Hello everyone, I'm new here so I'd firstly like to say a big hello ;)

I'm new to the webcam modelling world & I came across a website called Strokum Productions. Has anyone one worked for this webcam company & if so what do you have to say about it?

Which webcam sites do you recommend for a new webcam model?

Thanks in advance :)

I'd really never recommend any up and coming cam girl to go through a studio (which Strokum is, it's not a site, it's a studio that will take a % of any earnings you make on camsites once you sign up under them.) Studios are only good if you absolutely can't handle the tax forms or have no clue about how to get yourself on the Internet, or if you really just want the guiding hand and don't care about keeping all the money you earn to yourself.

I'm sure once you browse around this forum, you will find the answers to your questions. (That is, unless you are only here to promote the site you referenced above. I hope that's not the case.)

Thanks for the explanation! I'm not trying to promote the site mentioned above I just came across it whilst searching for information on becoming a webcam model & I really don't want to get stung by choosing the wrong place to work so I was just looking for a few pointers!

I'm very new to this & I love the forum you've created here; it's very useful :)

Signed up and then posted 5 mins later. Has not been on since last post. Lurk moar.

But yeah, studios like this are a rip off. If you get big, they reap all of your rewards. If you don't get big, well, they still will take a cut. At a certain point, you're better off without them. However once you hit that point, they will fight tooth an nail for you not to leave.

I still say the best way to get popular on any cam site is to create that friendly welcoming environment all the popular girls seem to create. Lighting and a fancy cam dont hurt your chances, but they aren't a necessity (As I dont like to cause drama I wont mention a name) One of the Miss MFC winners of this year could seriously do with a hardware upgrade, yet she's still insanely popular with the members on MFC. Try lurking Amber or Candie, or really any of the other big name girls on MFC, you can find most of them right here on the forum, and just watch what they do. Then steal it and make it your own. I'm not saying directly rip them off. I'm saying take note of what is popular, then put your own personal twist on it and see where that takes you. I would not recommend going through a studio, all the girls I know who have gone with a studio have had to fight hard to get away from it after the fact.

Thanks for the advice...I think I will sign up with MFC as most models on here seem to rate them! BTW I'm not a 'lurker' I'm just new to this game & I don't to make mistakes etc etc ;)

Was browsing google when I found this post about Strokum Productions. It's run by a canadian model named Stacy Strokum, and I worked with her (i signed up and worked through her studio) for about a year.

No offence to anyone here, but this isn't any ordinary studio. She takes 10% of your pay to do all the technical work, yes...but other studios I saw took 30-50 percent!

It's different because she helps you become a better cam model. After about 8 months of working with her, she was only taking 2% of my earnings, and I told her when I reached the pay level where she took nothing, I was going to go off on my own, and she was really happy about it.

She's a fellow model who wanted to make a studio "the right way". In her effort, she's succeeded in my eyes, and I have nothing bad to say about her. She did promotions for me, she got my name out there, taught me how to use Twitter (I was new) and showed me how to market myself until I had nothing else to learn.

5 stars for a modern day studio if you ask me. This is just my opinion, i'd be surprised if there were any bad ones out there.

That sounds like an amazing arrangement for a new model. With some of the Eastern European studios, the percentage claimed by the studio increases with your earnings.

Good to hear, thanks for the info post. :)

No problem. I really enjoyed working with her, and since she's sort of new, she doesn't get much feedback. I think she deserves it.

She also runs http://camunderground.com now to sort of help out new models, but the site is for everyone involved in the webcam business. It's been open for a couple weeks now and is apparently doing pretty good from what I can see.
