Anyone have experience getting rid of silverfish?

I moved away from the mold and then right into a million other problems. We've found a whole bunch of them in the place, even though it's incredibly dry here.

They freak me out more than anything else for some reason. I moved out of my parent's house when I was still in high school after finding one in my bed. And I've found two in my camroom today. How can I ever be naked in there again?! Fuck. And one fell out of my jeans that I was about to put on, so now I'm afraid of my closet and afraid of any piles of clothing or boxes we haven't gone through yet. I'm pretty much just terrified to do anything now. (I know it's irrational but can't help it.)

I have a can of Bug Stop that claims to work for silverfish, so I might spray around the baseboards in one room at a time, then keep the cat out of that room for a day. I also found some awesome poison blocks with great reviews, but I don't want poison around for Charles (the cat) to get into.

So yeah... any help would be great!

Clean, clean, clean, clean. Make sure you keep your living and eating areas immaculate and they will go and stay away. :)

They like books too, so if you have any old books in boxes, they might need a clean and spray.

I didn't know what a silverfish was so I googled and and hoollyy fuck, nightmare fuel. >_<

:( no pictures please

The boric acid I've glanced at said it's not safe for pets... I guess I will have to look into that. i'm also going to look into getting the dust for for in the walls and such.

But what I'm really [silver]fishing for here is someone with personal experience getting rid of them.

Also, isn't that first photo a centipede?

Yes, the 1st image is a house centipede, but a lot of people mix them up with silverfish. Regardless, they both thrive in the same cool, damp environments and are treated similarly. I've only had to deal with the centipedes before and the boric acid worked well. Heck, you could probably even use Borax, the laundry detergent.
