Onlyfans has announced that Leo died March 23 after a long battle with cancer at age 43.

I’m shocked.. sad for his family but also trying to figure out what this means for the future of onlyfans and MFC

Sad Michael Scott GIF

I am both incredibly sad and concerned/curious about the future.

I was always so confident he'd go to bat for us as models (because he always did, even if most didn't realize or credit him for it.)

But right now mostly just very sad.

I realize you had more interactions w him than most of us, so this isn’t to like.. disagree or invalidate how you’re feeling,

But I’m not feeling very sad. Like a little - it sucks to have someone lose their life young, he had a family etc.

But I was going through the list of philanthropic contributions he made and there doesn’t seem to be anything for sex workers. He’s donating to animal welfare, but not anything to help the workers who gave him his wealth? I think that’s telling. He was always nice enough to me and I saw him go to bat for various things (some uncredited - small things like i was outed by a staff member at a convention and it got back to him and someone overheard him giving the staff a talking to about privacy)

But I have to say.. it stings to see these big donations and nothing to our industry advocates. maybe it’s there and not being reported?

My understanding is OF and MFC are in a trust since 2024 so I assume things will continue as is for now..

I am sad that he is gone, it felt like the site was important to him and he would keep it alive even if the going got tough. My only interaction with Leo was when whiteboards were a new feature and he complimented how the one I made for KhaleesiWilde looked when I figure out that we could us use emojis. I think camming would have been very different with less of a community feel to it and even more transactional if it wasn't for him starting MFC.

Been thinking more about this all day and watching the massively wide range of reactions in my models only groups and on Twitter. Everything from “rest in piss” to people making weird angel gifs and hero worshipping him.

I think… it’s weird to know a billionaire personally who you can see is kind and nice and also like complex (seeing him maybe behaving poorly at parties etc) and also … like I know he listened pretty well to his models and made changes AND yet I also don’t like his politics and don’t think billionaires should exist. And also it’s awful
When anyone dies of cancer especially so young and w a family.

I dunno :( what a weird day.

Maybe I shouldn’t be sharing all this here but oh well.

At the end of the day Lacey, you always get to have your voice. He got to have his. Whether those things lined up is really irrelevant in the grand scheme of things because yes, billionaires should not exist but that also means that we can't make millions of dollars in our industry and be billionaires ourselves if we really believe that. We should be happy with whatever pittance comes our way and be thankful it's survival...but you can't have shoulders to stand on if there is no one taking leaps and bounds and risks. It's very complicated.

I've been watching Landman and some say it's "pro-oil" but I lived through being fired left and right shortly after 9/11 because every industry is oil-based. Every.single.one. It was a very eye-opening experience. Much like being entrenched in the sex industry and we know the underbelly. We know where the snakes lie.

I can't fault him for giving to charities that are federally registered. I actually don't know if sex worker-based orgs are recognized by the United States federal government because I never trusted them to protect me in the first place.

I don’t think I would want to be a billionaire personally. BUt yeah, it’s complicated 💯

I hope his family are ok. And I guess that’s the last thing I’ll say. JUst weird mixed bag of feels for me. :(

I don't want to be one either and yeah 100% complicated stuff. I don't think all people are all bad or all good. Certainly never expected a pioneer to be dead younger than I am old. So that's one fucked up thing to have to contend with. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and most of them stink. LOL

I will say that I find a distinct lack of advocation for continuing the profession on all sides of the table. I don't see any of the sites standing up or lobbying or throwing money into the ring to keep it the way we need it to be to make money. Tabooliciousness is the talk of the trade but they removed all of the things we can legally do that are under that umbrella. It's not hot if it's not illegal.

Feels like the end of an era as an outsider. I turned to "cam girl youtube" early in my days of learning about the industry and heard a lot of secondhand stories about him, I truly felt gut punched when I read of his death because I guess I'd formed a parasocial relationship without realizing just from what other models said about him.

Do you think there’s a reluctance to draw attention to themselves, and that’s why they are not visibly lobbying/advocating for the industry? In the current climate, I wonder if people are just trying to stay under the radar & not give the bad guys a reason to target them any further.

And it’s sad about the OF/MFC owner. I know nothing about him, but I know cancer sucks, and he’s probably leaving behind a lot of grieving people. Hope they find peace.

@Smoothie

Yeah, I do feel like it's an "if we don't move, the t-rex can't see us" phallacy. I can't see anyone seriously trying to get to Capitol Hill to lobby this. Especially when most of the people sitting there are paying for false studies that porn causes [x, y, z] to be published and used as baselines.

Do Tinder and all of the other dating sites require verification to join? Probably not. IDK, I've been married for the entire internet monetization rollercoaster and never used those.

But those sites explode when Republicam conventions take place.

I know nothing of Leo other than the odd thing I've read here.
I certainly don't like all the awful judgmental things I'm reading on Twitter, though, that basically seem like they are more of a general judgment against sex workers than anything even related, personally, to him. Yet using his death as an excuse to vent nastiness. Typical. I'm so sorry to his family & friends, for people's judgmental nastiness at such a time 🤍

Rest in Peace, Leo!
