I really like Manyvids because you can generate the custom urls there and they're only good for one person! I've never used mediafire and I may be biased, but MV will also take down videos if they ever happen to get stolen :)

It is harder to answer this question since they aren't in the same category, one is a clip site and one is a file host!

Manyvids is a clip site, which means that people will go there to look for videos to purchase and will buy them through the site. This is awesome because it means (mostly) passive income for you! I definitely suggest that girls who sell videos and are comfortable with it use clip sites like Manyvids and Clips4Sale. You can generate links that you can give to people and they can get the video without having to buy it, so that can be nice in some situations. If your intent is to sell videos on MFC (or some other site) and then give them a download link people might be a bit upset or feel put out by the fact that they have to sign up for an account on some other website to get the video that they just bought. When I heard that Manyvids was going to let us generate links we could give out to downloads I was ecstatic because I thought it would mean I could close my Mediafire account, however the members who tested it for me didn't like having to sign up on an external site and I think that they felt a bit like it was shady. For some people this will be awesome though because they'll have a place they can just log in that will keep their videos for them.

Mediafire is a file host, which means that you can upload pictures, videos, documents, or really any files there. Many girls use file hosts like Mediafire, Dropbox, or the newer Project Maenad for their videos. With these, you give someone a link and then they just download the file. Mediafire doesn't have a password system anymore, I think you can find ways to add them with Dropbox and Project Maenad BUT you can add a password to any file locally by zipping it and password protecting it. In that case, someone could download a file but would not be able to unzip/open it.

We already have a TON of threads about which file hosts to use for videos, people ask this question a lot, but it's really already been answered a bunch of times. Here is a post with some info and tips about searching on the forum! That way you can find the other threads about this and read about other experiences and opinions!

As for videos being put up on tube sites, torrent sites, etc. it is something that MOST camgirls will have happen to them! Every camgirl should expect that to be a part of the job. It's really up to you whether you want them taken down or not. If you do, you can have your site send a DMCA (don't ever send one yourself) for you to try to get it down. I usually count it as free publicity as long as it has my name on it somewhere. I especially don't mind videos of capped shows, but will sometimes send a DMCA to get content down if it's a video I sell. It's not something I usually stress about too much or dwell on, but I know it can be very different for each model.

As far as security, I would think that Manyvids would be more secure, but I feel really weird about giving that answer since it's not quite a fair comparison since they aren't the same type of site. It's definitely a "comparing apples to oranges" kind of situation. Manyvids is run by someone else, whereas when we use file hosts, we are running things for ourselves. A Target is always going to be able to protect its products better than a person running a yard sale.

That's a very good response! I don't think I could have responded to it better :)
I could possibly add a little more information to it where you were kind of uncertain.
When it Comes to the link generation, well there is 1 simple reason why we want the user to sign up. Since we offer the service 100% free for all our MV girls, we do want the users to signup and encourage them to use the site in future, possibly purchasing vids from the model who referred them to us. It will help everyone in the long run: Our Mv girls will sell more, and the user will also get a platform with all his purchases in one place!

As for the security, we encrypt your full length vids using 256-bit AES encryption, also known as AES-256, one of the strongest block ciphers available. When it comes to our servers, we have pretty much the best in the business (Amazon). We also have a team ready to assist you with any issues you experience. When it comes to Dropbox, mediafire, etc, well unfortunately they do not accept adult content. You can get away with hosting it there, but they have been known to do cleanups and delete accounts that do host this type of material!

Correct me if I'm wrong but it doesn't actually work that way. As mentioned before the videos can only be downloaded 3 times. But also they disappear after a while. I've bought several videos from models using manyvids in the past, downloaded them all one time (immediately) and they are all gone now. I had originally expected they would remain at least until I reached the threshold of downloading them a third time. But none of them show up in my library any more. So this is not a site users can log in and expect to have their videos kept for them or in one place.

How long did it take for your videos to disappear? I bought my first one in June/2014, and it's still sitting there in my library.

Did the models completely delete them from their ManyVids profile? I feel like thats the only way they could disappear like that. I could be wrong though.

If your purchase was not within your vid library, that would mean that the mdoel deleted her content, and it is no longer made available to the members.

This is not something within our control, however I can suggest to our DEV team that this be changed during our future site updates.

If this happens again for some reason, you're welcome to contact support help@manyvids.com to express your grievance.

Thanks for answering the question :)

You are 100% accurate, if the model deletes the vid, it is no longer available to any members.

That seems a bit dodgy.Obviously thats fine for new people buying them but I have a few vids on mine undownloaded because I assumed they would stay there if I already bought them. You should really make that clearer to the users and also im off to download them now

As stated in the previous response, we are considering making the deleted vids available to users who have purchased them in our future site improvements.

Btw, if it was a recent purchase we still may be able to help you: reach out to our support team via email or live chat for further assistance.

Oh its fine, I dont have any problems myself but maybe just a warning when you buy it would be nice. This is the first and so far only thing I've not liked about your site the rest is all good.

