MFC doesn't necessarily promote anything.

It sounds like you havent seen the ever present ads for MFC that bring in the freeloading basement dwellers... "Never pay for live sex shows again. If you do you're stupid.... blabla."
~paraphrasing and I don't have a link atm or I'd put it here for you...

If that's not promoting, I guess I don't know what promoting is.
I keep seeing the assumption that's an ad for mfc, but doesn't it have a BAF link to follow? I think that ad was made not by MFC but by someone milking the free BAF 200 tokens for every premium (and I think 20 for every basic?) which they may then either spend on their favourite model or launder back to themselves through a friendly model. Anyway, I've looked and I've seen nothing to suggest MFC itself is behind that video/ad.

Im sure its just the girl in me but this made me AWWWW all over the place. So cute. I love Ambers sweet little face in your profile pic too. Guys like you make up for the douchers that can't figure out "what they tipped for". Ok, Im gonna go find an AT&T commercial to cry over now.
Yeah equating MFC with a porn site is, to me, missing the point. Sure you can find gorgeous sexy women masturbating - but how about gorgeous, sexy, intelligent women live. It's not about "sex" to me anymore. Yeah, it is a little, obviously I get turned on, join group shows and such. I also tip, what I can when I can, and it's also never that much because I spread it around.
On the personal side though, one model for instance who I've been friends with ever since I joined the site was deeply saddened when I told her about my cat's illness. I speak to her every day and she's a cat-lover and had been hearing about Kato most of the time I'd known her and upon hearing the news immediately took scans of his ultrasound and x-ray to her vet for a second opinion. She also gave me her phone number and said to call or message -anytime- (this was stressed) if there was anything she could do. That's not about sex, it's about friendship and you won't find it on Brazzers or youporn.

When I tip it's often not about sex either (sometimes it is though heh :pervy ), it's about appreciation - multifaceted appreciation for company, conversation, to see a reaction, to say 'thankyou' and help just a tiny little bit in keeping a great gal on MFC where we get to see and talk to her instead of her having to go work some other job.

A model I used to be friends with was crying with me the night my grandmother died last year, and stayed with me all night, so I would not be alone. You can make very good friends on MFC even though you may be on opposite sides of a continent. A lot of people come to ACF and say you are not real friends with the model because you do not hang out in real life, but that is a total lie. Friendship is not about sharing bodies it is about sharing lives.

I do believe we've assessed that they are affiliate ads, not BAF spammer ads. The code in the link is different for each.

Either way, Asha is right. MFC would have a few more handy features for countdowns and whatnot if they wanted to promote public shows. They may turn many blind eyes at the public shows, but they aren't doing anything to steer girls into doing public vs. group/private.

THIS is the reason I am not on MyFreeCams anymore. I devote all of my time now to my REAL camsites and various other streams of income in the camming world. I am now basking on higher profits and overall better quality of life.

MyFreeCams caters to freeloaders SO bad it is ridiculous. The lounge? Are you kidding me? "Hey, let's find a free show!" Girls can barely get traffic in their room anymore unless they are naked. Then, lots and lots of members sit there and stare like retarded idiots while 3 guys tip.
No thanks, I stay fully clothed in free chat. And the sites I am on allow me to do it while making my guys very happy and making money. :D

But everyone has their preferences. Different strokes for different folks.
Lol it's true, room counts while dressed these days are a mere fraction what they used to be, once naked they pile in.

I really do wish you'd avoid using the words "real cam site" against MFC, though, as clearly it is a real cam site, it just operates differently than the more "traditional" ones.

I apologize for not putting the right word usage in there. MFC is a real camsite. There are a lot of features about the site itself I miss and regulars I really miss, also. I'm just accustomed and used to camsites as the "old school" ways of camming, i.e.- paid chat cam sites and/or sites that have free chat but are more focused on privates. Haha, I'm old fashioned. :)

I'm pretty sure, yeah, there are some links out there that reference codes that are not BAF links. I don't know if they advertise affiliate programs anywhere, though.

I think that these sites could use a system where if you have watched a model for more than 30 minutes without tipping it bounces you into another room, and you can't join again without tossing in a few tokens until the next day. That way no one can cry that it's unfair, and no one will be able to sit and silently watch a model work for hours without ever showing appreciation.
I broadcast for long periods of time, up to 10 hours a night sometimes, and some members are there the entire time I'm online every night without ever pitching in for my show. It would be nice if there was a limit on how much they could get for free each night. Nothing so short that they loose interest in the site, but enough to encourage them to tip even a few tokens for the models they enjoy.

There is a limit and I see many girls use it, especially now that the "MFC free TV" attitude seems to be so infectious. If you recognize someone as a non tipper or pure freeloader, simply call them out by name [or type] and give them the option of contributing [in one form or another] or get a 6hr ban. Tell them in public that you see them there for x hours/days or whatever and they do absolutely nothing to participate in the room. I also see some of the girls making a game out of it. The actively participating members get to tip to ban someone they feel isn't contributing or even just being an asshat in the room. Of course you need a larger room for this but it does seem to shake the cobwebs out of their brains.

