There's nothing funny about an organisation that's supposed to protect animals not doing their job, or doing the exact opposite - which is what PETA does.

While I will admit the lawsuit was a bit silly it was also pretty smart. I however am extremely disappointed that they did not use this possible groundbreaking move to go after bigger issues than Seaworld, where the animals are well fed, cared for and interacted with. Like maybe, I dunno, the huge scientific animal testing facilities that indeed mistreat the animals. These are large organizations that are as capable of being sued as fucking Seaworld but Seaworld is going to bring more publicity.
They tried to release Keiko, for years they worked to ready him, he died. :( most of the animals at sea world are rescues and couldn't survive in the wild. They are lucky to have such an interactive home to live out their lives.

I think PETA care more about their cause than the animals they're meant to be fighting for.

Exactly. In that video clip the PETA spokeswoman could not even see how hypocritical she was when they pointed out she owned a dog, while she was saying the whales 13th amendment rights were being violated.

Documents: PETA kills more than 95 percent of pets in its care
Published: 11:29 PM 02/24/2012

Documents published online this month show that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, an organization known for its uncompromising animal-rights positions, killed more than 95 percent of the pets in its care in 2011.

The documents, obtained from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, were published online by the Center for Consumer Freedom, a non-profit organization that runs online campaigns targeting groups that antagonize food producers.

Fifteen years’ worth of similar records show that since 1998 PETA has killed more than 27,000 animals at its headquarters in Norfolk, VA.

In a February 16 statement, the Center said PETA killed 1,911 cats and dogs last year, finding homes for only 24 pets.

“PETA hasn’t slowed down its slaughterhouse operation,” said Rick Berman, CCF’s executive director. “It appears PETA is more concerned with funding its media and advertising antics than finding suitable homes for these dogs and cats.”

In a statement, Berman added that PETA has a $37 million dollar annual budget.

His organization runs PETAkillsAnimals.com, which reports that in 2010 a resident of Virginia called PETA and asked if there was an animal shelter at the group’s headquarters. PETA responded that there was not.

Yeah I felt sick a few years ago when I read that PETA was euthanising cats and dogs and using the figures to justify their funding saying "look how many animals are being killed"

I love Penn and Teller's Bullshit. Since I was a vegan for years (now vegetarian) that was the first episode that was shown to me. Jessi, I'm another vegetarian who is embarrassed by those assholes. I don't know a single vegetarian/vegan who supports PETA at this point. And yeah, their marketing campaign is all sorts of fucked. It's all about women being objectified, and if the camwhore is saying it....

Also, the whale billboard is stupid - I know lots of fat vegans and vegetarians. No one likes to just eat veggies right? So we pack our mouths with carbs and potatoes and shit. Who needs a bigmac when you can have deepfried vegan cheesecake, fuck tons of bread and french fries? Bread will destroy me..I love it. BRB bread tiem naow.

peta is terrible i wish they would go away. im vegan and i hate being represented that way, and yeah being vegan can be good for losing weight if you eat the right way but its super easy to replace any junk food out there with a vegan option. just because its vegan doesn't mean its healthy. oreos, french fries and soda are all vegan.

really? I would have thought they'd be vegetarian but rarely vegan. I lived with some vegan chicks years ago and they wouldn't even eat butter or anything that had any animal product in it at all.

all of the foodstuffs i listed have no animal products in them including dairy. there is the debate that some soda isnt vegan because some companies use animal bone to refine their sugar butttt i do believe the larger soda companies have confirmed they do not.

Close, although Oreo filling includes gelatin, which is made from animal products.

My error, thanks for setting me straight. lol Foolishly, and I know better, instead of going to the source, I relied on that woman who wrote a book on how to make all the popular junk food at home. lol She uses gelatin in her "simulated Oreos."

Refined sugar is made using bone-char filters. A lot of people dont avoid it because a) its too hard to find products without it and b) the bone char is a leftover from the meat industry, the livestock wasn't killed solely for its bones.
And I miss Jello. Juicy Gelz arent as jiggly. :(

My friend is going to school to be a vet tech and has been telling me far too many stories of how vegan pet owners are raising their pet's to be vegan as well and confused of why their pet is so sick when bringing them in...

Thats sick. I hope you don't think most or all vegans/vegetarians do that.
Cats and dogs are obligate carnivores- its easy for humans to change up our diet because we are omnivorous and have this wonderful ability of creating new recipes. Pets dont have a choice of what they eat, if people truly care for their animals respect their nature and respect the fact that they need a high-quality, meaty, grain free diet. The meat that goes into pet food is all leftover scraps anyway- extra animals aren't killed to make pet food (although I wonder about unwanted horses and zoo animals, hope thats an urban legend).

I don't, it's just one of the biggest facepalm moment's i've had in a long time. It's just one of those things I never even thought about until he told me I wouldn't believe how many times it happens. As for me I am just an asshole that will eat everything that tastes good, because if the cow could she would eat me and everyone I care about.

Youd think as vegans those people would care enough about animals to feed them right. Now Im upset :icon-cry: goddammit brain stop having feelings.

From the petards website itself:

Vegetarian Dogs and Cats
Many vegetarians and vegans feed healthful, meatless diets to their companion animals. One remarkable example is that of Bramble, a border collie whose vegan diet of rice, lentils, and organic vegetables contributed to a nearly record-breaking lifespan of at least 27 years.(6) Studies have shown that the ailments associated with meat consumption in humans—such as allergies, various types of cancer, and kidney, heart, and bone problems—also affect many nonhumans.

The nutritional needs of dogs and cats can be met with a balanced vegan diet and certain supplements. James Peden, author of Vegetarian Cats & Dogs, developed Vegepet™ supplements to add to vegetarian and vegan recipes. They are nutritionally balanced and also come in special formulas for kittens, puppies, and lactating cats and dogs.

Some people wonder if it’s “unnatural” to omit meat from the diet of a dog or cat. Animals in the wild commonly eat quite a lot of plant matter. Besides, to feed them the meat that they would naturally eat, you would have to serve them whole mice or birds or allow them to hunt for themselves, an option that is unfair to native species of birds and other small animals, since companion cats and dogs have been removed from the food chain and have advantages that free-roaming animals lack. Vegetarian or vegan dogs and cats enjoy their food and good health, and a vegetarian diet for your companion animal is ethically consistent with animal rights philosophy.

:? jeebuz.
The amount of vitamins and measuring and shit I have to eat to be healthy, imagine how much harder it would be on a cat for example? Whiskas isn't even good for them, and I seriously doubt the idiots trying it at home are animal nutritionists.
The frozen raw diets are probably the best thing for them, but if you dont have the freezer space a high-protein low-grain/veg kibble is good too. They eat less of the high-end food to get the same amount of nutrition, so the cost balances out.
Now, to lighten the mood, heres a pic of my hwealthy wittle cwarnivore. Gimme all yer upvotes

Yes, and cats are far more carnivorous than dogs. Do these folks want us to go out on the velt and feed lions boiled lentils and shit? LOL

And why are fish superior in some way to carrots, turnips or beans? Life is life, and we've all evolved to eat each other, in one way or another.

I'm curious where you got that information from?

I know the Inuit's diet is high in protein and very high in fat – in their traditional diets (whales, walrus, caribou and seal) Inuit consume an average of 75% of their daily energy intake from fat but it's mostly eaten raw while frozen and they have little to no health issues compared to the rest of the world. A sled dog's diet is very similar consisting of about 50% fat, 15% carbohydrates, and 35% proteins.
