Some cam girls like to exaggerate the actual work that goes into camming to make it sound more important or busy than it really is. Sure she will have to "learn" lighting and maybe a couple of HTML tags along the way, but it isn't rocket science and the process is a lot of fun. The idea that you would blackmail her after splitting is paranoid as shit. I wonder if the girl that posted it and the people who applauded her have ever had a real relationship in their lives with someone they loved and loved them back. It would be very difficult to have a real relationship with someone who feels like they are about to get backstabbed at any point.
First off, your ignorance really shows when you belittle the idea that camming is anything less than hard work. Sure, every girl has her own style and does things very differently, but we all wear many hats doing this job. We're playing many roles, including but not limited to: therapists, make up artists, choreographers, videographers, web designers, sex objects, and so much more. If you're a girl like me who spends a ton of time using twitter, snapchat, instagram, vine, and communicating with her regulars via email, MFC mail, texting, etc. then you will come to understand that this is a job you cannot clock out of. It's literally 24/7 and it consumes your life.
Sure, this is a fun job. There are lots of perks, but also tons of downsides, just like any type of work. Doing taxes as a camgirl is a bitch in itself. Trying to keep your content from being immortalized on the internet is even more of a fruitless effort. And MusicianGuy and his phantom girlfriend apparently have pretty seemingly successful careers already. Is it really the best idea to practically ruin your image and reputation over your desire to be a so called "exhibitionist"? If you really want to do it this solely for fun, cam on CB as a true exhibitionist who does not receive any money whatsoever. They approve your account within an hour at most, and you're ready to broadcast. Easy.
Onward to the portion that was actually directed towards me.
For me to point out that something was a perfect storm for blackmail in no way means I have been burned in relationships in the past, not that it's any of your business, or your place to even speculate such nonsense. It's just that I am aware of the consequences that arise when you divulge your personal information to someone, whether you are a camgirl or not. But when you are a camgirl, or looking to potentially start being one, honestly the best thing you can be is paranoid. Your security is vital to this job and it should be heavily guarded. For you to say this shit really just proves your naivety to the entire interworkings to being a camgirl. Many of us use VPNs, mail forwarding services, have two separate cell phones, and check some very unappealing websites on a daily basis to ensure we haven't been ousted. LOTS of camgirls have their personal information leaked on a daily basis. People enjoy doing this for whatever reason. I've seen camgirls' mugshots, wedding photos/videos, facebook accounts revealed, and so much more. I am aware of these things. I think other girls should be too, for their own safety.
she could always change her password, or apply for a new SSN, if that situation arose (which it will not).
It isn't always boyfriends doing shit like this, but perhaps MusicianGuy's girlfriend needs a wake up call to realize NO ONE SHOULD HAVE HER SSN BUT HER. Maybe her parents might happen to know it by memory or something, but that's not shit you reveal to your boyfriend. Doesn't even matter if they've been dating over a couple of years or not. Especially if her boyfriend lives in another city... How is that benefitting her? Plus I loved his quote about how it's a very slim chance they will ever break up (yeah right) and if they do... wait for it... she can just apply for a new one  Yeah dude okay. He basically said, "Yes, I have her SSN. If we break up, she can just get a new one". ALRIGHTY THEN. I fucking worry for this girl. Maybe she should be applying for a new SSN like now. But I guess I'm just a paranoid lunatic for caring about somebody's private information being kept under wraps.
But yeah, as you said, "it isn't rocket science and the process is a lot of fun".
That depends completely on your idea of fun.
Lots of girls find this work to be mentally tasking, degrading, etc. after they get a taste for it. It takes a special girl with looks, brains, social skills, and complete computer literacy to do this work. Is sitting here typing this out to you my idea of "fun"? No.
Is spending hours filming, editing, and exporting a video "fun" to me? Not really.
Lots of what I do is enjoyable on some scale, but can get repetitive and tedious and is definitely WORK. Plenty of people have jobs that are magnified versions of little things camgirls on a daily basis. Sure, I'm no professional photographer, but I have all the equipment and do it myself. I'm the model AND the photographer, which makes things even trickier. This goes for everything I do. Camming is a fucking production put on by one girl all by her lonesome. So please don't tell me that camgirls like to talk as if they're working harder than they really are, because that's some bullshit. We all work very hard to make beautiful content for our viewers, try our best to be entertaining and positive on cam, and yes, we make it LOOK easy, so dummies like you tend to believe that it really is. Time for you to wake up, dude. Don't be the douche who says "camming is easy" on a fucking camming forum. Also, don't be feeding lies to newbies. They don't need to be surprised when they realize that this will take a lot more of their energy than they may have ever intended. But sure, go with what you said. IT'S SO FUN AND EASY 100% OF THE TIME! WOOHOO!
