Oh wow. that's terrible.
I can't imagine being in the middle of any natural disaster like that.

When I heard about this I watched extra hard on Twitter for all my Ozzie cam whore friends. I didn't think it was that bad until a couple days ago. Be safe if you're in the very wet action (pun not really intended).

I know that not all of you believe in God, so instead of sending my prayers I will send all my well wishes to all the people of Australia. What you are going through is terrible, but if I know the Aussies I feel confident that you will ban together to get through all of this. Just please be careful while doing it. :)

Only just saw this thread. I lived in Brisbane for 6 years and was planning on moving back this year but doubt I'll get a rental after this!
It was very scary, the power and phone to my parents house got cut off, and they had just bought a house close to the river. For days I had to watch video on the news saying their suburb was one of the worst affected. Turns out that their house was luckily just far enough up a hill to escape the floods, but the street below them was completely under.

And don't worry Bocefish, Tahnee's ok!!! :p

I am glad that you and your parents are OK, Indi!! I was worried about you and Tahnee there for a while! :romance-romance:

A bit late to the party...but this is a couple of pics of my street about two weeks ago.

I'm very lucky I escaped major damage as my apartment was about 3 meters higher than the water, but the cleanup effort and ongoing problems have been massive.

I hope everyone in australia is ok *huge hugs*
It is such a beautiful country. I hope everything gets back to normal very soon :) xxoxx

Is that near Auchenflower train station? Hard to tell because it's underwater but that first street looks familiar.

Yep it's just further (behind camera) about 50 metres up the hill from that little shop.

Second pic is same street (Lang Parade) just further down toward Milton.

Ahh I knew it! I used to walk down that street every single day. That's insane, I was hard to gauge how high the water was just from seeing helicopter footage. But seeing a street that I actually know has put it into perspective. It's unbelievable the water got that high!

And I used to love that shop, the owners used to sell me cigarettes without checking ID when I was 17... lol

LOL!! yeah I'm friends with the owners of that shop been taking cold drinks down to John the dad during the day while he cleans and rebuilds...Frank and Michael (the 2 sons) have been helping out as well...I cant wait til they're back on their feet there, I'm like 20 meters from there so I go there every other day.
