat by their name, names in bios, high tipper screen shots in bio...yay, nah, or meh?
I am not interested in it. I also don't think that many guys pay attention to it.

Why in the bloody hell do guys not believe us when we say to tip off the menu?! I wrote it, I set the prices, you know I'm not a studio model and if you're in a studio model's room you know that tipping the menu MATTERS.
My opinion:
Because most of the guys or viewers in general don't have any clue about how the system in the background works. It took me quite a long time and a rather deep and grown connection to a certain model to get to know at least a little bit of the basics. And that was because SHE told me spontaneously about it outside of the cam site.
Since I know it I see a lot of things much different than before and in retrospect things which didn't make sense in the past make sense now.
And then you get interested more and more and when you have someone to ask about, like the model which I mentioned, you understand everything a little bit better, because there is someone who you trust and who gives you answers.

But the ordinary viewer has no clue about how/why goals are set, about how/why the menu is set, about payment periods or dates, about how much money a model gets for a certain amount of tokens and so on and so on. And since he does not know anything, he has no reason to question anything, so he will do what he thinks is right.

I've experienced it over and over again that guys tipped outside of the menu because they thought it would be good for the model - yes, you read it correctly.
They wanted to give the model tokens without having the model to act and thought the model would benefit.

Generally I visit (a) model(s) regularly for specific reasons. If there is a change in behaviour (or what you wanna call it) it could be that the reasons for the visits disappear.

There are very few rooms that do not use tip menus/goals. It's standard fare in 95% of the rooms.

Tipping outside of the menu isn't harmful, it's just not productive. The thumb nail needs to show action to new viewers. If nothing is happening they think nothing is happening regardless if we hit our token goals. I understand your explanation, though. I think there is a difference between ignorance and willful disregard of a model's room set up.

It's annoying to me too, and also amusing. If someone doesn't want to do full service, ok, but looking down on others for it is hypocritical and just stupid.

Hi,

I'm coming in the middle of the conversation, but I have a question about tipping outside of the menu.

Maybe it's my English that's too bad or learning more about your work I'm getting worried about sex workers...
But, when I tip outside the menu, doesn't it help the model?
Sometimes I tip a model even if I can't stay for her show, or if she's not online.
The models that I follow are often (almost all) very friendly and we can even do shows without sex, just chatting about this and that.

It is therefore preferable that I use the menu to tipper (on Stripchat for example).

P.S.: I just realized that it's to help achieve the objective of the show when there is one... Is that right?

I may not have understood it right but I think some sites, when you tip from the menu, have added functionality that either displays things in chat, does some jiggery pokery with the goal etc. I don't think there's any dispute over whether the model is getting the money. I think it's the interactivity aspect.

I see...
It makes sense now.
I'll take care of this now :)

On Stripchat specifically offline tips don't affect our stripscore and since stripscore determines model's placement on the site it is better to tip while the model is online if possible. But I still very much appreciate all offline tips and I'm sure any models you tip do too!

I'll wait to see you online to tip you more then ;)

Thanks for the information as I prefer to tip when it's the most helpful for the models.

As I say in an other room, I understand that it's your job. So if I can help you in anyway, I'm glad to do so. :)

This thread is fantastic but it totally needs more questions.
It's like a market research for the models and, you're right, it needs more questions.

It also the evidence that the models work is very versatile. You have to handle many aspect for your business.
What would be great is if there could be a cooperative for sex workers...
But the very existence of this kind of forum is already a huge step (and I'm not even talking about the associations that must exist, I don't know enough about it).

Thanks Amber!

Here's a question;

How do you see a cam site in comparison to a real life place? Is it like a strip club? a coffee shop? a restaurant with a hot date? Anywhere random where you can encounter a hot lady and talk to her?

If you had to explain a cam site to someone who had no idea of how it works - how would you explain it?

Hi, I appreciate your genuine interest. I work on Chaturbate and only Chaturbate. When someone tips an action item (show boobs, flash booty) that changes the thumbnail and gets more viewers than if someone comes in and throws down 200 tokens (random number) and then leaves. Active tipping plus viewers in the room = page rank.

For anyone wondering, the thumbnail on Chaturbate updates every 45 seconds.

It can sort of be all of those things depending on the model. Obviously hot food and drink aren't common factors in the experience but it can certainly feel like a date sometimes, especially if you are having a one-on-one conversation with a model rather than just the sexual stuff. I don't think there is one single real-life place it equates to entirely. I think it's very much it's own thing.

Nice to know you pay attention to those things. I finally exploded on Twitter, "I'm a total bitch beginning on the 14th of every month, do NOT judge me or take it personally it is literally my hormones telling me very bad things and giving me misinformation."

In the past when it wasn't so hush hush I'd throw it out in chat and guys would be all "gross," and leave. LOL
Not gonna lie, my regulars have seem my tampon string way too many times 🤣 New comers get grossed out and just run, my best reggie usually just says he lost brain cells watching me tug it back in on camera 🙈🙈

Hahaha same. I try to really tuck it up there but it still slips out sometimes and I'm just like here we go again.

Like Misterical, a cam site isn't a one place.
I sure first come for the sex (obviously) but I'm looking for more like a conversation, a talk with the model (and often with others users and knights for Stripchat).
Sometimes, I don't even come in a sexual purpose, but just to chat or to see if some of the models I really like are ok.

Actually, I was surprised to see how friendly models can be when you understand that rule :
When a model is in front of a webcam, it's like an office.
You are working and the room is YOUR business. If you're not in the mood for my uncle jokes, I won't be mad. If you need few more tokens to get to the goal, I'm glad to give, even if I don't stay.

I think that a cam site is what you come to be the true you.
Sometimes, peoples are truly jerks, sometimes, they are fine. ;)
