I enjoyed CB as a free user. So much, in fact, that I purchased a basic membership (mainly so I could PM). I was even considering upgrading my account.

My interest was only in watching cams and tipping. I had no desire to broadcast or try to earn tips. I don't even own a webcam.

I had partially worked my way through 500 tokens, when I was suddenly unable to tip. Come to find out, my account was flagged. Age verification needed, they say.

I understand the need for this if someone is wanting to broadcast, and I applaud their diligence. But I am not comfortable at all with the age verification just so I can enjoy watching the girls.

I would love to know why I was flagged. Ah well. It's a shame. I really enjoy the site. I think I might have even fallen in love once or twice.

I only had the account for one week. The fact that I paid for a month of their service which is now useless to me has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Lesson learned. No more paid memberships for me.

In fairness, I should note that they did say they were going to refund me for the tokens I had not used. The membership, on the other hand...

Apologies if this does not belong here.

Well my wife cams for fun as a exhibitionist there and has been doing so for several months. Suddenly she get banned last night and needs an "age verification", which is funny since shes over 35. I wonder if someone was just screwing with people claiming they were underaged to get mods to ban.

Is sending a simple photo of an ID to prove you are 18 really that big of a deal? It is to try to keep more kids off of the site as much as possible. I have no clue why you specfically were flagged but they must have felt it was a legitimate reason and it is good that they followed up to make sure you were of legal age, IMO.

In my wifes case she doesn't want to have a 1099 to show up for tax purposes since we don't do our own taxes being we need an accountant for our business.

Age verification is used for two specific reasons for your two cases. In the case of the OP age verification is so that they can make sure you're the owner of the card you're using. There have been many, many cases of teenagers using mom and dad's credit cards. In the case of credit card fraud they always lose money so they tend to cover their butts.

In Hubby's case, once again, they're covering their asses so they don't lose out on money. It doesn't matter your wife's age or what age she looks. If they don't verify then they can get a pretty hefty fine just in case she actually ends up being underage.

I don't think anyone should be allowed to broadcast so much as a picture of their houseplants without age verification, not even for one minute. I got no interest in running across a minor on webcam. Performer ID is all good in my opinion. I fully support it.

Viewing is a different matter. The idea of sending a photo of my ID held up next to my face to a porn website just to watch completely creeps me the hell out. But maybe that is just because lean towards voyeurism, not exhibitionism.

If they are really concerned with keeping kids off the site, they should not allow anyone to access their website at all without first verifying their age. But they don't. They only require you to push a button to gain access.

As a freeloader I had no problems with CB. Decided to become a supporter and start tipping, and in under a week I got burned.

There seem to be two different things here. If they would have only asked me to go the Credit Card Authorization route, I probably would have done it. I don't really like the idea of sending them my id, but I get it. So their cc authorization procedure would have probably been acceptable.

But they wanted the Performer agreement/ age verification from me, which I do not find acceptable as a non-cam-owning non-performer. I tried to explain to support, to no avail. "Sorry, you have been flagged, nothing we can" do they said.

I should also point out that they were happy to charge my card initially without this age verification. Chaturbate has left me feeling very ripped off.

A 1099 isn't going to automatically show up just by doing age verification. If she's going the exhibitionist route, she's probably not going to be making much, if any, money, even if she is able to accept tips. Camsites only send a 1099 if you make over $600 that year with them. If she wants, she can just never cash out any tokens she earns (you have to actually cash the tokens out to receive payment, it's not sent automatically), and use them to tip other broadcasters, therefore never technically earning any income with the site.

They're just covering their asses by requesting age verification, because not everyone who looks of age actually is - I went to high school with a couple of guys who started balding very early, so that by 17, they appeared to be on their mid-40's and other high schoolers would approach them in stores, thinking they were adults, and ask if they'd buy them beer. Similarly, a lot of girls develop early, and easily appear to be of age while still in middle school. You never know someone's age for sure just by looking.
