I posted this in the models only section, but heres a different version posed for your perspective!

If youve participated in a models raffle before, why did you do it? If you havent, why havent you? What prizes do you look for or want? Do you prefer digital prizes like content, custom videos, skype? Or physical prizes that will be mailed to you? Physical prizes - do you like things that arent personal to the model? Like alcohol, electronics, etc? Or things that are more sentimental and personal? What prizes do you think are silly or not worth it? What price range do you see as acceptable for a raffle ticket? How many tickets do you tend to buy if you do? And does the amount of other tickets in the raffle positively or negatively affect how many you would buy?

I can understand buying a few tickets to have a chance to win something of higher value. Like buying a $5 lottery ticket for the chance to win $5 million or whatever. But I dont understand why some guys spend tons of money on raffles for high ticket items like a computer or ipod filled with a girls content. Some guys buy so many raffle tickets they could just buy the computer or ipod for themselves, and as for the content, unless theres a ton of exclusive stuff - I would imagine that any huge tipper would have already bought all of her content.

If you participate in a raffle, do you generally spend money you would have tipped her otherwise for tickets? Or do you spend more specifically because of it?

Im just trying to dissect this so I can learn how to put together better raffles in the future and figure out how to market them so that they are more successful! Sorry to ask so many questions!

well when it comes to raffles i look at them as sort of like lottery tickets. no chance for me to win, but at least i have fun rubbing things off lol. seriously though, since i tend to tip offline or anonymously when im able to tip at all im not a huge raffle guy. i've done them before, but i look at it as tipping with the potential of extra benefits other than paying my way with my favorite people.

I participated because I thought the prizes were good and because I wanted to support the model and her raffle/countdown.

I believe content/custom video/skype time would work better for the people that are outside of the USA (per example, here we have a serious problem of people working for our state-owned mail company stealing things) but I think it must be hard to models to get a actual good read of what would be a good product to put up for a raffle, especially if that is a new product.

I think there is not such a thing like "this is a silly prize". There is those prizes that your regulars will want and those prizes that some premium passing by your room will want. Adding that to how random MFC can be, I bet that there is a model that has sold more raffle tickets to something that was silly for her and her regulars than a model that had this elaborated raffle with expensive prizes that lasted an entire month.

Depends of the prize. Maybe 2 to 4 tickets. No.

Depends on which model I'm buying raffle tickets.

:thumbleft: Sorry for being so vague on some of my answers. I really think there is not a formula for coming up with a raffle or every model would be doing the same thing on MFC.

Well, I've entered a few raffles by other models. And usually, I spend about 200 tokens, depending on the cost of tickets. Yeah, I probably would have tipped her that amount anyway (but it might not be until the next week). I'm a cheapass, so when I buy tickets, they have to be under 200 each, cause when I see something like "420 tokens=ticket" I just forget about it. Sorry, but that's too much for me. And yes, if I see about 50 tickets being bought by other members while I'm in the room (and all I can afford is 2), I won't buy any. But, like I said, I'm cheap.

I will buy tickets, but the amount I spend depends on the prize. If it is a video or something, I would rather pay for it upfront to avoid wasting money. I am a sucker for art and will at least buy one ticket to have a chance if it catches my eye.

I like cheap raffles, mostly because I usually enter them for the fun, rather than the chance at prizes. Actually the best game of all though is where the member always wins SOMETHING, even if it's a flash, a gallery and then the bigger prizes like a video. That's why spinny wheels are good, and addictive. It's gambling - put down 100 tokens and you MIGHT walk away with a video worth 400, but if you dont you'll at least get a flash.

I will enter a raffle if the model is a good friend of mine and if the prize is something I value (Skype chat, phone call, etc.)

I currently am involved in a trip raffle that four of my Colombian friends are having. Considering that it is snowing like crazy right now where I live, I really, really hope I win. But then I hope I win the lottery too.

I have bought raffle tickets from a number of models (friends) but it was just as diffrent way of tipping her what I would have tipped anyway. I have allways bought them when the model was activly pushing them and never bought them when they were not the topic of conversation in the room. I have only been present for one drawing and I don't really buy them with the thought that I may win. Ironically, I have won twice.
The only kind of prize I would really be interested in winning was a romantic, candlelit, dinner via skype that one model had offered. Kind of a goofy thing to do but it still would have been a fun and interesting experience.

