I have been thinking of becoming a webcam model for about 3 months now.
Before I made a decision, I decided I would make sure to do my research on each site I could find.
I looked at the sites that are more popular like
livejasmin
flirt4free
streamate
I also looked at other sites like:
i-camz.com
xpeeps
chaturbate
cam4

I broadcasted fora little bit on chaturbate, I just wanted to see what it was like, it had a different structure than places like streamate, I noticed.
I was wondering if chaturbate actually pays, and if its reliable, or safe?
I am totally new to webcam modelling, and still kind of wondering where to start. So far I've only tried chaturbate....so if people who use chaturbate could add comments on their experiences there, regarding how they handle personal info, or customer service...that would be good.

I want a site that gives me the option to use direct deposit?, snail mail is not convenient for me at all.
a site that offers lots of control over blocking states/countries and just options that help you regulate who sees you, and your room etc etc...

Does anybody have any suggestions on good sites to start on?

Chaturbate does payout and is generally well thought of. There's the potential of getting hundreds of people in your room during a show though the ratio of members with tokens to those without is low. There's a lot of free-loaders, but you can do fairly well there.

Streamate is geared more towards the private side of things so if you make that your site of choice, be prepared to do show after show, some just a minute or two long, some a lot longer, and every time you come out of private, you need to get dressed again because you can't be nude in free chat. There are GOLD shows which are unlocked after you've been used the site for a while (no set time, manually enabled by staff) which make things a little easier and is a bit more of a standard setup.

MyFreeCams is perhaps a little more laidback in the way your average room is handled. Most often, rooms will build up a small group of regulars and before you know it, it's more about the chat in the room than the shows. At the same time though, it can be hard for a new model to become established on MFC, and the site in general seems to be suffering a bit of a lull at the moment, or so it would seem from what I've heard from a few models.

xPeeps is fairly new, or at least in its current form, and boasts an impressive 70% payout. There is never many models online at any one time which means less competition, but also means a lot less members online than any other site, and just like every other site, only a small proportion of those have tokens. But find the right members on there and get them to keep coming back and you can make a lot of money very quickly.

Those are the 4 sites I know best. Hope that helps.

Thanks skiphop :)

Im glad to hear Chaturbate pays out, I think its very laid back, which is ok with me I suppose, to start with.

Im a broke college student :P and I need money for books and stuff, but I actually enjoyed modelling and being naughty...:P
I just struggle with knowing where its safe to start, does anybody ever have any issues like, you know, once I dont really need to cam model a lot like once i graduate college and get a job, could cam modelling mess up my chances of getting a *regular job?*
blahhh I wish there werent so many hang ups with adult sites and working a regular job.

I cant help that i like modelling and that Im in college and broke...horny...and no *normal* jobs have called me back lol : \

Does anybody have any experience with the website I-camz or ImLIve.com?
I've also seen lots of people use myfreecams here, how is that site, like is it mainly private shows like streamate?
I feel kind of intimidated by what I would do in a private show. but Ive been reading around the forum so Im a little more comforitable, I see its more the model's choice.

Some people do very well on MFC and I'm not trying to discourage you, but it's.. Difficult. There's a lot of competition and I've found that I'm just not very well cut out for it.
It's got a lot of trolls and freeloaders (as any site), however, there are a lot of nice people.

The thing I hate the most is that stupid Camscore system.
You have to make x amount of tokens per hour to maintain a 1000 camscore, which everyone starts off with.
Mine is now 561.4 and it is a BITCH to get it to rise.

That being said, there are girls on there that make a LOT. But it doesn't happen right off the bat, you need to work and be patient and keep trying.

Edit: it CAN be mostly privates, I guess. But the majority is public shows. And there will be freeloaders and beggars and trolls.
Whatever you do, DON'T ACCEPT PAYPAL.
And there will be guys who PM you, "do u skype bb? ill give u 2000 tk after the show ifyou do <3"
DO
NOT
DO
IT

They won't give ya shit.

I-Camz recruits models/agents for ICamzLive. ICamzLive is a white label of Streamate.
Sorry if this is a silly question but..what is that, "white label"?

I can't think of the right word for it now, but basically it's a sister site of Streamate. If you pull up Streamate and ICamzLive in two separate tabs, you'll see that the exact same models are listed on both. Streamate has a lot of these types of sites to bring in more viewers.

All I know about ImLive is what I've read in the Models Only section and maybe The_Brown_Fox can weigh in here, but she mentioned not that long ago that ImLive is notorious for chargebacks. (In case you don't know, chargebacks are what happens when a member claims his credit card was used fraudulently and the model ends up not being paid.)

Myfreecams is a great site that you can do really well on if you put in the time and effort. Since you found this forum before signing up, I'd say that's a huge advantage. A lot of girls don't even know about camscores before they start so they end up tanking theirs to below 1000 and it's really hard to bring back up (but not at all impossible!)

The best advice is to read up on everything you can here, sign up on a site and get verified so that you can have access to the models only section and get even more information. There are threads that cover a lot of sites in incredible detail in there as well as all sorts of other things! Good luck!! :hello2:

Yes. There's always the chance of people you know, our your future boss, or anyone, seeing screencaps of you on the internet, or seeing you live on cam. The phrase 'once something is on the Internet, it stays there forever' makes me shudder, but unfortunately it's true!
Always keep that in mind. Of course there are certain precautions you can take, like blocking your state or not getting naked in public chat (which would not be such a good idea if you want to make a lot of money).

Not really. On MFC, members pay either 60 or 80 tokens per minute in a private show, which for some of them equals $6 to $8. Per minute. That's obviously really expensive, so models should make sure they know what the member would like to see in the private. It's always smart to ask them before the private starts, in case they want you to do things you're not ready for / not comfortable with.

There will be members who will tell you to just do whatever you like in a private, those are awesome! But if someone has certain ideas of what he would like to see, you should definitely make sure you can do that. If you can't, be honest up front.
In a group show however you can do whatever the hell you want! :)

Other than that, you should know that MFC is very different from Streamate in terms of the relation of personality vs. sexuality.
Streamate is very private-based as far as I can tell, and your personality cannot shine through as well. MFC is VERY social. Many models spend a considerable amount of their shift on MFC talking about random things with the members in their room. Some get big tips just for having a personality that appeals to certain members.
But because it's so social, There is also more drama on MFC; misunderstandings, jealousy or bitterness can sometimes occur, very sensitive members will always exist. :?
You will have to decide on your own what would be the best site for you. :)
