oh, and on an only somewhat tangential note....Los Angeles county passed a "porn shoots must be done with condoms" law last night.....so much for the San Fernando Valley being the heart of the porn industry.....

I have been reading conservative blogs on and off all day. They are calling Mitt a flip flopping liberal, and not a real Republican. One is even blaming congress for not shutting down the entire government to make Obama look bad. They are also saying that they need to move even further right, and double down on things like abortion. They seem to have learned nothing.

I'm really at a loss here. Republicans think Mitt lost because he wasn't far enough right? Who did those people vote for? No one? Then fuck em. He was their best bet and they let him down. I think they're delusional though. I really want to not feel forced into voting for my President based on who has the best chance of beating the social conservatism nut jobs. Stop trying to control LGBT and women's rights and a LOT of people will feel more comfortable voting for them.

But remember, with the popular vote being close to a 50-50 split, when you're taking shots at the wonks, you are also at risk of offending half of the population. I feel bad for republicans who run for office slightly in that regard, you get in bed with the GOP you get in bed with the christian right and suddenly you're saying you're pro life in all cases and come off sounding like you're defending a rapist and punishing the woman so congrats you sound like double the douchenozzle just to make a small amount of people happy.

We are not making fun of the Republicans who are willing to work with Obama. We are making fun of the Republicans who are acting like Obama being elected is the end of the world. We are making fun of the Republicans who think that Romney was too middle-of-the-road to win. What they don't realize is that they still have power in Congress, so they can still get shit done even with Obama in office. What they don't realize is that the only reason it WAS so close is that Romney was middle-of-the-road.
Part of me actually hopes they do veer off the middle course, because that will be shooting themselves in their feet, and maybe leave room for a third party to finally push its way in, and push the nutjobs out once and for all.
Here's what I heard:

Republicans: If you vote for Obama, I'll never speak to you again! You are dead to me, you hear? DEAD!
Democrats: Why the fuck will you vote for Romney? Oh well, lets work together no matter what the outcome!
After the election:
Republicans: This nation is fucked. We're all going to die. No point in continuing.
Democrats: Wait, what? Come on, we still have a chance here!
I only hope that enough Republicans wake up and realize that it's nowhere close to the end of the world, and start actually trying to save this country instead of just trying to give all the people's money to the corporations.

unfortunately I saw it on both sides and it upset me how people turned it so personally. threatening to end relationships based off the way people voted it's ridiculous.

To those people, I'd like to suggest getting involved in the Libertarian Party. They're more fiscally conservative than Republicans in many ways and without all the social conservatism BS. There's a lot of Libertarian ideas that scare me when I read about them but I have to admit on the occasions I heard Gary Johnson speak, I felt swayed by a lot what he had to say in large part because I felt like he believed every word of it personally rather than feeling he was just saying what his party was all about.