I wonder if most models and members know that online raffles are illegal in most of the US? Doesn't matter for the member but models could be running afoul of their state laws. Most states only allow non profit organizations to hold raffles and then there are many rules and regulations, for profit raffles are illegal in most states. If it is legal in your state the only people that can technically enter the raffle are people in that same state. If the model is in a different country I doubt it is illegal for members to participate but it it will be "buyer beware" and you have no recourse if it is a shady raffle.

My opinion of raffles has changed over the years. I thought they were neat and fun and was nice to dream about the possibility of winning. Sadly I have become very cynical about them if they have certain key words: Colombia and they pay for the trip being the biggest ones. Raffles for items like, videos, skype dates, custom videos, custom photo sets seem much more legit.

I don't think there's much of a risk for legality here.

You don't really have a way of knowing what state a model really lives in, so you can't know if the raffle's technically illegal.

I know on Chaturbate, all tips are considered "gifts". Pretty sure MFC is more or less the same. So you could always argue that member x's tip was a "gift" to you and legally unrelated to the raffle he was entered in.

You also hear a lot about people with cancer doing raffles and having benefits. I've gone through this with my mother and I highly doubt any cop is going to arrest her for doing a raffle that isn't "non-for profit". The tabloids would have a field day with that.

I was going to point this out, too.

Although when I first started MFC and saw some girls doing raffles (it wasn't nearly as big of a thing as it is now) Jawbs and I discussed the legality of it and decided not to do them. There was also some douchey douche who will not be named who used to go around threatening the models he hated most about the legality of their raffles and "turning them in". But anyway, I decided to say "fuck it" since the majority of higher ranked/score girls were doing raffles and jumped on the bandwagon.

But in the end, I do wonder if MFC's "tips are gifts" wording would help in this situation.

Also, on the topic of what makes for a good raffle: I think things that are somewhat exclusive are the best items to raffle. If a person can turn around and spend the same or less $ on the actual item than on raffle tickets, it doesn't make much sense. If the prize includes something they cannot get otherwise, it seems like it would be more enticing and rewarding to participate and win.

:-D I love raffles and I love putting together fun prizes to send people but Rodry's situation actually made me reconsider how I do them, if at all. Dem pygmys...

I have a box FULL of random pieces of raffle prizes that people didn't want as well. I decided to do raffles only for things EVERYBODY can take part in and enjoy. That way jungle boys don't feel sad when they cannot participate because the chances of a prize even showing up are nil.
I will start raffling off paintings once I get started in my paint therapy, but as far as swag and stuff goes... I'm just leaving that up for sale only. If someone wants mugs or pens they can purchase them outright.

This is not a members perspective, I just wanted to confirm what Rodry said. after what, 6 months and two re sends one finally showed up. it was super disheartening for me.

My raffle that went most successfully had two prizes that cost around the same amount and the winner could choose between. One was sexual (fleshlight), one was something cool that I have that a bunch of people had mentioned wanting (handheld vaporizer). Then I added a skype show with 20 minutes of time to either smoke with me or masturbate.

I had a second prize that was just kinda useful and unique and if you didn't have one, it might be nice... a engraved zippo lighter.

Unfortunately every time I do a raffle, some random seems to win and my regulars pretty much gave up and so did I.

just a little bit of info i ran across while digging thru my notes. apparently my record with raffles back in my early MFC days was spotty. out of 5 i entered and won i actually got 2 of the prizes, and one of those was a digital video, so it was immediate. i never bought more than 10 tickets... didnt keep a record of how many tokens per they were, should have i guess. and apparently i bought in to 11 raffles total. it still doesnt bug me that i didnt get the prizes though, like i say i dont do it for the prize, i do it to take part in the fun.

btw separate post coming about my story idea. looking at these old notes has me rethinking my decision to not do it

With raffles, I have gone kinda of crazy with buying something special from the model. I don't gamble at casinos so this is like gambling in a fun way. Getting the advantage of gaining the odds is fun for me. Seeing the gratitude of the model is really important for me. Whether its getting something on digital or getting something mailed to my house, It always fun to win.

What are you talking about? When did you ever buy a raffle ticket?

I had a letter someone send me never show up, and I cannot stand not knowing what was in it. I thought about asking, but they never told me when they learned it never showed up. I wonder if they had second thoughts about the contents or something.

Yeah, it was during the postal strike in Brazil too so it was extra bad. I ended up sending another box of prizes, one eventually showed up. I was so super sad that the prizes weren't arriving. I don't think I've ever had anything lost in the mail in the U.S but Canada always breaks my shit!

