Best HD webcam for a MacBook Pro?

Hi,

I started camming on MFC last summer but kinda lost interest after a bit. I had no idea how camscore worked so I didn't take full advantage of my new model status as a result I quickly lost interest once I started making less tokens and had trouble keeping a regular schedule because I was really unmotivated. Now I find myself wanting to give it another try after reading all the great advice in this forum and I would like to invest in a good HD camera before I start in a few days. I use a MacBook Pro so my options are kinda limited I believe. I've heard good things about the Logitech C615 but I would like to know if there is something out there that you like better? The C910 seems awesome too but a bit out of my budget before I start making money, so I am wondering if maybe I should wait a little bit before I buy it or it's a better idea to start with the greatest quality from day one? I know it's not all about the camera, but personality and being consistent as well, so any advice is appreciated.

You should get the c920 and download "Webcam Settings" from the Mac app store for $8, I think I know where you see the c910 prices and it's ridiculous. The c920 is only $75, great quality and that will make it easier for people to like your personality lol

Thanks a lot for the suggestions and the link! Yeah the C910 looks awesome both price and specs wise except it's not Mac compatible. I am leaning more towards the C615 because you can mount it on a tripod. I hate having to get creative about webcam placement and finding flattering angles without a tripod. Also, former Apple employee here too :hello2:

the c920 is tripod compatible and if the c910 isn't and you want it to be, simply get a 1/4-20 nut and epoxy it to the bottom piece with some fast set epoxy. [that doesnt effect the clip on to the monitor function at all.] Doing this 'nut addon' does make sitting it flat on a table harder unless you also make a bit of a base to use the nut fitting. To me tho, that's not difficult at all and having the added base makes the cam considerably more stable.

The c910 and c920 are both uvc compliant so the macs universal driver can run them. The program called "webcam settings" gives you software to adjust all the settings, because Logitech only made windows software for those cams. Trust me you'll have no problem.

Oh they both are with that app? I'm sleep deprived and keep mixing up their names. I am definitely going for the C920 then. The C910 is a bit expensive for my budget right now and I believe it's an older model.

makes me happy to help, I think it was Hollie Cakes started using her's recently too. It's all about being able to control the settings. I love my 920, but I love my Macbook too, was so excited to find that app.

No I tried for a while but I'm still prefering the picture on MFC with my 9000 & regular Logitech settings so Bootcamp for me. I use my 920 for videos and Streamate and everything else that isn't broadcasting on MFC though.

Like Hollie, I always preferred running Bootcamp to cam with, though now I cam on a PC and use my mac for everything else in my life. I would love to figure out how to make Webcam Settings work with video recording rather than just relying on the Logitech default settings though.

I found the exact same thing with filming video-- I even downloaded like three different software trials with the same results. Funnily enough Quicktime recorded my movie perfectly :/

Why can't you record videos on your PC as we'll with the regular Logitech software and all the settings?
