Since most of the advice we have is locked in the model's only section, and people might be wanting a thread in the non-model's only section (I did a search, and found a whole three possibly useful threads outside the model's only section), I thought we might want one here for advice to new camgirls.
THIS SHOULD NOT BE A HOW TO RUN YOUR ROOM THREAD.
Why? Because every model is different. And that is the first thing I would tell anyone considering being a model- yes, watch what others do and take ideas, but do your own thing. Be your own person.

A useful thread on the forum is Questions Regarding Caming by someone who knew she wanted to be a model but wanted to know a bit more before stepping into it.
Now, my specific advice is:
***Be ready for anything.***
I mean anything. They will give you compliments or insults that make no sense (like being called fat when the wind could carry you away... or being asked if you do drugs when you're a little overweight...). They will ask you to do things beyond your wildest dreams (you want me to pretend you're a tiny person?) They will question you about anything and everything, so be prepared with which things you will answer truthfully, and which things you will deflect and how. (That question is irrelevant to the purposes of this website. Or- None of your business. Or- Online I'm free as a bird! Or- Let's talk about what you want to see instead.)
Many sites allow you to have a topic for the day. Some sites allow you to do public shows, or countdown style shows. Figure out what sorts of shows you want to do, then brainstorm every type of show you can think of doing. Don't worry about possible or not during brainstorming- that's the sorting phase. Write them down in a way for sorting (notebook paper with colomns for the sorting later? index cards you can put into piles? whatever). Give yourself a week or two on that stage. Also, don't just put "housekeeping". Put "Housekeeping-dishes" "housekeeping-laundry" "housekeeping-cleaning with chemicals" "housekeeping- floors" and so on. It gives you more space for ideas. Then, when you can't think of anything else, sort them into piles of "never in a million years. (fucking a dog)" "I don't think I'd want to do that. (piss or poop)" "if I got enough money, but doubtful. (guest on cam)" "would do it but I don't have ____ (feather pillows- to shred)" "TOTALLY DOING THIS! (Naked Martial Arts)" "I guess I can try it (Anal)" and so on.
***Research the Sites you want to try***
Suggestions are- look at what the top models are doing, then look at what the mid-line models are doing. Not just one or two, but a lot of them. Check out the profiles. Look at what the customers are doing (when possible). If you know a model on here has worked with a site and you want to ask about it, do so!
***Read the Contract***
Try to get ahold of the contract before starting teh signup process. At the very least, they have to show it to you before you're fully signed up.
***Are you Sure You want to?***
-what goes online stays online. Someone is going to cap you. Someone is going to record you and post it somewhere. People will find out what you do. Some of them might not react very well. Are you willing for this to be on your permanent record? If not, this is not for you.
-people are asshats. Everyone is an asshat in some way or another (I am very exact and hate when someone gets something wrong, so I tend to correct people way too often. I can come across as condescending. I don't mean to- I just do.) You will run into every sort of asshat out there. Some of them will be very very sweet. Some of them will be very very mean. Can you deal with both? Can you deal with it if someone you thought was very very sweet goes apeshit on you the minute you can't do exactly what they want? Can you deal with people trying to guilt trip you?
-there is no guarantee. yes, it is possible you will be an incredible hit. More likely, you will have to put in some effort to get money. There is a slight chance that no matter how hard you try you won't make rent. Are you willing to face that?
I am not trying to dissuade people from doing this. I'm just trying to make sure that they don't regret it if they do. It can be a very lucrative and rewarding job. It can also be hell. I've seen both sides of it, and I love it
I'm going to end by saying that I can answer questions about MFC, Streamate, and Clips4Sale.
