Hi all,

I'm a journalist writing about a scam on a major porn website where recorded shows are being posted as live cams. Viewers - thinking they're interacting with the performers - are tipping and paying for private shows. The website knows about the fake channels but hasn't removed them.

I would love to hear from cam models whether they've had videos of them stolen used for this scam, how they feel about it, its impacts (fewer viewers? less money? viewers feel cheated and trust cammers less? real performers have to compete for views against 24-7 recordings?) and any other thoughts you have.

I would really appreciate your help,

Trinity32

I'm interested in hearing about this! I know some camsites might use recorded videos in a misleading way, but I thought they were short films with actresses? I've also heard of recorded chatrooms being used as promotional videos, but models were aware this might happen (sexual acts and full nudity being not allowed in these parts). Are actual camshows being recorded and used as fake camshows?

There was a well known model on CB once, and a recording of her show from a day or so earlier was being run on an exhibitionist account for some skype scam.

Yes this is very real I closed myself 2 rooms like this. They were getting my live show from Chaturbate and mirroring it on their own site and selling membership to see my past public shows and live shows, of course with no money in my pocket.

Hi, thanks for the reply! Could you tell me how you felt about this happening? Having someone profit off of your work and body, and losing control of how your images and videos are distributed? Do you think scams like this can hurt live cammers by taking away viewers, or perhaps make viewers suspicious of cam shows and hurt the overall market? I would really appreciate your insights, and anyone else's who offers them.

Well I honestly was feeling like being taken advantage off. My photos and vids are there for free I know that but many of those have my room directed link so people can see me live and tip, I am OK with this because brings me potential costumers and exposure. But asking a monthly fee for my shows and making money on my ass hell no makes me feel used. As long as I can take a cut from this is ok but making bank on my ass hell no piss the thing out off me.
Scams like this can hurt the overall market and the trust of the clients in our image. Thanking away wiewers no, because serious members know already to make the difference between recorded or not. But a suspicious member never tip or hardly tip or need way more longer time till tip, and that bring more effort for us model to prove we are legit, more time online more waisted hours.

Call them out! Report them here and maybe the model will see it. We will contact the site and maybe we can get something done on our end.

I would be furious if someone else was making money off recordings of me.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply! Do you have another (less sexy) performer name that i could use to quote you in the article? :)

A year or two ago Chaturbate was regularly attacked by waves of Russians who set up "Exhibitionist" rooms that ran clips on a loop. Every room had HTML links that would send you to scam sites. Chaturbate would delete one and two more would pop up since the operation was partially automated. It took them months but they finally found a way to stop them.
