Ok. Nicotine addiction is the hardest addiction to break, more difficult than heroin and cocaine. People often take up smoking as a way to cope with trauma. For those few minutes, the world kind of disappears.
I don't think it's a mark of a better person to never have smoked, you were lucky enough to not need that particular coping mechanism.
I’m actually having the opposite experience the past few days. People have been abnormally kind and helpful. I even just had a productive and friendly phone call with a customer service rep.
I may be an outlier, though. It’s not always like this.

Whenever they propose radically conservative things like this, they always pretend it’s to protect children. They’re all about protecting kids until it’s time to discuss ways to reduce school shootings. Then suddenly it’s not a concern anymore. Hypocrites.
One comment I saw that I really liked was this:
"GUNS don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people. PORN doesn't kill people, PEOPLE kill people." And I was like gotdamn nailed it!!
Besides, every male on the SCOTUS jerks it to porn at least 5 times a day. So, while stranger things have happened, I don't see that going down.
Yeah, these days I hesitate to think anything is impossible, but this one seems far-fetched.
Porn consumption is a bipartisan activity at best, and I have a hunch it might even skew conservative. If they really want to “empower” police to kick down the doors of porn enjoyers, they can prepare for many, many embarrassing PR nightmares in their own camp. Not sure they want to go down that road.
I had a good laugh that they snuck in “political” as one of the acceptable purposes for porn to exist. How the fuck does that work, exactly? Everyone put on a “Vote for Me” cap and make all the legal porn you want?
Wanted to tell you that you sharing your experience with emphysema is what has stopped me from going buy a pack of cigarettes today. I’m going through it today with withdrawal fatigue and grouchiness. I also had to get some videos filmed since I’ve been slacking and I’m so used to taking smoke breaks during filming. I’ve wanted a cigarette so damn bad, but I am worried about potential lung disease since I’ve been having very similar medical issues with it getting harder and harder to get over respiratory issues when I get sick. So, powering through and not going buy a pack today even though I really fucking want to.

Something that surprisingly helped me a bit was trying a vape.I know, it might sound kinda stupid and yeah, it’s still technically smoking but somehow, it helped me manage the withdrawal symptoms better. Go for one without nicotine! best of luck, you’ve got this!
Thanks! I’ve tried vaping before, but unfortunately vapes make me sick to my stomach. The sweet/fruity flavored ones especially, but I’ve tried the tobacco flavored vapes before and they also make me nauseous. Plus, I’m nasty and I love the way cigarettes taste haha. And even the tobacco flavored vapes don’t taste like an actual cigarette. Gonna just power through with this cold turkey approach!
Honestly, if these cravings don’t settle down in a week or so I might try it. My best friend’s doctor husband has been telling me for years he’ll write me a prescription for it, but I try not to take meds unless I absolutely need them.