This is a rather bitchy move that I've only heard of maybe a dozen models doing. You attract more flies with honey, as they say. Most of the models who do this sort of thing run off a lot of potential tippers and get a bad rap. After that I can only assume that the boys who like punishment and wallet domination stay.

That is your opinion and no one said you needed to do it Asha..... while you may see it as bitchy, some women may get fed up with seeing the same nics day after day, week after week with zero input of conversation or anything else to contribute to a positive room mood. The last time I saw it happen, only 2 were banned. Both pm'd her and were let back in. They have since joined the ranks of the talkers and help keep the room alive. Sometimes guys just need a bit of a wakeup call before they realize there is another way besides sitting on their cocks in silence ....

My beef is with the premiums who are so stingy with their tokens and expect you to give them the moon, stars, and sun for 10 tokens. As I've said before, I'm grateful for every tip, no matter how large or small. :) But be realistic, and use common sense. If you tip me 10 tokens, I'll give you a sincere thank you and smile, and a flash (my flashes tend to be a little long). When the flash is over, you should not be complaining "Damn, y u puttin ur panties back on?"

There is a specific token goal to get to topless (500), and then butt ass naked (another 500). One tip of 10 tokens isn't gonna keep me half naked for the rest of the night. Sorry, bro.....

Also, I know that there are some members who choose to only A) tip towards public cum shows or B) use their tokens to spy on private shows. That's fine and all, but I don't do public cum shows. So don't come to my room and "laugh your ass off" when I tell you to tip for your request ("Ass, bb."). Oh, you're saving your tokens for public cum shows, or to spy on private shows? Okay, so then why are you in my room demanding freebies? Shame on you. You DO have tokens.

Agree, Asha. Sure, you want as many tippers as possible. But if someone pervs in silence without tipping or contributing negatively to the chat by making stupid statements or demands, is it really necessary to call them out? They're not keeping others from tipping, they're not affecting the chat or the atmosphere of the room, and with some rare exceptions (as mentioned by SoTxBob) I doubt many silent squatters are going to be shamed or bullied into tipping. Really, they're just names on a list; nothing more, nothing less.

Frankly, if I have tokens and am ready to tip here and there, and I come across a model acting like this, I'm splitting and finding a more pleasant girl to spend on. I think, in the long run, that kind of attitude will alienate more potential tippers than reform tightwads.

I've got to admit, when I first came to MFC and I hadn't yet invested in tokens, I'd look for a free show, enjoy it, then leave. I kinda feel ashamed about that now. Amber was actually the reason I invested in a premium account, and since chatting with her and models like her, who are just enjoyable people to talk to, I really don't even want to jump in on some random free show. It just doesn't appeal.

I think that's really the distinction between what MFC should be, and sites like brazzers or pornhub. For me it's not even having a girl 'scream out your name', as said earlier (Not that that's happened...) it's when you say something or make a tip and you see the girl on the other end smile or laugh. That sort of interaction is, on an emotional level, way beyond (laughably so) simple paysites. In the end that emotional connection makes the 'actual' show far far more enjoyable.

I don't know if I'll come off as lonely for saying this, I'm not sure if I care, but I can honestly say that my favourite moment on MFC was Amber smiling right into the cam after I sent her a tip, and knowing she was looking at me.

Wow, that was sappy.

I totally agree with you, except my favourite moment was seeing the smiles of an other model (Apologies Amber!)
After the described 'ashaming moments' I tipped them offline later, sometimes weeks later...lol

A little off topic, but wanted to chime in -- I've sometimes tipped a model weeks or even months after having perved from PM a time or two (1,000+ tips) just to say thanks for all the fun. I hate rooms and you'll rarely catch me in one (mostly for my contempt for the crowd of idiots in them), but if I realize I'm perving in on a girl more than a few times, I make sure they know I appreciate the show. All the same, if you see me or any other member perving and not contributing to the conversation, well say something -- sometimes we forget to say hi or tip. :)

PLease don't take offense at any of this, I am looking for a hard dose of reality with this issue. A close friend is a model struggling with these issues and this is what I observe.. First, consider the type of guy the vast majority of members is.. and what he came there to get. Room after room of attractive girls are giving it all away for nothing, to this guy.. why would he pony up one damn penny? Do you think he is looking for someone special? No, he want as much explicit action as he can get for as little as possible. And the models are providing it to him, in abundance.
I was in a room the other day at MFC, stunning woman, really, absolutely, and sweet and sexy. THere she was, spread eagled, going at it with a toy, on and on, giving it all up, close ups, the whole deal. She worked and worked. Over 1800 people in the room. While I was there she received under 200 tokens in tips. Room after room, easy to find, anything anybody wants, for nothing.
THis thing is dying ladies, it's free. And it's everyone's fault. But fault no longer matters, I urge you beautiful women who are struggling with this to strongly consider others means of income.
My old profession died for the same reason, the product is now given away, it's dead.
Thanks for listening.