Yeah if a model deletes her account and content she should be able to do so. NOT be told she cant and it's gonna stay there. That's not a good thing to do to people who are selling stuff onyour site at all and will upset a lot of girls and make many more never work for you. Simply telling the guys vids are available as long as a model is active should be enough. Dont force girls to have content up they dont want to.

If the girl is SELLING it then she no longer owns that copy. So it should be available to the customer who bought it. Works the same for books, music, and videos you buy off amazon or any other site. It's available for you to download and use even if the original owner removes it for sale.

No one is suggesting it still be available for general sale to the public if the the lady wants to remove it. Just those who bought it should still have access to download it. Ya know, since they bought it and all and that copy now belongs to them.

Same principal applies to all the copies people have bought and then downloaded. Do you think everyone who ever bought it should be forced to deleted it from their hard drive just because she no longer wants it out there for sale? That makes no sense. If a model is that concerned about it don't sell any in the first place.

Youre going out on a pretty big limb there. I never mentioned deleting stuff from peoples hard drive. I stand by what I said. If a guy buys and downloads he has his copy. The deal is done. Guys should just be told they should download it and as long as the girls account is active they can redownoad it. Theres no reason MV should have to keep stock of everything even after a girl deletes her account. That's a lot of space that could add up over time which means $$$ possibly. MV isnt amazon so there's really no comparison. They arent a forever storage of porn place. Maybe if MV chooses too they can offer the girls to change a second price on vids for forever downloads or something but really the choice should be the models always.

Whats the difference between the member buying it and having it on his profile to download later and having it downloaded already? Surely it's like the equivalant of using manyvids like dropbox or something to download it when youre ready maybe someone is short of hardrive space or whatever?

Obviously if the model decides she no longer wants it on sale for whatever reason then no new customers should be able to buy it or even see it or if she changes the price then any new customers would have to pay the new price but for people who have already bought and paid for it I dont see why it has to vanish for them too. Since MV gives you 3 downloads of each vid it should stay until you use those up.

As long as MV says this explicitly and clearly, then it shouldn't be a problem, but that's not currently the case as it seems.

Storage is actually pretty cheap - the average size from files I got from camgirls is roughly 1GB; a 6TB drive is around 250USD these days. So even if you replicate it 3x (for safety) , you can store about 6000 files for about 700USD. Also, that is based on prices of hard disks on amazon, but anyone buying storage in bulk gets much better prices.. Plus, I should mention that while MV isn't amazon, they do use Amazon's cloud services for storage and hence get the cheaper prices that amazon offers.

Maybe if MV chooses too they can offer the girls to change a second price on vids for forever downloads or something but really the choice should be the models always.

The thing is .. This is a tradeoff between client's and model's desires; I bet you will have a hard time finding a member that agrees with you, while I'm sure the majority of models will agree with you. As a member, I see this similarly to how Jerry mentioned - the part that concerns you as a model is done once you sold the content, even if you left the site - at that point, the site still has to maintain the commitment it made to the buyer, that is, that it will be available to them up to the maximum number of times they can download (or forever if they are a premium user that paid for that feature).

In any case, one thing is clear - whatever the solution is implemented by MV, it needs to be made clear to members and models alike.

I agree -- if a member transferred the video to a third-party site and paid *that* site for "forever downloads", the model would have no say on how long those downloads should be available and would not be getting a cut of the revenue. If MV decided to offer such a service themselves, it would make sense to have similar terms.

When I sell content I expect that the member is going to know the drill. My links all expire in 7 days, and they are password protected. If the content is important to them they would download it right as they got it and put the file somewhere safe on their computer or computer storage.

It's like if you buy a hat and you lose the hat or you leave the hat at the store assuming it will always be there for you. Guess what? Now you need to buy a new hat. Shouldn't have treated the hat so carelessly. The store isn't responsible for your hat that you bought. Now if my links were broken or if I gave a wrong password, that's on me and I'm happy to fix the issue. I'm even happy to explain how to DL my content if the user seems lost.

And if a model deletes her account it means she no longer wants those videos up. So even if you bought them, it was your choice not the download them and keep them safe. She has no obligation to provide support on a job she no longer does.

Seems like there is a difference of opinion between models and prems on this issue, as you'd probably expect. Not sure where I sit on this...can see both sides of the argument.

As it stands now on MV if a model deletes her profile or even that particular vid it is not available to the member/user to download.

The 3 dl limit is given, and most models do not delete their content that was recently sold in order to assure the members receive what they purchased.

This really has not been an issue support-wise so far. Most members download their content right away, and the very few instances that they inquired about a vid purchase that is no longer available they are told the model deleted the vid, and so it ends there.

Once again, we don't have intentions of changing this option at the given moment, and IF this becomes something we change in the future all of your input will be taken into consideration :)

If you are still doing FORCED signups on unique URLs that I hope models don't use you, ever.
Read this link to begin to understand why it's bad for business.

Thanks for your input on the matter. We allow purchase to be made as One Time Downloads, which does not require a sign up.

The mandatory sign up is in exchange for the MVlink FREE feature we offer to our models. All we ask in return is to have the individual receiving the link sign up.

This is the way it has been set up , and although I will forward your article to our management team, I do not think this is something we will be changing at this time.
