New collection, lol. It turned out I don't have to pack up my whole life this winter, so I celebrated by losing my mind, and going on a shopping spree, to dive into two youtube obsessions I have: diecast car racing, and modding/kitbashing/trash-bashing/scratch-building.

Here's an example of the racing:

Here's an example of some crafting:

So, yeah, I've recently been buying up Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Maisto, and other 1:64 diecast toy cars, with full intentions to get into modding/bashing, myself. I've been trying to resist the urge for years, but I always walk down the Hot Wheels aisle when I got to the various stores, and I've always missed my old collection (which was "donated" to nieces and nephews when they were little). I'm really enamored with the idea of being able to turn collecting into a more creative hobby through modding, and track and diorama building, which I can probably roll my other miniature collecting into, as well.

Here's another example of the modding, because modding really excites me:

Holy hell, I don't think I could be any more of a geek if I tried.

Really enjoy your creativity there! (and getting a Mad Max vibe, which is now urging me to revisit those movies)

It is very much Mad Max aesthetics.

Here's the result of my first attempt. Painting miniature models is not the same as painting canvases, lol.

This was great fun, and I learned a lot. I'm already working on the next one. I'm going to try my hand at less fantastical modding, too. I have a ton of ideas!

As a publisher ;)
so it's not really audiobooks you collect it's revenue ?
I also enjoy collecting revenue, one of my favorite things to collect

well, for post #2, i shall jump into something i have a few of, just to bump a nearly-month-stale thread:

  • books
  • nerdstuff
  • random and not always related shit that i group together on my own as a 'collection'
  • unfinished projects
  • mental health issues and conditions...yay!

Mostly chaos and impulse purchases 😅 But if we’re being real, I collect cool mugs. Weird shapes, funny quotes, anything that makes my morning coffee feel like a tiny event. It’s getting out of hand but I regret nothing.

Vinyls. I love being able to listen to music offline!
I have a huge collection back in the uk (at least I am told I still have it, good chance they got thrown out after I left though)

My brother bought me a wireless turntable and speakers one Christmas along with a load of vinyls from the 90s.

I haven’t even set it up yet - I know if I do I’ll end up spending all my Saturdays rifling through vinyl record stores and I’m not sure if I’m ready for that commitment yet!

Sounds like a nice way to spend Saturdays, tbh. A classic pastime.

It's a slow build. Some of my collection I bought this or last year and others I've held on to since the 2010s.

Ah, this talk of vinyl takes me back to being a kid and deliberately playing records on the wrong speed, such as 45's sped up to 78 and slowed to 33.
One thing I don't miss is the scratching sound of the needle, or having to remove the dust and fluff that always caught on it.
But that's probably part of the experience enthusiasts enjoy now!
