I was going to start this thread by saying "I may sound stupid saying this cuz I only have one source". But I just googled it & OMFG! it's true. Sex toy's are actually illegal in some parts of America. Seriously?? This kinda shit really makes my blood boil! :angry4: I come from Iran & I'd expect this kinda shit from places like that. But somewhere like the states!? I mean is this law actually enforced? Or is it one of those laws that's been around for ages that isn't enforced like you hear about in these 'stupid laws' books?

You have no idea.

California

It's illegal to sell stuffed items resembling breasts ("boobie pillows") within 1000 feet of a highway.

Georgia

All sex toys are banned. Georgia is also the state that is responsible for Archer so we forgive them http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1486217/

Illinois

If you sell a reptile, you must give a written warning not to "nuzzle or kiss" them.

Louisiana

Necrophilia is legal.

Nevada

Sale of sex toys is illegal.

Texas

It's illegal to own more than six dildos.

Arizona

You may not have more than two dildos in the same house. Which probably means you need to build them their own little houses and use them on the back lawn

Wait, you're surprised that the US has preposterous, outdated, puritanical laws? That's what this country runs on!

To answer your question, no, I don't think it's actually enforced. Hell, sodomy is illegal in my state, as is BDSM (a person may not be give permission to be harmed), but that doesn't stop anyone from getting their kink and their buttsex on. I don't think any cop would actually bother to arrest someone over such a thing. I highly doubt cops are staging raids to make sure nobody in Georgia is hoarding illegal vibrators.

This is funny considering that prostitution is legal in some areas of Nevada.

As far as sex toys, it's highly unlikely that cops would ever enforce it. You might find it more difficult to find sex toys in those areas. If so, just buy them online. :)

...and to think that I possibly broke a law when I lived in Texas. (I'm not trying to offend you Sahi, I just find these laws hilarious)

This is blowing my mind!!!! I'm from australia and we are all about nanny states but this is horrific!!! What are people thinking when they pass these laws!!!!

I remember seeing something on the news about Rudy Giuliani enforcing the ban on dildos law in New York when I was a kid.

A woman in Texas was arrested and is now a felon because she was having one of those sex toy Tupperware parties. Passion Parties? Something like that. This was in the last 20 years. I'm not sure if the law has changed since then but yeah, some of these are absolutely enforced. That same state also requires sexy toy shops to have GIANT warning signs inside saying that everything for sale is either a novelty item or a marital aid prescribed by a doctor or marriage counselor. :?

The reason why Texas has the "no more than six dildos" law is to prevent the operation of sex shops. The fact that she was selling items is probably why she's in trouble. Either way, wow, I always figured it would be something that would warrant, at most, a fine and nothing more.

When i was working at a headshop/porn store in tennessee, the police actually raided us and confiscated all of our toys. The company sued, but it took months to get them back and cleared to sell. It's pretty fascinating. We weren't allowed to call them toys or implements. The HAD to be referred to as novelties. That's also the reason so many mass produced vibrators are cutesy with faces and animals. And, I think our store in Tennessee was only purchased so that they could ship things from Doc Johnson to it because of some Atlanta rule.

To clarify this one, this is in Reno, Nevada only.
http://www.dumblaws.com/law/1330

It's a city law, rather than a state law.

I had to look that up because I was like... Las Vegas can't sell sex toys? Whaaaat?

Brothels are allowed in areas outside of Clark County, which I find slightly humorous x) flash back to the old days!
But in areas like Las Vegas, sex toys and all that are allowed to be sold

Only in Reno are they not able to be sold.

I think it's absolutely hysterical about the sex laws. I work for Athenas Home Novelties (theres that word again... novelties ;) ) and a couple of our top selling Goddesses are from states where it's illegal to sell.
The history about the vibrator is also very interesting and kind of funny too. (Part of joining athena's is training in the history) Toys were invented in the 1800s to cure female hysteria (sexual deprivation) so to cure it physicians would give a pelvic massage but it was starting to hurt their wrists and fingers because they were doing it so often. Hamilton Beach was the first company to actually sell vibrators and they were invented before vacuums lol. In the 1920s they became taboo because it made people uncomfortable, but the 60's brought them back which is what caused some of the laws to go into effect.

your post reminded me of a Law & Order episode with Munch testifying about a perv doctor molesting patients. Female hysteria was the reasoning behind the doctors actions, his answer to the defendants lawyer was O.R.G.A.S.M.
