Question... What resolution does MFC Share support? Is it published anywhere?

I just uploaded a video for a model. The original was 1920x1080 - Normal "1080p HD". On downloading it the file has been reduced to "1280x720" or "720p". I also suspect they increased the compression a bit.
I've always seen the "Converting" message after uploading videos but I admit I did not realize they were reducing the size of the video.

I heard that the official MFC videos can go up to 4k but are model videos limited to 720p?

Thanks for any information.

I checked and the resolution stayed the same 1920x1080 but there was some heavy compression going on. The bit rate for the video went from 16934 kbit/s down to 3984 kbit/s and the sound went from 48.000kHz to 44.100kHz. The original file size was 1 712 024 256 byte and the downloaded file was 403 325 325 byte.

The video will download at whichever resolution the video is set at. If you have 4k selected, it will download at that resolution. The default is 1080p, so you'd have to manually switch it before hitting download.

MFC Share does transcode larger files, which I'm assuming makes them more manageable for the downloaders and to be more easily streamed on the page.

Thank you DJ_Pioneer and AmberCutie. I just tried it again and see the option for 1080 where I did not before. I either missed it or maybe there's a small delay for the other resolutions to show.

This is why we ask questions. :)

Thanks again!

There is definitely a delay after the video is uploaded. It took probably 15 mins for my recent uploads to be available in all resolutions.

Can anyone tell me what the best way to use MFC share to deliver an exclusive custom video would be?

I thought i could just make the video unlisted and send him a voucher but that's not allowing me to generate vouchers for unlisted vids. I don't want to list the vid... I just want to use it to deliver the video to him. I can go back to using dropbox for this but was hoping I could use MFCshare

Edited to add: I ended up leaving it unlisted - putting a password on it and simply sharing the URL. Is this the best way?

If you put a token price on it and left it unlisted you could still generate a voucher. Vouchers require a token price I believe.

here is a list of suggestions i've made to MFC regarding MFCshare.

They probably hate me by now but they have been responsive. If you agree on any of these points please send support an email and let them know your feedback. Feel free to copy/paste or add your own..

  1. The club feature is great however it would be great if we could re-arrange albums that are in the club that way I can place newer content first.
  2. The ability to filter 'unlisted' albums in the album area. I used the bulk uploader to upload all my content and because there is a very large amount it would be great if I could see at a glance what is listed and what is unlisted.
  3. The MFC mail button on vouchers is FANTASTIC but it would be great if we could set our own message
  4. Mass Management: Earlier I uploaded all my preview vids (over 200) using the bulk uploader. I then decided that I wanted to put them in groups in albums to keep them a bit more organized. I cannot combine albums, or move a video from album to album. My only option was to go through and delete all 200 videos and reupload them into the correct albums. The process of mass deleting videos was REALLY time consuming because I could not mass delete. So the suggestion would be to have a way to move videos from ablum to album, and also a way to mass delete content.
  5. Some kind of notification before a member purchases an album containing a video that tells the member what is the highest quality that video is available in.
  6. The ability for members to download all photos in an album at once (or perhaps the ability for us to add zip folders)
  7. Some kind of notification before a member purchases an album which states whether videos in that album are streaming only or downloadable
  8. Some kind of record for models within MFCshare that shows which members have access to what. (ie. when we click on an album we can see a list of members that have access)
  9. When a member purchases an item they may not know what to do next. An "MFC Mail" button might be a good idea.
  10. A member has complained that when he buys access to a club he wants the ability to be anonymous to be the default, not something he has to go back and change
  11. A way for members to tip anonymously on MFCshare
  12. When you click an album that is included in a club, but also has other options like Password, VIP or is a tip album there's NOTHING that explains to members what clubs that item is in. It would be good if the little thing that pops up explaining "club only" access was also visible on any album that is included in a club in the same way it shows the password or Tip options.
  13. The ability to set paid videos to display in the banner
  14. The ability to set a description for an entire photo or video album (as it is, its' the one on the first item that shows to all members)
  15. Discount codes or the ability to mass discount things
  16. A way for members to sort things by price low to high
  17. Something that shows members similar models they may like (rather than just the most popular/most viewed etc)
  18. More email notification options for members so that they can opt in to being notified when we add items to clubs they've purchased
  19. When we add items to clubs at a certain price this is also the price for non club members. What would be amazing is if we could set a special price for club members and a regular price if you're not in the club.
  20. A custom video system similar to iwantclips or manyvids .. i realize this is a long shot but I'd love it.
  21. If a video is streaming access only instead of the download icon being missing could it display something that say 'streaming only" or similar so that the member understands clearly that this is not downloadable. People seem confused about this a lot.
  22. Once an album, collection or club is purchased when it appears in 'tipped' or 'clubs' it still displays the price. I've heard feedback from members that this made them think they did not have access to it. In clubs albums say 'free' if they have access to them. Could this also be added to albums in the "tipped" and "clubs" tab?
  23. The ability to rearrange our home on mfcshare so that instead of albums at the top we can put items, clubs or collections at the top.
  24. Currently the embed codes let you mess with the height if you know what numbers to change, but it would be great if there was a way to select the height of the MFCshare page we are embedding. The reason for this is if you embed say your "items" tab on your MFC profile and you only have 2 items you are left with a huge amount of empty space. If you're not confident enough to edit the code yourself, it looks really ugly.
  25. The mass uploader seems like a great idea till you realize that any content you post, when you get around to unlisting it will not be shown in "new albums" at the time you marked it unlisted, but at the time you uploaded it. If you were to upload 100 videos and then slowly add them over a month or so you'd miss out on the perks of being listed under the new albums tab. Instead, the first time an album is marked unlisted after it's uploaded it could be featured in new?
  26. the search function seems to currently search album titles and model names. If it could keyword search clubs, items and album descriptions this would help members find what they're looking for.

