Guys: Would you date a girl in this industry?

I have searched through, and have not found one topic dedicated to this. I ask this because I was watching a television program a few days ago. In the program, a guy said he would NEVER date a girl in the adult industry. I have always wanted several takes on this subject.

Say you were starting to get to know a girl. Say, the "girl next door" type. She's sweet, in school, has a good personality, you know the whole nine yards. If you were to find out shortly after meeting her that she worked in the adult industry, would you seriously consider a REAL, lasting relationship with her? I am talking a "i respect you and love you and want to stick with you through everything" type relationship. Or would you disrespect her, or not take her as seriously because of the industry she is in?

On the dating site I'm trying to meet someone on, they ask a question similar to this. On it, I say "yes" but add the comment "It depends on what she did or is doing." I can't give specific examples of what is OK and what isn't because I think it would be totally on a case-by-case basis for me.

Yeah I would, it's just a job - it would boil down to the way the girl handles things off-cam. To me, the idea of rejecting someone because of their profession is reprehensible.

If they were a pornstar, it would be an issue - I wouldn't like or respect them any less, but in that case their work would interfere with what I want from a relationship (sexual exclusivity).

Adult industry is a very broad term for many many jobs. Technically a person working in a dildo factory is in the adult industry. But I think the question isn't meant to be that broad.

If you are asking specifically about:
porn stars - I couldn't. When I am in a relationship with a woman, she's mine and I don't share.

cam models or things like that(thinking phone sex operators, etc...) - I'd have no issue at all. Because they only have themselves or toys 90% of the time to get off, I'd think they'd be all horned up for someone else to touch them and stuff =)

A porn star? Maybe. Lots of guys get their start in porn by dating a girl and demanding exclusivity, meaning they get to be the guy in the scene. He's directing some of the biggest films the industry's ever seen, and all because he was banging Jenna Jameson. Goes to show if you keep your head about you, things can work out for the better.

Almost married a hooker once early on in my life and yes I knew exactly what she did for a living. The fact that she was honest with me only served to make me love her more (it was drugs that got in the way, on her side).
So yeah I would have no trouble dating a member of the porn industry. I would rather a partner that can be honest to me about these things than a slut who fucks around behind my back and lets face it, it's just sex. Good, clean, fun sex.
So again, no probs dating them, marrying them or even raising a family even if she stayed in the industry. But then again I'm possibly a "FREAK".

Oh and I didn't answer the question(s) in your first post - I have no problem with a woman doing what she wants to for a living, as long as she is doing it by choice, not forced to. And that goes for things I think are still stupidly illegal like prostitution. I mean c'mon sex is ALWAYS paid for in some way or form. So finding out someone did _________(insert job) for a living wouldn't have any bearing on me respecting them or not, I always base that on the person's action, attitude and the like. If I think you're a royal cunt or a giant festering asshole, its not because of what you do for a living, the color of your skin or what god you pray to, its because you have proven to me that you are.

But I sorta forgot about strippers in my list, its a huge jump from porn star to cam whore lol.

stripper - I'd like to believe that I have grown enough to handle my jealousy if I was involved with a stripper but I dunno. I was never one of those "Why you looking at my woman?" type guys...but it did get in the way of a few relationships, not enough to cause a break up tho.

Which I think would be the problem being involved with most anyone working in that sort of job, jealousy. No jealousy at all sorta gives off that vibe of you don't care, least to me. A lot of women have baggage and are plagued by poor decision making and coping skills, they aren't just synonymous with women in the sex industry and being any of those things doesn't make a woman any more likely to work in the sex industry.

As for other guys looking at her, it's pretty simple. Look, but don't touch. If you know where the lines of polite society are and dont cross them, everything is fine.

All that matters is does it make her happy, and does she come home at night. The only reason I would object to ANY job is if it was doing it and not enjoying it.... be it stripper, office manager or whatever.

I actually have dated a few women in the entertainment business... dancers. Both of them had issues with me NOT giving a shit what they did for a living, I think back now, and I think they were looking for a way out and someone to date who would object to their job and give them an excuse to quit. I dunno. It seemed to bother both of them that it didn't bother me. I got the "you dont care" and the "if you loved me you'd be more upset" that men watched them all day.

I thought that was sort of the point of their job, to get all eyes on them and make good money. Stupid me eh?

Oh and once a very long time ago, I was dating a gal who turned out to be a hooker, and when I ended the relationship she said I did it because I objected to "sex workers".
Sex workers who lie to me, and put me at risk for STDs.... yup. You bet.

I can't imagine why anyone would have objections to online-on cam sex working. It's safe clean and profitable. What's there to object to?

Yeah, well I kinda assumed that was a given...exes and I have agreed to have mutual blood tests before unprotected sex more than once and all but that one were (presumably) never sex workers.

Herpes though...well, for a start herpes won't show up on a blood test, is incurable, is transmittable despite any safe sex practices and basically if you fall in love with someone who has been unfortunate to to have contracted herpes well...either you can choose love or to be herpes-free.

I'd choose love personally, but thankfully I've never had to make the choice.

It wasn't my intention to offend any models... I made my original statement with the idea I've dated plenty of non-sex workers with poor decision making and coping skills as well... But comparing the group of non-sex workers to sex workers... The non-sex workers with "baggage" was a smaller percentage than the sex workers with "baggage".... I mean of the 2 strippers I messed around with... 100% of them had issues with poor decision making and coping skills... I am not saying the were bad people

With that in mind... I'm not saying every model has issues... Just that of some of the girls I've gotten to know... there seemed to be similarities... I'm simply saying that the prudent thing would be to walk into any situation with your eyes open

No guarantee you wouldn't get herpes next time you had sex with someone else - it's transmittable even when it's not currently visible, and the carrier may not even know they have it.

And for the record I'm not saying I'd WANT to have herpes, but it's a pretty small sacrifice if you found someone who's perfect for you - which is a hell of a lot rarer than herpes (1 in 6 Americans have herpes btw..). Statistically several people in this thread have herpes.
