Why to go Luv, Funny I have a lot of gay guys that hit up my room. What is that saying about me??

Probably that you have great eye shadow.

So, as an update to any interested, I've made about $120 over a little less than two days, probably been on cam about 11 or 12 hours. Not exactly anything I can retire on, but I'm encouraged seeing as I'm starting from scratch and my following should only grow.

For those asking, I'm currently only using Streamate. I did make a Chaturbate account but I haven't quite got the hang of it, I may play around with it a bit more this evening. Either way, my room links will now appear in my signature.

I'm only asking because A LOT of straight women frequent the rooms of solo cam dudes on Chaturbate.
They also usually cam there themselves and are great tippers.

I like the way you write. You seem like a cool, reasonable fella and I wish you the best of luck. You also have a damn nice upper body and I encourage everyone to look at that photo on your Streamate profile.
I can't contribute anything else to this thread, sorry :D

Somebody needs to give me their schedules then, because I certainly have yet to see them.

There's a dude I came across called 'LanceHardin' who would be good for you to watch. Not sure of his schedule, but he's really popular on chaturbate. He plays on the whole straight guy fetish a lot of dudes have, putting up photos of him in his football/baseball gear and other cute things. He also smiles a lot and talks to his viewers about what's going on in his life and stuff he wants to do, which has helped him build an awesome base of regulars, male and female. =)

His Psycho tattoo is so cool, and he has a body I wish I was hard working enough to earn.

Good luck with your cam modeling, and your other modeling as well Norrin Yates.

So glad I took your advice Lily! :p :thumbleft:

Doing the straight man fetish for gay guys is actually a good idea, it also might help attract straight girls. Some straight girls loves the whole gay thing and have crushes on dudes who are gay, but I think, and emphasis on the word think, though many girls have gay friends they enjoy hanging out with they don't find them attractive. Personally though I don't mind a guy who's comfortable with his sexuality, I get instantly turned off by gay men, something in my mind clearly just goes "friend zone" and moves on. This may just be me as most of my female friends have gone through points of having crushes on my gay friends.
I know that if I were watching a guy on cam and he were doing very obviously gay things, including any kind of bum/dildo stuff, it'd put me off. If he were happily chatting to gay men and being really friendly and nice then I'd be more interested.

I think the way to draw women in is through a mixture of good looks and good conversation, we're less visual than men so more can be left to the imagination.
Something I've noticed over the years about gay men, is they are pretty much exactly the same when it comes to sex as straight men, yet they don't have women holding them back. So a gay magazine will be identical to a straight magazine except for you'll be having a hot guy doing identical poses to what a woman would be doing on a straight magazine. Something you would never find in a woman's magazine as women don't tend to like men to be too posing, for me personally if a man did any of the same things I do when I'm being sexy I'd find it either hysterical or really off putting.

Doing the whole straight fetish for gay men thing might also attract women. Women will never be a large amount of your viewers full stop, even though if women knew about you they might watch, most women have no idea anything like this exists.

A way that you could possibly be really sneaky and market yourself would be to do things like follow things on twitter that lots of women follow and take interest in it and actually tweet them, maybe find ways to advertise yourself in places where women will be. Various forums are a good place to start looking, though you'd have to put in the leg work and some interesting posts and not post any of it anywhere too inappropriate, most women get scared off this stuff straight off the bat. You could even do youtube stuff designed for women and even men, like a really silly topless cooking channel and have links to your twitter/profile.

Another thing, as a woman I instantly avoid dudes who post dick pics on their twitters. If you have lots of gay cliental and aren't aiming for women it may be different, but for me seeing a dick when I'm not expecting one gives me a good start! Not that I don't love cock, but I like to have some sort of build up ya know? Is this just me out of girls? I know that some girls love looking at dicks whoever they belong to, but seems to have mixed reactions.

I didn't even take a close look at his tattoos, I was a bit mesmerized by his abs and pecs. I'll leave now.

Pfft, yeah... I'm already envious of his chiselled facial features and cool exterior, I'm not gonna go make myself even more jealous by checking out his Herculean abs and rock hard pecs thank you very much, Lily :snooty:

(And hello Norrin. Welcome to the forum and stuff :))

Miay I add that some people might be put off, to say the least, by the use of the word trannies on your Streamate profile.

Sadly, that is what streamate uses to refer to trans* individuals.
They also use "shemale".

Which is offensive to say the least.

I get that you're trying to make a joke but transphobia really isn't funny.

As for trying another site it's good to put your toe in the water of a few yes, but if SM is working for you so far then jump on in and focus there because dedicated camming pays off really well. You can build a fan base there.

I would suggest that months later you try Chatturbate again and give it a full shift to see how you like it but the main reason models should give more than one site a good go is experience. Wither or not you change to Chatturbate you will know what another site is like. As camsites change rapidly this experience will help you prepare for that and be ahead of the crowd.

