Jesus H Roosevelt I finally got somewhere. I'd be lost without this forum!

I don't know why it was so hard for me to understand you just put the code in the edit profile boxes. And they are all out of order, I was going back to CSS and screwing it up massively. I had to start over so many times now I'm like a expert and stuff

:p

BUT if you want to lead a member to a page where he can leave you a tip without having to enter your name, you will need your broadcaster ID.
The link you'll use will look like this:
Code:
http://www.myfreecams.com/mfc2/php/tip.php?request=tip&broadcaster_id=YOURBROADCASTERID

Im just veryifying my assumption - are we not able to use a broadcaster ID anymore? Im unable to locate a place that I can get my ID# for it. It's no longer showing when you try the PM. I apologize if this has already been answered, I didnt see a post on it through this thread...

Edit: I found the link above for it! I didnt realize that is what it was meant to do haha
So my next question is... Where am I putting this link?

Can I not put this option on my SM profile?
Everyone here is talking about the coding in MFC, but I don't think SM even has a code that I can edit - I feel like I've exhausted all avenues!
I would really love this option, but I just can't figure it out - HELP?

Had a little free time tonight.

Tip Me Link Generator.

Let me know if there are any bugs you stumble across. I only tested it briefly in Firefox and Chrome.

this was suuuper helpful! I guess they updated the PM windows so there's no more broadcaster ID up in the URL? Just showing a 0 for the ID for me. In any case this worked like a charm to find my ID, thank you very much!

If this is still getting use, I likely need to host it elsewhere. Dropbox will be discontinuing serving HTML sometime soon. I'll look into it.

Edit note, Amber - 10/13/16: Now hosted by CamModelExpress! - https://www.cammodelexpress.com/tip-me-generator/
As mentioned in the edit in the quote, CamModelExpress will be hosting the generator going forward. Couldn't think of a better home for it and I really appreciate their taking it up!

Please use the new link above from now on!

Wondering about the benefit of continuing to use the broadcasterID format vs. the MFC implemented mfc.im/modelname/tip format. MFC's wiki states that if a girl temporarily changes her username that it will forward to her new name, but not sure how long. So I suppose the benefit is broadcasterID never changes.

Aye?

I expect anything using a name rather than the ID is going to be fallible at some point until they restrict any name to a specific model (ie once a name is claimed, its owned by that ID). After that it comes down to ease of use and how much you care the link always works. mfc.im is certainly much easier to remember.

Thank you SO much! This is amazing!! I wish I could do that, lol, but you rock, thanks! (I'm new and it wouldn't let me hit 'like', but this deserved a written TY anyway!) :)

Using
Code:
http://www.myfreecams.com/mfc2/php/tip.php?request=tip&username=MODELNAME
is not the best option.

It has the same results as simply using
Code:
http://www.myfreecams.com/mfc2/php/tip.php?request=tip
, which doesn't have a model name in the end as you can see.
You still have to enter the model's name manually on the page, see:

How do you get your broadcaster ID?
Go to the homepage. Act as if you want to send your model account a PM.

Look at what it says on top of the pop up window:

The number I underlined in pink is my broadcaster ID!
Next, open
Code:
http://www.myfreecams.com/mfc2/php/tip.php?request=tip&broadcaster_id=YOURBROADCASTERID

You'll get this window:

This way people can tip you directly in a single step, without having to enter your name first.
Now if you want to shorten your offline tip link, so that people can remember it and you can easily use it on Twitter, you can use a link shortener like tiny.cc to make a really short URL. Mine is tiny.cc/tiplily, for example.
Thank you so much! This is an awesome break down, super helpful!
