I'm sorry to post this here but I haven't been a member long enough to be able to access the models only forum. I have some questions though! So it's my first week on SM. I had a good first few days but Wednesday and this morning were awful LOL. I dunno if I'm doing something wrong or not. It appears that it might just be dead days. And I seem to be logging on when the porn stars are streaming. Anyway that aside, I think something IS hurting me but I've begging Support to fix it and they haven't. I don't have a static thumbnail. I'm starting to feel that because I'm always getting snapshots of posted where I'm mid sentence or laughing and making a terribly unsexy face, that it could be cutting down on my visitors. My question, how long do I have to wait for Support to post my static thumnail?! :( I want to work a lot, I want to be doing squirt shows a few hours a day ! But even on the front page I'm not seeing great traffic. I'm also going to be playing around with hours etc.. but this one issue... man it sucks.

Hi CuteCute,

From what I know, If you are a new model and your first broadcast was within 30 days ago, you sort of have an advantage to appear on the first page under 'new models.' After those 30 days, if you cam consistently (say 90+ hours a month) and stay in pvt/excl chat longer your ranking can improve. If you are the model to not put dedication and hours that may affect, so it's all just give and take. Also if you are enthusiastic in free chat, the site can offer you a topspot show.

I actually didn't get new model status. I started my profile over a month ago and got really sick. I couldn't cam. So I started this week after having my profile really, way too long. I got my 5 x5star rating in a couple hours of camming and made it to the front page, I can do gold shows and topspot shows. I don't have new model status apparently. Never got that advantage. So I'm just trying to dissect what might be plummeting me in the last two days :(

I have been having the same problem as well though but i assume it's a lack of enthusiasm and not enough hours per month that are affecting me. Because I definitely have high end equipment for my shows, good lighting and set up but my traffic has been real shitty. Try to message support again to give you a run down of what might be affecting you and keep track of your ranking page. You mentioned you have static, that can affect ranking too because its not the most reliable quality for a show.

It’s been really slow for the last few weeks. Like you can be on page one and have zero traffic. Just focus on improving things like hours online and whatnot and your rank will go back up. Not that it promises income, but it’ll bounce up. I suspect traffic and money will be more free flowing after the holidays remember that Hanukkah is this week, and there are a bunch of football games.

Hey hun, thanks for the response. I definitely have enthusiasm! If I sense I'm getting cranky, I log off! I also don't have static, I mean that I would like my profile picture to become my thumbnail that displays when I'm online. I definitely have the equipment, lighting and internet :)

Ah yes you're right. These are all very real things that will interfere with traffic for sure. I just felt really great after my first couple streaming day but no ones around LOL

Wednesdays have ALWAYS sucked for me, same with Friday nights.
You're not the first person to tell me this but I have a bad habit of always blaming myself LOL I only got two shows this morning. Thinking about trying again tonight. I dunno if it's worth the effort of getting gussied up and setting up my space LOL very little traffic through

Something I do for typically slow days so I don't feel so put out by the effort, is do my "minimal amount to look presentable" makeup. I love doing a full glam face, but I feel like I threw money down the drain if I make $5 in it. I turn on my lights and camera so I can tell how much coverage I need for blemishes, then I just do lips, eyeliner, and mascara. It's a 10-minute face versus a 40-minute face, and if I don't make much in it, oh well, I clocked in hours at least.

More consistency in your earnings will come with time.
The longer you stick to it and build up your base of regulars, the better your chances of making your daily, weekly and monthly goals.
A lot of people on SM have been feeling the slowness recently, it's not just you!
Remember, a lot of the top earning models have been on the site for years, no need to compare yourself to them, because you're creating your own way! :)

You don't have to be a member on this forum for a while to get access to the model's only section here, I think you just have to verify with @AmberCutie that you are a model on one of the more well known sites like Streamate, MFC, CB, etc.

It has definitely been a lot slower on SM than usual the past few months. It will pick up. Try playing around with different time shifts.

Once you're verified, the "No or Go" thread can be hugely helpful. Most of us never look at it before a shift, but if we've had a slow night and there's lot of reports of little traffic, it can help with morale by knowing that it's not anything personal, some nights are just slow.

There's also a lot of other stuff there to help with placements, the sort of stuff that can help get shows and stuff.

Took a peek at your SM profile, you say you do BDSM. I definitely advise adding more specific fetishes that you cater to. Like are you a sub? A domme? A switch? The more you have on your profile, the more people will find the niches that you cater to. Acronyms are usually what's searched the most, you should change "gf experience" to just GFE. Some might ask what it stands for, but those looking for GFE will be searching "GFE" specifically for instance.

Also try writing something in your profile to entice the crowd you're looking for. I do domination and if you have a look at my SM profile, you'll see what I mean. I say "I am Morrigan, your Queen, your Mistress, your favourite humiliatrix. You'll do as I say and you'll like it too." Shows that I am a Domme by the way I write things, it's a turn on for subs who read it. :)

Not sure who or what this is a reply to but the verification process requires a member to be signed up for a period of time and requires them to make a certain amount of posts before they can apply in the verification thread. Just to clarify.

Oh oops, my bad. I forgot about the certain number of posts rule, it's been a while! :p

HI Thank you so much for the suggestions! I'll revise my profile and see how that does over the weekend. I am still harassing support for a static thumbnail. The bad thumbnails are killing me too.

I definitely agree with not over doing it on the slow days. I think I've got my makeup routine down to a fine, quick application ;) And I'm not fussy about hair cause no one seems to care ;) I think I just despise getting up early or staying up late for nothing LOL. I'm going to try day time camming this weekend and see how it goes for me. :)

Its tough on CB too, very difficult to know when its a good day or not. We had a couple of really slow sundays, but the last sunday was great again. Can never tell what the day is going to bring...

It sure is tough to muddle through the slow shifts!

It's taken me a while to get used to the fact that some days are just going to be slow. Sometimes it still feels awkward to me and I am still trying to get past that mental hurdle. Wednesdays are notorious for me to experience both slow traffic and revenue. I usually wonder if it is me losing dynamic or if it is random and I still haven't caught the pattern for why it happens!!! Mentally frustrating!