Other tips for SM:
Logitech 920 <- wide screen, fuck yes
the encoder/wired connection (already mentioned)
High speed internet
Regular hours
For lighting if you don't have professional lights those 3 headed standing lamps work well
Light bulbs; some girls like daylight bulbs others like more warm bulbs.I'm guessing you know plenty about lighting though since you've modeled before
Be social and up-beat; a lot of male cam models don't have any personality. It's very easy to find a guy on Chatroulette with his dick out; why should people pay you for that? Because you have an awesome personality and you can do more than just wank. That and I'm sure you have your own answers to this. Apply those :)
Vine - this new app is great for bringing in new fans and twitter followers. It doesn't always have to be dirty. Throw in some personality and some general life stuff about you people would find cute
^ Granted, it's up to you how much cock and how much personality you want to do, you'll find a balance that works for you, but still it's a lot more likely you have a unique character than a unique dick. You'll want repeat customers after all :) They're the best in income and often are more enjoyable in general.

I've coded many things that help Streamate models out so if months later you're still camming send me a personal message on this forum and I'll tell you about them ;)

Lastly there is a link in my signature that'll help you get more for your referrals. This WM Tree is awesome because you get 30% all the time instead of 20% almost all the time and 40% super rarely. You'll want to use this because your passive income will go up faster _and_ when you retire from Streamate/camming in general you'll continue to have that income, where as for your username.cammodels, com link you'll stop being paid for it after X amount of time of not camming!

While shemale is definitely a no-no, the TS community at large is not offended by the word tranny.

Trust me, my experience in said community is quite extensive and if anyone on this Earth stood to benefit from not offending them, it's me. (Oh hello, can of worms!)

Aye, as a genderqueer though, I know I would be most offended if I were to be called "shemale" or "tranny".

Certainly there are exceptions to every rule, and everything is capable of offending someone, but most of my (again, rather extensive) experience in the TS community would have me believe that the majority are okay with the term tranny, assuming of course it's not being used in an offensive context.

My good friend, Alexxa Gray (shown standing next to me in this rather unflattering photo: http://imgur.com/im2rpA5 ) even uses the term in reference to herself at clubs in an (usually failed) attempt to get certain guys to stop hitting on her.

And also, thank you Rose. I've been making my rounds on perving rooms of the ladies that talk to me on here, I'll get you, my pretty.

Wow well she's like really hot, is she actually a tranny? That's really good work if she is! Nice make up too.

I've never really thought of the word tranny as really offensive, I haven't known loads of trans people, but I have known a few, those I've met have always struck me as really lovely people with amazing shoes, labelling them never came up. Actually technically a good female friend from school was a "tranny", as she didn't have a phone I lost touch with her but last time I spoke to her was years ago now and she said something about getting a penis... Before then people always thought she was a guy, at first I don't think it was intentional though. She was a star actually, I moved to a different school and got a ton of homophobic abuse because I'd been with girls, she referred to herself as being straight as an orange... It took me about 3 minutes of blank staring to work it out.

Right, no more ranting for me, need to stop logging onto acf soon as I wake up... :p

Do solo men ever end up on the front page on SM or does SM have a different home page specifically for guys? I'm so curious how camming works for guys. I've always half considered maliciously suggesting it to some of my members that suggest that all I do is giggle and shake my tits on cam.

What would you say are the most challenging things for you on cam and are they different or the same for camgirls?

She is indeed a transsexual. You can Google her name if you'd like, she has a website. I agree, she's gorgeous.

That picture is from a sexiest Halloween costume contest at one of the clubs here in Vegas. She tied for 1st place, going all against (presumably) cisgender women. I can't remember the last time I was so proud of someone.

To the first part of your question, I have absolutely no idea. As for the most challenging thing, so far it seems to be just initializing a casual conversation. I feel from my observations that the guys that tend to come into male model rooms tend to be a bit more.....lurkish? Creepy? I don't know the exact word I'm looking for, but it seems to me they are much less concerned with the companionship and interacting part of it that you ladies stress so much, and much more focused on getting me to put some dress socks on and rub one out. That could also be a failure on my part though, it's too early for me to really say.

Welcome to the camming world, Norrin. It's an amazing place to be.

AdultWork seems to be a good site for guys, although it's not easy to navigate and as it's also a site for escorts you will be asked time and time again if you'll meet up.

Good luck x

Lol no, it's not just you, the majority of dudes are more interested in that kind of stuff when watching female models too. Most of my income comes from guys who are interested in me as an interacting person though, sure they love the nakedness and the sexiness, but they like the interaction. The majority of viewers just want to rub one out though and enjoy the thrill of it being live. Most of these dudes have no intention of ever paying. Being sexy is very important, but I do think what starts to set you apart is when you get regulars who are interested in more than sex, because those are the people who usually will pay more. It's a balance between entertaining the masses and enticing those who want a more personal feel. I don't know much about male modelling, but I'd imagine that it's probably not that different except for less traffic. Roughly only about 2-5% of people in my room will tip me during one night, I'd be curious to know what the percentage is for male models. Do you know how many people are in your room at a time on streamate?

Welcome to ACF Norrin! I'm still new to the whole camming game too and I can wholeheartedly say I would never have known what to expect if it weren't for this forum. There are some fab people here.

Best of luck to you!
