This is too funny, I have to share it. So, I'm running regular grim batol on my tankadin. Technically he can run heroics right now, but I would prefer him not to until he gets rid of his green quality gear. Well, we get past the second boss, and the tanking trinket drops. This would be a giant upgrade for me, as I'm using the 264 ilvl stam trinket at the time being. I of course roll need, and so does the hunter. He ends up winning it. When I point this out, he simply states that he needs it so raise his item level so he can run heroics. I then simply ask him if hunters need to have their parry up at a certain level for any reason. He then asks if I read what he said before. I then ask him again. After a minute, I vote to kick him. Reason : Huntard :D . Nice job keeping the stereotype going there, buddy.

Not unheard of survival arena build uses deterrence. Melee class gets to you, pop deterrence, wingclip, disengage, frost/snake trap ---> kite

Pretty sure he was just a retard tho, bad luck on the trinket mate.

Edit: oh and deterrence is based on parry was the original point heh.

Deterrence
2 min cooldown
Requires Melee Weapon
When activated, increases the chance melee attacks will miss you by 100%, reduces the chance ranged attacks will hit you by 100% and grants a 100% chance to deflect spells. While Deterrence is active, you cannot attack. Lasts 5 sec.

This makes it look like even with counting in Deterrence, it'd be mostly useless for a Huntard. Resilience would be better for PvP since it reduces damage taken from players. Some people are dumb. I lost out on a tanking trinket to the healer. Granted, the healer had more right to it than most since it was a druid and *could* tank but I was freakin' tanking right then. ><

It happens a lot sadly.

ah, yeah they must have changed it cos it used to double your parry skill for a short time. Even then, agreed it would still be a waste of a trinket slot (and pretty much a waste of a talent too) but, they DID use parry...technically :P

There used to be a mod that would tag everything so it looked like it said Class: Hunter on its stats lol

what I used to find hilarious was when rogues or ret pallies would be drooling over some BIS dagger or polearm I used for a statstick, if I felt extra mean I'd pull out the version of it I gemmed for pvp haha :orcs-birdies:

yeah druids and pallies who heal to roll on tank shit annoyed the hell out of me when I was tanking on dk...I had to do crappy dps while waiting for tank stuff to drop that the current tank didn't need, but healers think they're special

Oh and this is pretty obvious but if I was tanking etc and something dropped I needed, I'd just have all my buddies roll too just in case. They might still get it...but much less chance.

Yeah, but he was just needing on the trinket to boost is avg item level. I doubt he really did much pvp

This is why I don't pug when tanking. Hell, I don't even need any heroic gear anymore and I still refuse to tank a pug(still run the daily and I do enjoy tanking). There is zero excuse for a hunter rolling on that item. That bliz hasn't instituted some kind of gear-to-spec check system by now is pretty retarded.

And their new(4.1 patch) incentives to tank are pretty lackluster.

Well I was just gonna say...look at it this way, at least you still have something to look forward to getting. I know it may not seem like much consolation when you don't get something that finally drops...

But as a hunter and main raider in the top horde ranked guild in the US I never needed anything from heroics, and by end of jan 2010 even our alts had 25 man tier 10 and shit cos we'd do 2, sometimes 3 runs a week, and I'd run that first ICC one for daily tokens and other physical dps would jump for joy when they saw I had heroic Death's Choice/Deathbringer's Will and healers and tanks and shit could roll offspec on Needle Encrusted Scorpion.

I had best in slot everything, literally, cos for like 6 months I was the *only* raiding hunter, and you know what? It's boring as fuck. Yeah cool people faint over your gearscore, that's funny for the first week or two. I spent most of my time sitting on a protodrake somewhere or jumping constantly around dalaran...boring as shit. Things only got fun twice a year when they'd release a new raid. So the week after arthas came out we killed him and I quit wow, thank god.

My point just being...the game isn't really any fun anymore when you have every thing you need. So just think of it as an opportunity to experience the excitement of it dropping all over again :D I played almost 6 years and the best time I ever had was levelling up the first time, and then probly first raiding MC back in the day...after that it never got quite as good again.

blizzard has made it so easy to get loot I found it quite hard to get upset over idiots that roll on loot that doesn't give them any benefit.

Just one of many reasons I don't enjoy playing it anymore. The game is such a bore and a chore nowadays.

I dunno... I think I would enjoy Cataclysm as it is now if not for 2 things.

1. The healing system changed too much too fast. It should have changed a BIT when they first released the Cata Talent trees... pushing us in the right direction. By the time I hit 83 and 84, I couldn't cast flash heal without it being a liability on my mana pool for the rest of a pull/fight till I'd gotten significantly better gear at 85.

2. My guild imploding made running heroics insanely painful. Healing idiots in a PUG? UGH! So I got my priest close to raid ready then got frustrated and gave up on her. She's sitting on Stormrage about 2 or 3 upgrades from being able to heal raids and has been that way since probably the 3rd week of Cata.

As for WotLK raiding like Jupiter was talking about, yeah... I wasn't even completely geared and found things had started getting boring. ICC was so insanely easy at the beginning and then ramped up to the last 2 or 3 fights that were difficult enough that some of our people just couldn't cut it. I never got bored with LK because he still gave me carpal tunnel with how much gear I still needed... but Sindragosa was getting straight up boring for me as long as I wasn't lagging but some of our other players just couldn't hack it. The fight never slowed down for them. Being both bored and frustrated at the same time is not very good motivation to even want to show up to runs. Oh well... I got my Kingslayer title and had enough gear to outheal almost everyone I ran with as a holy priest. Was mostly a successful expansion for me. :)
