i am a new model and I get a slow room at times. I am asking what are ways to keep the conversation from dying.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Veeeeeeeewy Niiiiiiice ;) 8-)

Jups idea is fantastic, but last night the one thing to spark conversation was me saying random shit like "Zombies, sure are pesky little fuckers aren't they" & then I mumbled something about a three some with 6 midgets (some what of a math joke since their "half people", har har)

I'm lame though.

Totally off-topic & random but I fraking love your MFC profile. It's so cute/awesome/fun!
I feel boring now. rofl.

Anyway, I also need to learn how to better deal with a slow room, so I'll definitely be watching this thread. @_@

i'm stealing jupiter's idea too! i have way too many quiet nights that just end with me being cranky and getting rude members.

Guys like to offer advice and fix things, so talk about topics where they can give their input. For example:

- I'm going to a party tonight and can't decide which dress/shoes/etc to wear.
- Some friends want to go to the midnight showing of Harry Potter at the IMAX. I've never been to IMAX. Has anyone seen an IMAX movie?
- My roommate situation is so messed up. She wants me to pay all the utilities cuz she doesn't have a job.

Stuff like that will provide opportunities for all the guys to give their input and it allows you to take the discussion in different directions.

I personally don't like when models ask directed questions to the room as if we're supposed to come up with a unified answer, like "What type of music do you want to hear?" I don't want to respond to that since I don't want to speak for the group. But if instead she asked "What type of music should I play at my party?", I'd feel more comfortable responding since I'd just be adding to the conversation.

Banning trolls. Not just banning them when they say something stupid...more like teasing them, even humoring them--THEN ban them with lots of flair--timing is important. :) My point is, members LOVE it when trolls are banned; it can cause a 15 minute conversation when done cleverly. Some models even keep a running count in their topic of how many trolls they've banned during the current session.

While I hate to endorse this, you're totally right. There are some models I used to watch just because how the berated & banned trolls & I've had members say similar things about me. Feeding trolls CAN create some pretty kick ass conversations, lol.

I can't remember whose room I saw this in, but when it was quiet she just said:
Is anyone going to talk to me? I want to have some fun but all this quiet makes me sad :(

And then people started talking. I used that on LiveJasmin with ok results, but the people there don't really want to talk and hang for the most part.

Yups. I feel bad for the models who I really like but who allow a couple trolls commandeer their room. They generally add nothing and may even cause "normals" to leave without tipping. :( So, I'm all for it if someone finds a use for them at their expense. :)

tried jupiter's idea tonight with even worse results than normal. :( i just said "if we get people talking i'll flash. just say hi and i'll flash". not even close. :( so i change my topic to "zombies are REALLY hard to kill" and in main i kept saying MFC ZOMBIES ARE ANNOYING. lol

wow  yeah I guess saying interesting things still does require a certain level of intelligence from viewers.

Did you open up basic and guest chat? They'd often be jumping out of their skins to "earn" free boobs and there's an occasional higher-functioning guest or basic among them who may say something other than "tits now" and actually start a conversation among the premiums (then you mute him again)

Final, desperate measure: plagiarism. :D When your room becomes quiet, quietly peek into other models' rooms and steal whatever chatter they're engaged in at the moment that seems to be working on their members.

Warning: Do NOT attempt to plagiarize UKGameGirl... non-stop talking can often lead otherwise normal people to insanity.

Wish MFC had a kick feature - to remove people from the room.

I get the impression that some, even regulars, sit in a room - minimise the window to just the video feed, turn off the volume (can't see text convo) and then go on watching TV, or working, or doing whatever online.

Negative morale hit when you try talking to 8 premiums in your room to get no response from any of them. Truth is they may not even be there, and only the "ding" of a personal message to them may grab their attention...

A kick feature would at least let you know who's there but ignoring you because they don't want to talk (and if they come back, maybe they'll start if you talk to them directly), and those that aren't even really there at all...

I was going to suggest a feature that puts (away) after a person's name if they haven't touched the keyboard or mouse in a few minutes but I guess I'm sometimes guilty of using both hands while watching MFC

I really wish there was a kick/warning feature on MFC. I think it would help whatever you want them to stop doing in chat sink in a bit more...especially if you could type out a quick message for why they got the boot.

yea i had it open to basics chat but all i got constantly were "show boobies now", "this counts as talking so show tits"...it was from the same person and he was a premium. i banned him then he called me a bitch and said he *would have* tipped after i flashed. derp....i laugh at the people who think i'm stupid and try to get free shows. oh well, maybe i'll do better the rest of this week. we'll see.

Keep working on it hun! I think you should just crank the music up loud and do a bit of raving to some tunes! Or introduce whatever party trick you have!

I've done "name your favorite Weird Al song for a flash" and "Name a School House Rock song for a flash." It's a good way to get guys in the room and talking about some of their favorite things. Every once in a while when some basic is begging for tits one of my other guys will tease them saying "there is only one way to get free tits in this room" and PM me with a song title. It amuses me.

Honestly, I need to start doing that again. I've been too stressed lately. I always find the room is fuller and more fun when I am being silly.

Great idea, if there's one things guys like talking about, it's whatever music/tv/hobby/sport they're into lol...as long as you can remain awake

I don't think it would be a good idea to kick quiet members. Having more members in your room means you attract more people. If I'm just browsing around, I'm more likely to stick around a room with more members in it. Plus, if you kick them they may never come back.

There may be a lot of reasons for members not talking: shy, non-English speaker, stepped away from computer, had to switch to another window, etc. Just because they are not speaking at that moment doesn't mean they will never speak. And even if they never speak, they give the appearance of a bigger room.

Also, I don't like when the model expects the members to provide the entertainment. I'm there to enjoy the model, not listen to JoeMember talk about how he worked on his car all day.

As you know, it's hard to start conversations. Most people, myself included, are more comfortable adding to the conversation as opposed to starting it. If your room is quiet, it likely means you don't have guys who like to start conversations. So that job is up to you. Talk about interesting things where guys can easily add to the conversation. Unless the conversation is flowing, don't ask questions. If no one answers, the silence will stand out.

This is all great in theory, BUT I think the issue is more that girls are chatting and being vocal and they still don't get any response.

It kinda gets to the point where you say WTF else can I do?

Yea pretty much. I hate when I start talking about things and I just have a silent room no matter what I say. Then occassionally I'll just be like "ok I'm going, bye" and I'll wait an entire minute (60 seconds) before logging out....and no one even says bye.....that's when I just want to murder someone O.O Luckily those are few and far between, but they still suck.
