cam help!

hopefully someone can help. since last week my cam has been randomly freezing up during broadcasting. the red light on top that's on while broadcasting goes off and then i get an error message that the device has malfunctioned in the usb port. i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the cam software and that hasn't done anything. i have logitech quickcam pro and running windows xp. does anyone have any idea what could be wrong??

Have you tried in a different USB port? Have you tried on a different computer? Does your webcam have that light sensor? I have seen a webcam that was turning off instead of adapt the exposure.

Did you install your software from the website, or from the cd that came with your cam?

It doesn't do updates very well... so it's best to grab it directly from the site. Also, you can then make sure the software is compatible with xp.

Did you try updating the usb port drivers? For that matter, did you make sure your computer was up-to-date with windows update?

Try this to fix USB malfunction errors

Turn off your computer, un-plug the power cord (or battery for a laptop) of your computer for about 30 minutes, plug the power cables back, restart the computer and the problem should be fixed
