There are a handful of words that I CONSTANTLY misspell each and every time I type them. JessicaLapin reminded me the other day on Twitter regarding "restaurant."

Here are mine that I constantly fail at: (I will update when I remember more)

occassion / ocassion occasion
dissaprove disapprove
disapointment disappointment

What are yours?

Seams and seems. It's just one I've fucked up so long that I have trouble fixing it.

That and lingerie. I know how to spell it now, but that's just because I remember it's "lin-geer-ee."

I mean seriously. Who the fuck came up with that?
I'd like to know who came up with the English pronunciation. Is it supposed to cover your lawn? In Québec we usually say "lingerie fine" when referring to ladies' unmentionables.

English is a PITA as far as spelling goes, because words can be pronounced differently depending on meaning, and words spelt differently share pronunciation.

Well, according to Mikeythegeek and others, I have problems with spelling the word "color" correctly.

Also, AmberCutie shows up as a misspelling according to the spell check. Is it the site or is it Chrome that's doing the spell check?

I'm not sure when I should be using "dreamt" or "dreamed", or "spelt" or "spelled", but apparently, dreamt and spelt are misspellings.

alot / a lot used to get me all the time as did does/dose

Now I just use spell check to let me know when I fuck up. Of course the spell check in Chrome doesn't like dildo but I don't want to add it to the dictionary, I think it's funny :P

I am constantly making an effort to fix one or two words that I fail on at a time. The last one to get fixed was definitely. Haven't noticed one recently that deserves attention but I am quite certain that there will be another. Restaurant does mess with me sometimes but I've actually started pronouncing it differently in my head to help with spelling.

I HATE the American spelling of colour. Makes me cringe!

Don't hate on our color and flavor. It honestly fits how Americans say them anyhow. :-P

I bet it also upsets you to see someone mention the color gray.

Yep bugs the hell out of me!! And if we were going to spell words how we say them us Aussies would be spelling them "Cullah" and "Flayvaah"

this is gonna sound real white trash but here goes suppost supposed lol!
As long as you don't get them mixed up with suppository, you'll be okay.

Words that fail me, fail me right now. I know there are a few, but can't recall any at the moment.

It still mystifies me how people can spell tongue as tounge.

We need a UK dictionary somewhere here too! How in theeee fuck did the word flange get related to pussy?

I know, that bothers me too, but phonetically, you'd have to admit that tounge is a lot more closer than tongue.

tounge is a lot more closer than tongue.
a lot more closer
more closer

*brain explodes*

If your browsers' spell checks don't like a word, you should be able to right click it and add it to the dictionary. I'm not sure if Chrome makes it more of a hassle though.

But yeah. English is the most confusing language. I'm glad it's the first one I learned in life.

I keep wanting to spell separate as seperate and triathlon as triathalon.

Bureaucrat always gives me trouble too.

Some words I just plain give up on and spell them my own way like horse doovers instead of hors d'oeuvres  And yes, I know how to properly say it.

Words never fail me, I'm good at them.

I always seem to have a problem with that too.

I know there are others, but none are coming to mind at the moment.

simple word that kills me--
choice - i put choise every time

inadaquate is really spelled inadequate.

I've always had a de facto mental spellcheck for 99.99% of words. Even if I've never heard the word before I can almost always tell if it's spelled correctly or not.

Don't let that fool you though. I often forget if 'cocoon' is spelt that or 'coccoon.'