I wouldn't say 'dying'... but morphing or changing, most certainly, and your observations of availability are spot on. That is proven by the room counts Vs actual tippers. I know many girls that have had to stop being exclusively MFC girls and have gone to 'pay to play' sites simply to make the monthly rent and food money.
Yesterday I was really turned off by the 'site darling'.... she had a room of 800+ or so and was geting no tips. She started pouting and said something to the effect of 'this is depressing.. nobody loves me'. After talking to herself a moment more she then said 'I need 4000 tokens in the next 20 minutes or I'm leaving....' and set her phone timer. I used to love this girl... sadly that exhibition yesterday showed what a spoiled brat celeb princess shes turned into and really turned me off. [not that it matters]

Surely a better move would be to talk to them privately and/or ban them quietly. Definitely a bad idea to come off as one of the models that bans guys just for being there (people coming into the room aren't going to know the history, their first impression is just an angry b!tch).

Does anyone think this anything to do with MFC adding the "Most Popular Rooms" option? It was not long before this thread was started that they added it and since guests and basics can use that option they don't even have to become a premium to find free shows in the lounge.

Too many factors to consider. Down economy, xmas spending etc etc. But I would not be surprised if there is some correlation.

Well, the MPR had been around for quite a while before we started feeling any change. So, no I don't think it's related.

I imagine there are TONS of new models signing up every day now, as MFC is getting more popular, thus spreading the "good traffic"* around more thin, thus us feeling an impact. Some girls feel the impact more than others depending on what type of shows they do, what time they come on cam, how many regulars (and how well their regulars tip) they have, etc.

Hopefully over the next weeks/months (after what we believe may be the slow season for this type of entertainment), more "good traffic"* will build up and/or catch up to the rate of new models and everyone will start to normalize a bit. Or, we just adapt to the new vibe and go with it, bb.

*Surely there is tons of actual traffic, but there is likely a pretty steady % that actually 1. go premium and 2. spend/buy more tokens frequently enough to be the ideal sort of member. That is what I'd call "good traffic." The "bad traffic" would be the hoardes of freeloaders who fap to hardcore shows in free chat repeatedly with no intention of spending a dime.

Yeah I've maintained all along I think giving guests and basics that was a TERRIBLE idea. They can access any public show they want, at least make them look through the models to find them. I see absolutely no benefit to MFC, models, or members by making that feature avail. to basics and guests.

As Amber said, hopefully things adapt. Hopefully less tipping will mean less shows, which will in turn stimulate tipping. The opposite reaction (doing more shows out of desperation) will just cause the problem to get worse.

And I think maybe that is compounding the issue right now, too. To us models, we can't just "do less shows" and take the big cut in our paycheck. We resort to doing more shows at a discounted rate, or offering more for less. :(

I was just thinking about something based on my own room over the last few weeks.
This winter has been unseasonable warm in most parts of the U.S. Similar to the summer blues I think more people are out taking advantage of the warmer weather.
The last few days have been colder nationwide and I actually noticed a huge jump in new Talkers/Tippers over these last few cold days.
I wont deny that other factors mentioned I'm sure play a large part but I'm seriously thinking this is playing a role as well.

Yeah, perhaps "less shows in public" might have been a better way to put it - of course this is also difficult when other girls ARE willing to do this or that in public etc. I'm just wondering if an increased level of competitiveness is not leading to members freeloading more than previously. That's not to say money isn't tight for members too, but in a hierarchy of disposable income the fact that free shows are so commonly available may mean that for some people porn just moved down the ladder on their priority of things to pay for.

If that's the case, the only way to reverse it is for public shows to become less common so freeloading (on the models they want to see) becomes harder.

I have many model friends on MFC that I chat with and tip when I can. I know for at least the last 6 months things have been slower for all of them. I don't think it's just a post holiday thing this time around. Yes there are more models everyday increasing the competition and the continued economic slump doesn't help.

I don't do privates often, but I do like the "minimum amount" private discussed in this thread. The perma $20 premium member has to go IMO also. So many people, and I use that term lightly, brag about never spending another dime while in the lounge. I've been visiting different cam sites since 2003 and still see some of my favorites online now at MFC. I still think it's the best site but many of my camgirl friends have quit or taken other jobs to make ends meet in the last few months. For some of them they left the cam world by choice and so it's a good thing. Plenty of others just don't make money any more.

BTW, I love all you ladies. Meeting new and interesting people from all over the world is one of the best things about MFC.