Lots of great suggestions, I hope they take the time to go through them and add as many as possible!

Can you ellaborate on this? I can't quite tell what you're talking about.
I cannot combine albums
I agree I'd like to be able to move an item from one album to another, fo sho! But for now, collections are helpful to group stuff together (I know doesn't combat the "omg I have too many albums!" issue haha.)

There is an option for this already, it's in the "album settings" after you've uploaded it. Easy to miss, but handy!

Something I'd like to add is a list of people who have expired off of a club list. For example, if I wanted to use it for Snapchat and a 30 day duration, when someone's duration is up, they disappear from the list completely, which is unhelpful for removing them from snap.

Items are things like snapchat, panties, skypes..etc. Things that MFCshare does not deliver, the model has to. If the model doesn't provide clear instructions to the member .. they won't know how to get that thing. I can see situations like "I bought a 30 minute skype show and nothing happened". Ideally the model will contact the member via MFC mail.. but .. you know. This wasn't such a big deal but since everything else on MFCshare is instant something that explains items are not may be needed.

I haven't had any clubs with expires yet so havent experienced t hat. That would be SUPER useful! I will wait a day before I email them that one because i think there's a nerd behind a computer pulling his hair out when I email him at this point...

Haha yeah it's a lot but I am sure they appreciate the time and effort you put into make it so organized!

And yeah I tested the club thing on my premium, CutieNoodle just disappeared out of Amber's list when the day duration ended, doh!

Do models get a notification when an item runs out? It seems that items default to having only one available, which often results in items like snapchat or raffle tickets being listed as sold out when you're the first member to buy it.

Ooh good question, and I think the answer is no. Which is bad!

Do members get notification when club acess expires? if they don't I want to add that to my suggestion list.. :p
Nope, just checked CutieNoodle's mail, there was nothin'.

i wish mfc share would keep the file name models named it rather than randomly renaming it. "mega squirt vid" etc is alot sexier and easier to remember then es5h7sji9
Yes that's a big problem really... a photoset might have pics in order... The original file name might include the models name... having the random filenames kind of suck...

Yes, it does re-encode videos, but depending on your original file it is not always a compression. If you upload a video that is already highly compressed you can end up with a bigger file!

aparrently it also compresses files ?? A 4GB video that was over an hour long is only 2GB when people download it. It doesn't *seem* to have lost any quality but... just a heads up?
I appreciate that they do this so I no longer have to worry about making my file sizes manageable for easy downloads.

It loses some quality but it isn't very noticeable if you don't know what to look and listen for and I don't think the average guy looking for porn is going to object about the quality of the videos.

I haven’t fully tested this yet but I suggest before uploading running the video through handbrake first. MFC Share will still try and convert it but I think it will have less to work with and as such few changes to quality.

Just my theory

I sent them this tweet today, we'll see if they like the ideas :)

This isn't exactly on topic but I have a hard time undrestanding video compression. When i already compress when I render a project using Premiere .. it seems like a lot of extra work to my flow to need to run it through handbrake also. Are the compression methods between handrbake and video editors like premiere different?

I wouldn't bother running it through handbrake, it wouldn't be worth the extra time it would take to make a video compared to the time that would be saved uploading it. Anyway here is a quick video on how video compression works.

I feel like this question has probably been answered or it's way too simple to even ask, but how the heck do I change my banner picture on MFC share? I don't really use any of the photo albums in my MFC account page so I'm thinking maybe it comes from here? How do I do get the silly palm tree to go away? Thanks all!

The header on MFC share is a video header, so what you do is upload which has to be free and then there will be an option to make it a profile header when you press the cog on the video.
