The beginning of this month marked the 32 year anniversary of the infamous Wonderland Murders in Los Angeles, Ca. involving the 1970s porn legend John Holmes aka Johnny Wad.
I just watched the 2003 movie Wonderland starring Val Kilmer as John Holmes. I must say, I never knew much about John Holmes before watching this movie, and all I can say is wow, what a scum bag this guy was! And by the way, Val Kilmer gave an excellent performance as usual.
The movie was awesome. Kate Bosworth, Lisa Kudrow, Dylan McDermott, Carry Fisher, Christina Applegate, and Ted Levine are also in this movie. Definitely recommend watching. You can find it free at movie4k.to (formally movie2k.to). After watching the movie, I wanted to learn more and found a good documentary on youtube as well.
This scum bag John Holmes ripped off everyone he knew to feed his cocaine addiction, became a dirty rat of a police informant, beat his (under age) girl friend on a regular basis, as well as forcing her into prostitution. He set up his friends to be murdered by an L.A. crime boss, in what was one of the most gruesome scenes since the Sharron Tate murders. And he continued to make porn even after he was diagnosed with AIDS.
He finally died from AIDS back in 1988.