The thing that absolutely gets me when it comes to proposed porn ban legislation is how narrow minded they are when it comes to defining porn.
Like, let’s say these porn bans did ever pass into law. Some of my best selling videos ever don’t qualify as “porn” based on their descriptions of what porn is. For example, the first video of mine to make it to the top clips site wide on my first clip site (and also the video that prompted me to become a full time content creator and stop live camming) was a vore video with no nudity, just me showing my bloated belly in a bikini saying I was going to eat the viewer. Based of their terminology of what porn is, those sorts of videos (along with the huge plethora of other non-nude fetish categories) would still be legal.
I lurk around conservative reddit and have also talked to conservatives I know irl about this. The craziest thing is that from what I’ve seen and heard, most Republicans with conservative ideals don’t want a porn ban. It’d actually probably shock a lot of people, but there’s a ton of Republicans/conservatives who claim they don’t like porn but they don’t believe the government should ban it. Because there’s still some conservatives/Republicans that believe in small government and don’t think the government should ban something consenting adults do or partake in. And some of them understand that it wouldn’t stop at porn, and what would they try banning next after porn? Unfortunately, they’re not nearly as loud as the conservatives hollering about how “porn bad need ban”, even if they probably outweigh them.
Girl I get it, I don't even take advil for cramps. But if that's what it takes to break it, do it. It takes like 6 weeks and then you're done.
I’m just hoping that I get my energy back soon, because once I do and I’m able to start working out and lifting weights I think that’ll be the biggest help with curbing cravings. Plus, I just need to work out in general because I started slacking like a month ago and I’ve been eating everything in sight for the last couple days.
Also, I decided to quit at a time when I thankfully don’t have a whole ton of stress in my life aside from the usual work stress. So that’s been a huge help.
But, if I’m still jonesing for a cigarette in a week or so I think I’ll definitely try Chantix!
I'm still constantly holding out hope that there are conservatives that don't buy in/drink the Koolaid of the MAGA agenda who still have some sense of reasoning within them.
I think that what most Americans want more than anything, no matter what side of the political spectrum they fall on, is to have affordable costs of living. Affordable groceries, rent, interest rates, insurance etc. The fact that one of Trump’s biggest campaign “promises” was that he would lower grocery prices as soon as he got into office and it’s been almost four months now and grocery prices are still high af has many people pissed off. The quickest way to get someone to turn against you is to fuck with their money and make their living situations less comfortable. And because of this, I have seen and heard more republicans starting to waver with their support of Trump/the MAGA agenda.
The one thing that sucks is that people who have been stalwart defenders of Trump/MAGA for years aren’t going to want to simply say “we were wrong”. Most people don’t like admitting that. But, it’s kinda telling when the most vocal Trump supporters have been kinda silent or doing soft criticisms of the shit Trump has been doing since getting back into office.
I also think a turning point will be when folks wake up to his scapegoat routine.
He always sets up other people to take the fall for him. He always sets up an alternate “bad guy” or a boogeyman. It’s the lawyer’s fault, or the media, or the left, or the contractors, or state governments, etc etc. I often wonder at what point his supporters will realize the common factor in all of these bad things is him. And then stop to think about why that is.

I don’t get the point of someone saying how they’ve never smoked before and they care so much about their health in response to someone who is talking about their struggle with quitting smoking. Like, congrats, I guess? But it is annoying when people who don’t or have never smoked act like they’re levitating above all us filthy cigarette smokers and that they’re so much better than people who have or do smoke.
Like, I had my first cigarette when I was about 13, because smoking was way more common back then and I was an idiot kid. By 17 I was a daily smoker, because smoking helped me cope with my anxiety.
But, aside from smoking, I live a relatively healthy life. I don’t eat fast food. I don’t drink soda, caffeine or alcohol. I eat very limited amounts of processed foods. Aside from the last month, I exercise regularly. I highly doubt most of the people who shit on others for smoking and act like they’re superior, healthier beings can say that. I know for a fact that the people who have given me shit irl for smoking have habits and lifestyles that are just as damaging to their health as smoking. It’s just so annoying.
I 100% agree. My mother gave me my first cigarette when I was 11. Became a regular habit at 14 because my friend's mom would buy cigs for both of us. I would hide the pack in my Caboodle.
I've never done cocaine or heroin or meth but I don't think I'm better than anyone who has. I simply knew I'd end up on the dead end of that stick because escaping reality is super sweet when your life is already in the gutter and mine was for a very long time.
I love that you are trying to kick it and looking for ways to make it happen. That chew stick thing looks pretty promising.
I've heard that tracking app for how much you spend on smokes is a real motivator, too.

I've written here before about how I managed to quit the alcohol, but that probably made me lean into the smokes even more to compensate.
I didn't manage to quit smoking until I was 30, and haven't had one for over 20 years, but the urge to pick one up I guess will always be with me.
Every day is a temptation to resume. I find coffee helps, but that's another issue for another time

I’m old enough to get where you’re going with that. And it’s a pretty good point.
Many people consume porn to satisfy an urge. They’re not going to stop satisfying that urge, with or without porn. I’m not sure these politicians have considered what new behaviors might become the norm, in a hypothetical world where porn isn’t available as an outlet for that (it will never happen, but for the sake of argument).
They may not like the result. But it’s similar to prohibition, IMO, because the urge to do the thing is strong enough that banning the source material will never stop the activity. People will find a way. Then what? Build jails specifically for wankers?
The real problem lies in making new porn.
There will always be back alley ways to FIND porn to watch. But MAKING it will still happen, in much less healthy and ethical ways. And those of us who rely on making it or sharing it for our income are much more worried than those who might just not have easy access to wank to it anymore.
This. I'm really irritated by the cavalier attitude towards a potential ban. It's not funny to me at any level.
