The Internet
Alright so, I already have an awesome camera, but my microphone was lacking. I have a new mic now and will be using it today. I'm not saying what mic it is yet, but I'd like some feedback.

Then if it's awesome, I'll let every girl know which mic it is, because it has a reasonable price for a girl who does this as her main income.

New Mic

I actually couldn't tell the difference. I'm not sure if you play music in your room often or not, but perhaps a good test would be to see how well it picks up the music.

The background noise doesn't bother me so much.
It's the 'being put through a cheezy effect filter' that leaps out at me, sort-of-like you're on a good cellphone connection.

The new one is oodles better.

What input were you previously using?
Was it a cheap soundcard?

I didn't have to change my sound-card, and I'm using a pretty old one compared to the specs of the rest of my computer.

Before I was using a mic on the Logitech 9000 - now I'm using something called a Yeti. Bare in mind this thing is 3.5 pounds and 12" tall - but it's awesome. It's a consumer Mic, meaning that it isn't marketed to professions. However the specs are high enough to be a decent low-mid range mic.

Best of all - it's USB, so it should work even on laptops without many inputs.

It's 99$, and here is a link;

How does it sound with a condom over it?

Interesting.

I have noticed a wide variance in sound from models that say they're using the 9000.
I wonder if this is due to USB driver vagaries - there are I think several ways the sound can be configured, and which one is picked may depend on vagaries of the USB driver and software in use.

It's a pity that it's not usable for models that like to move their laptops around.
(well, other than in a comedic manner, to give them one more thing to drop. :) )

Sure, it's not easily mobile for live work, but you can move your laptop, mic, and 900 camera all at once, even this big thing. Then you just set it down and have your shower show, or whatever.

Also the reason the 900 sucks for many is that the software likes to turn on "Right Sound" which causes the mic to turn off and on randomly.

I assume you're referring to the 9000 :). The key to the sound working well on it, is turning OFF right sound, and NOT using the "reduce background noise" setting within the flash options on MFC's model client. That may be the difference from model to model.
