Tone Check is a newly developed software which edits e-mails for negative tone/content. I thought it was pretty interesting. I heard about it in an interview with the developer this last weekend on "in the media" a NPR program. I am not much good at finding links and provide only the link to Tone Check's FAQ page. Perhaps someone else can give better links or maybe one to the interview itself?

I'm cautious about this idea. Mostly because of how much fail spell-check is, and how much WORSE of a fail automated grammar-check is.

Just found a fail in the OP, (other than my lazy ass failure to hunt down some legit links), it's 'on the media' not in the media, sorry.

I could see this as a possible tool for overly-aggressive, defensive type people who tend to use too many phrases that may sound threatening. If someone knew that about them self and seriously wanted to be less annoying in their email, it might help, although I suspect it may turn their email into a very bland, robotic medium. :)
