Well it actually happened for the first time in 5 years lol... I got a site warning last night for broadcasting copyright violation: playing games / movies etc

I wasn't sure what the violation was as I had my webcam pointed at some random Lego model & playing copyright free music on Spotify (I also have a copyright free disclaimer for the music I play in my bio on Chaturbate).

But after checking with @punker barbie (thank you btw lol), I found out that Lego wasn't allowed as its Copyrighted & trademarked, plus some of the music on Spotify isn't copyrighted. But I have assured that the music I play IS copyright free:

NoCopyrightSounds:

Sorry if the links isnt allowed, but just wanted to point to the Spotify url to prove it is copyright free ;)

But saying all this.. if Lego isn't allowed because its Copyright & Trademarked, wouldn't this also apply to virtually everything else thats on a webcam feed as in clothes, computers, a game controller, etc etc

Just wondering what other models & users thoughts are on this subject ;)

My thoughts are chaturbate rules are extremely ridiculous. I will never work for their site because of how they ban people for "looking young" when they've submitted id or for playing music. No other cam site has these ridiculous rules.

I heard that Cams.com doesn't allow copyrighted music.

I actually emailed them out of curiosity to see if I could do a twitch type of stream on CB (I wasn't arsed to look at the rules tbh lol) and they were like ABSOLUTELY NOT. Alrighty then...

Are you telling me that a model would be warned/banned for building things with Legos on cam?

I thought I heard it all. CB is missing a few peas from their casserole.

Yep it looks like it lol I used to build Lego models, but seems I cant even do that now.
That's just beyond ridiculous to me. I know you love your darling CB but I hope you can realize how nuts some of their rules are.

hahaha oooh I do know how some rules are nuts. I do understand Chaturbate trying to be careful with copyright / trademark. If they're going to go down this path, it would mean that EVERYTHING that has a logo on it would not be allowed on cam lol.

Normally Chaturbate say they rely on reports from their users to look into situations of a violation, but I only had 1 person in my room who I was giving some help with obs and my cam is hidden from the browser section. So it would of needed Chaturbate to actually monitor my feed to see anything that was a violation. There was ZERO anonymous users in my room too lmao.

This has got to be a record or something for the number of Chaturbate threads here on the forum. Sheesh!

Hands down, some of the rulings are ridiculous. I can totally understand trying to preemptively create rules to make the site better, but the opposite has happened on numerous occasions with such things as:
  1. No stuffed animals are allowed on cam since it portrays the broadcaster to be underage
  2. Bad dragon toys becoming banned from the site without an official mention of the rule change (and then just recently having the ban being lifted again without another mention)
  3. Tail buttplugs becoming banned from the site without an official mention of the rule change (and then just recently having the ban being lifted again without another mention)
  4. Alcoholic beverages being banned from the site but only being enforced for people that were not in the most viewed rooms (and then just recently having the ban being lifted again without another mention)
  5. The copyrighted music rule (again, without any notable communication that this rule has gone into effect)
  6. Implementing a support rating system that (inadvertently or intentionally) caused support to never respond to any messages and therefore never resolve any issues
  7. Stating that harassment and other negative behavior on the site will be dealt with by CB to make the experience positive for everyone, only to have support ignore any reports of harassment and decline to intervene.
I could go on and on and on, but that doesn't help anything. As I'm sure Roydz will agree with me, CB DEFINITELY isn't perfect, but the majority of the community is what keeps us around and trying to do what we do to help them. If it wasn't for the people, I would have jumped ship years ago.

Alcoholic beverages being banned from the site but only being enforced for people that were not in the most viewed rooms (and then just recently having the ban being lifted again without another mention)

And to add to the insanity, while this rule was in place, there was a "what to have people tip for" that suggested having people tip for shots.

Youtube does the same thing for copyrighted music, and legos. They do this because they are constantly getting hit with DCMA take down notices. Most models have had the pleasure of dealing with their copyrighted materiel being used without their consent. And as such, I would think they would understand and respect copyright.

If legos, Sony Music, or who ever is sending CB send DCMA take downs. CB has to comply.

Most of the robots who do DCMA take-down are very limited. They can false flag videos. They can't tell the difference between fair use and abuse. Youtube, CB, who ever, doesn't have control over what claims these robots watch or file DCMA take-down for.

Yep I understand the music, thats why I play copyright free music from spotify ;)

I do understand regarding DMCA's and copyright as I deal with them for some of the models I help. But what I think most are trying to say here is that if Chaturbate are stopping anything that has a copyright or trademark against it, this could apply to just about 99% of things that apper on a performers webcam.

CB isn't filing the DCMA take downs. They receive them from the copyright holders. Right or wrong, copyright holders are making claims.

Youtube, PornHub, SoundCloud, Twitter, extra, all deal with this issue.

copyright holders are making claims.
I sincerely doubt this is actually happening, but CB is being extremely vigilant and overprotective to prevent it before it even happens. To a fault, IMO.

If MFC behaved in this way I would have quit the site years ago.

I didn't state that CB are filing the DMCA's, I said if Chaturbate are stopping (asking models not to do certain things on cam that can break copyright).

Quietly passing through the red tape in US is bill H.R. 1865, which would make all camsites having to mental with rules and regulation seeing they could be sued for content uploaded by users. It could be and might become much worse in future :S

Reading information on that, seems not really to have anything to do with copyrighted material, though. Maybe a stretch for this particular forum subject. (Though could apply in the 100 threads about CB models being banned for "looking underage" even though they've provided age verification.)

Indeed not directly targeted at copyright but rather a broadly cast net of liability, just meant that I understand how cb can be a bit jumpy about their rules, copyrightwise or other, but it is a shame they are so frustratingly bad at communicating their own sites rules to their own users.

I guess everyone knows what a lego is in the chaturbate world (maybe there were medical emergencies with that toy and just decided to ban it?). I wonder if they only know North American copyrights? Shit, one could wear a t-shirt with abercrombie and fitch on the front (not sure why anyone would want to these days) and be notified or banned? Who are these people that send out the banning notices and why do they not have common sense like punkerbarbie? I have always found the banning amazing considering how much stuff here is chaturbate banning vs. streammate/mfc. You would think everyone would break the rules and be banned on kind of a level. But Chaturbate takes the cake and wins for banning.

And this is exactly why so many people have been jumping ship lately. It's not necessarily the rules themselves, but they lack of clear communication and steady follow through from support (not including Shirley).

Yep very true, I didn't think that I would get a site warning for Lego lol as I'd been making models before while on cam and received no warning. But I thought that the music MIGHT get a warning as it was being played from Spotify - but with Shirleys help I designed a banner for my bio stating the music I found and played was copyright free.

Looking on Twitch I have noticed that they DO allow model making with Lego & I have also contacted Lego to ask where they stand on building Lego models on live webcam streams (if it breaks any copyright / trademark).

Yep I do know about YouTube, Twitter, Pornhub etc etc etc. But remember some of these sites only remove & warn their users AFTER a DMCA has been sent. YouTube is more like Chaturbate (some of the time) proactive in asking their users to remove copyright content BEFORE they receive a DMCA.

hopefully underwear, adult toys companies want the free promotion they're getting on adult websites.

It's allot easier to train a deep learning program to spot legos then it is to spot a specific set of underwear.
