Hey Amber! This is not actually a question but rather a well wish. Good luck tomorrow with the scan. I hope all goes well and you get good news but also answers to how to make things better. I just had an endoscopy done today so I can sympathize a little, although my procedure was not nearly as serious as yours. So even though we have never spoke I wanted to wish you well!

PS- I follow you on twitter which is how I knew. My name there is mysexualmind

Thank you for the message! Send me an @reply so I know to follow you back on twitter, too. I'm nervous about tomorrow... both because I have to lay still for like an hour with weird crap in my veins but also cuz I am anxious to hear that they found what's ailing me.

Anywho... it means a lot that you came here to send well wishes. Much appreciated!!

Wow! A personal reply…I did not expect that. Thanks! You truly are as beautiful inside as you are on the outside aren’t you!
It was quite a journey finding a place to send you a message you would actually see in time, but well worth it even if it simply gives you a tiny amount of support.
Speaking of support, I hope you have someone strong there with you tomorrow! Not moving will be difficult I am sure! At least when I had an MRI I was in a tube where you couldn’t move an with my endoscopy today they knocked me out. I hope they at least give you something to relax. I hear breathing/meditating and thinking good thoughts helps during that procedure…maybe you can picture everyone in their underwear? Hey it worked on the Brady Bunch! ;-)
Seriously Amber, I know I am a perfect stranger that lives all the way across the country but still I send you my greatest wishes and my thoughts will be with you tomorrow! I look forward to hearing the good news!

I sent you an @reply or at least I think I did it right. LOL

To throw my 2 cents in on this, I hope everything goes well with the coming tests and procedures. I don't like you being in pain :(

Just think of it as a really long and boring private with some perv who doesn't talk. We'll be hanging in your room in spirit until you're done.

Teehee, yes it would help me not fall off the top 20. :)

Ok so a few hours left to go. No food, and lots of nerves until then.

Amber it sucks you’re not feeling any better! I honestly hope the endoscopy works and they find the issue!
I had one just a week or so ago. I know every person is different, so I would never down play what you are feeling, but I hope my experience might help you feel a little more at ease. Nothing about my experience was bad…nothing at all.
As you know already they will put you out completely. You will not remember the procedure at all.
So here is my experience…I checked in and soon the nurse took me back. I’m sure all rooms are different when you get to the pre-surgery part, but mine was a hospital bed with wheels and it was separated from everyone else by curtains; it was private enough. I had to disrobe and put on one of those funky gowns and then the nurse came in and went over what was going to happen as she prepped me. I know you hate needles so I wish I could tell you they are not going to stick you, but they are. They need to put an IV in so they will stick a small needle into the back of your hand, and tape it down…the IV comes later when you et to the OR. Honestly it doesn’t hurt as much as a needle in the arm does…at least for me it didn’t. That is the only needle you will see however. Once they have you ready the doctor may or may not come to see you and…mine didn’t, but the nurses answered all my questions. I believe at this point they can give you something to calm you if you’re really nervous. After a bit of TV watching alone the OR nurses came and got me and wheeled me back to the operating room. I don’t know if you’ve had other procedures or surgeries or not but all OR’s are very cold. So you will get a bit of a chill but the good news is since this is an endoscopy you can have blankets on your lower half.
Once in the room they hooked my IV up to the drip and put an oxygen tube around my head. It’s nothing intrusive just a clear tube with little protruding holes on it that will fit in your nose to give you pure oxygen…you won’t feel a thing. Then they put this plastic cylinder like thing between your teeth and strap it around your head. It’s not big, but certainly big enough, and it does not go deep into your mouth, nor does it stick out much. It really just fits between your teeth so you can’t bite down on the endoscope and also helps guide it. Then they ask you to lay on your side…
The next thing I know…I woke up in the recovery room. All done!!! All the needles were gone, all the straps and tubes were gone, and my friend was sitting next to me talking to the nurse. After a bit I was awake and ‘with it’ enough to walk out of the place, and went straight to eat. My throat was a bit sore but other than that I had no pain. I was tired and a bit out of it for the rest of the afternoon but by night time all was normal.
Again I don’t mean to downplay how you feel of course but I just wanted to share my experience. Of course I was nervous beforehand too…I mean who wouldn’t be! And this was not my first surgery. I had two pretty serious surgeries before this (back and nose) and still I was feeling anxious…so it’s normal.
Anyway I hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to ask. I would be happy to answer anything!!! If you don’t want to do it here I can give you my personal email.
Good Luck and my thoughts are with you!

The doc told me I'm not going under general anesthesia. So I just hope whatever they give me loops me up enough to not care, or makes me fall asleep. I've heard that your throat hurts after, and for a couple days. I've actually had a scope procedure before, but it was for my bladder (so it didn't go through my mouth, hehe) and I was completely knocked out with general anesthesia for that.

What did they find on your test? We are doing this to rule out a stomach infection or something stomach related, and if this comes back clear of all that, then I'm seeing a surgeon about gallbladder removal.

I didn't know anything was goin on, hope you do well, heal quickly and find out what ails ya! Best wishes and all that jazz. Take care and keep us UTD as much as possible.

Wow! I hope they give you enough to sleep too! I’ve never heard of them doing it while someone was awake. I certainly hope you are not the first!
I can tell you mine was only light anesthesia… Diprivan I think… but still enough to knock me out.
The funny part of it was after the surgery, the doctor cam and talked to me and I responded like I was awake. Honestly I don’t remember it at all. Not a freakin thing.
My issue going in was different than yours. I have stomach acid issues but not gall bladder. They did take pictures of my esophagus, stomach and upper intestine however. They are very lovely pictures, I’m thinking of having them framed LOL
The results were not too bad but not perfect; Hiatal Hernia, Gastritis, some damage to the esophagus but nothing that will not heal in time, and something called Shantzki’s Ring, which is a narrowing of the esophagus I guess.
Mine will be controlled with a life long regiment of acid control meds (Prilosec) and I have to watch what I eat. Unfortunately most of my favorite things are not good for me. Overall it is not bad news however; could have been cancer or a blockage in my esophagus and it wasn’t, so it’s all good for me. Thanks for asking.
My mo just had her gallbladder removed…she is 75 yrs old…and she is so happy she did it! I love the woman, she is a saint, but she is not the toughest person in the world and she had no problems with that either. They’ve been doing it so long it’s routine now.