Just wondering, for members what are the best digital prizes?
Id like to do more raffles but it seems like every time Ive done them the winner forgot about their prize or told me not to worry about it. Forwarding parcels turned out to be really expensive from where I live so I dont know that I could send anything larger than a drawing or pair of undies in the mail. :( I definitely wouldnt want to put my return address on something any random person could win.

Speaking mainly for myself, and maybe a few other members too, the best digital prizes could be a free video from content that you've already made...to a custom. But with "custom" being said, I'd like to share a "learning experience" of mine. Please take it as you will, Miss Jessi.

I bought my first custom vid from a model (You know who you are if you're reading this ;) ) almost a year ago. I paid for a 15 minute video. After I emailed my idea and requests, I realized that I'd asked for way too much, given the length of time purchased. I call it "cramming 10 lbs of smutty goodness, into a 5 lb bag!" LOL To her credit, she did everything that I asked for in the video. And...it was 20 minutes long. I basically got free minutes that I didn't pay for. I was very appreciative and made sure to thank the model for her generosity. I admit, I loved the vid, but felt kinda guilty. And this model was very professional and kept me up to date on the progress of making it.

My point is, if you decide to offer a custom video, you may wish to put limitations as to how much your winner can request. Like maybe let him/her choose your outfit and toy(s)? And keep it simple. I say this only because the aforementioned model is now doing something kind of similar now. As a member, I respect the fact that models have to resort to this. Afterall, it is YOUR time and effort that you're putting into it. And even if your winner bought one raffle ticket, or 200...you are not being tipped for the content that you're shooting, at that time. And if you think about it, you're making this for only one person, and not for the general public. I'd hope that members would understand this, and respect it.

As for the rest of the OP's questions...I personally like to do raffles, if only to show support for the model. I've won a couple of raffles and I really enjoyed the prizes. Quite possibly my all time favorite prize was a mixture of "day in the life" type pics. I'm a regular to the model that sent them, and it really meant a lot to me. It was a mixture of silly, playful, and very sexy. And she made sure to keep anything that could divulge her location and/or personal info out of it. "Oh look! She's being silly in a Walmart!" Good luck trying to find out, which one!! LOL So yes, even simple digital pics can be fun.

Overall, I like to tip for raffle tickets because I know that they could provide a very nice boost to a model's camscore. And if I'm a regular to her room, and everyone else is jumping in and tipping for the raffle, it's a blast to see her so happy. And let me be honest...and PLEASE don't think I've creeped out on you, ladies...getting a care package from one of my favorite models, or even a new one, is exciting! She took the time to wrap it, mail it out, and send it to only me! I think that's pretty damned cool!

As for what I'm known for in this forum...sorry it was long winded on my part!! But just my :twocents-02cents:

I bought a bunch of tickets in a raffle that Miss_Lollipop had a while back. But those were tokens I was going to tip no matter what. Most of my tips for her (or anyone really) are just general expressions of "thanks for showing up here and being so entertaining" and aren't intended to be for buying anything in particular. So if some of those tips happen to go to raffle tickets, it's cool, but I'm not really expecting to win anything.

I know you're probably looking for answers from the guys, but you can't go wrong with custom videos. :) Or have it so that the winner gets a choice of a few prize options: custom video OR a whole month of daily pics via e-mail OR all of your pre-made videos OR Skype time.

If your winner doesn't want a custom video (which might have a value of 1,000 tokens), he can choose a different prize off your prize option list (like 1,000 tokens worth of Skype time), or a few smaller prizes whose token values would add up to 1,000 tokens (for example, 5 of your 200-token vids). I hope that makes sense.

A custom video is the best digital prize, in my opinion too. I don't know how a P.O. box works in Canada/USA but maybe you can solve this return adress problem with one of those.

Unfortunately the cost of shipping something to another province> having it repackaged > sent to the winner just isnt worth it.

I can only answer the part of the OP that asks "if you haven't, why haven't you?"

There has never been anything even slightly intriguing to me offered in a raffle. And my luck with winning anything is pretty bad as it is.

I'm not interested in content (vids, pics and such). I'm on MFC for interaction. Content, I can get for free numerous place on the interwebz.

Sure, I gues the content would "special". But it's still just content. No interaction.

As far as material things, I prefer to purchase rather than take my chances in a raffle. Charity raffles are different.

If I'm going to tip, I'm going to tip. A raffle neither persuades nor dissuades me. In fact, if I am tipping and there is a raffle going on, say arbitrarily 50 tokens for a ticket, I will purposely tip no more than 49 tokens in a single tip to avoid the raffle.

So there's that. Probalby not helpful, but it was put out there for public consumption.
