Hey all.
On CB and maybe on other sites it can lag.
And now many use 4K when broadcast.
So what equipment do cam models use ?
Camera
Screen
Computer

I think a lap top is nice as you can move it easy and even travel anywhere and bring it easy.
But I think now what's needed is :
144hz screen
16GB RAM
Nivida geoforce 1660ti
2060
2070
2080
Intel i5 or i7 or AMD
512 SSD

To be able to process video / picture editing.
Less lag.
And HD stream.

What you guys think ?
And more importantly what do you use ?

I just bought a new laptop with these specs:
144hz screen , size 15,6"
Nivida geoforce 1660ti ( graphic card )
i7 7950 professor
16GB RAM
512 SSD

I think this thread can be really useful for new models as well as older models that need new computer or camera.

With OBS, and now so many models on CB, and new buttons and features.
I think a fast computer will handle it best.
Less lag.
Better stream quality.
Better for photo and video editing.
And many model now stream in 4k.
So for that I think you need a computer with those specs or similar.

I don't think the specs are overkill. As much of it is at this point not top tier hardware. My personal computer is a Dell XPS15 9570 (bought Nov '17), with i7-8750 cpu, 32GB Ram, 512GB SSD and trying to do video work tasks it pretty heavily. Granted, I'm not a model, so I can't speak to streaming. But, I have Skyped with various people and never hear complaints. Even on a WiFi connection.

While not everyone can afford a top tier computer. They should buy the biggest system they can when it comes to performance specs.

I might disagree with a laptop as the sole display, as a larger monitor may allow for better viewing of text, and more screen space. But, it also might limit one in how mobile they can be. A few models I know use large monitors, and wireless keyboards. I've also seen models use carts to roll their computers around.

A top high spec computer will be:
Geoforce 2080
i9
32 GB
1 T SSD
And 1 or 2 T HDD
But than we talk way different price range.

A laptop is good for many.
A big box computer and a big screen is prefered by others.

I saw yesterday on twitter several cam models complained on bad connections when they cam.
A fast computer , fast processor, fast because of enough storage and so on I'm sure will help some days.
A few days the servers will be bad.
I really think you need a good computer to stream good.

I think it's best to just worry about your own duties as a member (enjoying yourself! getting off! or whatever) instead of stressing about what models are using or not, or giving unsolicited advice. Not every model is in the position to have a great computer or internet connection to start off! It doesn't mean they don't know they need something better, though! Lots of models spend years building up their perfect collection of computer, cameras, lighting, etc.

1. Please dont talk to me as I'm an ignorant kid. Very rude and you put your self up high. Like your some famous big shot porn star. And I never even seen you or heard from you..........
2. A good computer that lead to less lag = tippers can tip you. And viewers can view you = you can make more money.
3. A good camera = more actually want to look at you.
4. A good microphone = viewers hear you good.

If you think all cam models are it experts, or know what they need, than why do so many ask here? And on Twitter?

Or maybe you are afraid of bigger competition ?

I still think it's a great thread, to help new as well as old models.

But maybe lebron James can be best with shoes from 1965. And a old equipment. Easier for all others than.

Dude that's not what at all what I said. It's obvious to everyone that cam models with good equipment do better, you're honestly stating nothing that's new for anyone. But the truth is, a lot of cam performers don't actually make a ton off camming, especially on CB. Maybe they haven't been camming long or only do it occasionally, or just don't have the traction or audience to pull in big bucks and are happy with what they do make. Expensive equipment adds up and it's not always the right decision to buy it right away. If cam models with low quality cams or computers bug you, then stick to the rooms with HD feeds, there are hundreds of them on CB.

For video editing sure, but most models aren't doing heavy editing, a lot don't even record videos. Even if finding a laptop with these settings isn't expensive doesn't mean that it's required. He's also wrong about models using 4k, not even 1% of models are streaming in 4k. You really just need a current gen i5 or better and a decent amount of ram to have a good quality stream.

Also for the record, there are tons of threads on this site where models discuss which equipment to use. It's just that generally, a member speculating on what equipment we need to use to make the most money is annoying and stepping on toes.

A general member. Honey. You assume much.
I am a moderator. I tip and I use my free time to help girls ( cam models ) for free.
And I spend my money by tipping.
I have done this for 5+ years.
Over the years I have learnt a thing or 2.
If you assume all are idiots and stepping on toes because we not show on cam your a bit far from the reality.

Yes many can not afford top equipment at the start. It doesn't mean they not try figure out what to use and save up.

On CB it's now roughly 5000 models.
Before it was like 1500 - 2000 when I first came to CB.
Now its harder to make money there. More gard work, and it's more important with good equipment = less lag, clear picture, HD cam.

The faster a model can get good equipment the faster / the bigger is the chance of do better and make more money.

But we IDIOTS, that watch, tip, and help girls for free, dont know shit!
And should NOT give models advice.
Very mature and good reasoning from you I say.

Very good reply thx.
I personally are curious whether i5 is enough or if i7 is needed.
I really dont know.
CB grow very fast, and maybe a faster processor give less lag ?

That's why it's very interesting to see what cam models use, and maybe hear how they experience it.

Cam models come on here and direct those questions at other cam models. Just FYI

Oh great, another mod that thinks he’s god and not just on the same tier as all the general members. Hate to break it to you but we don’t need advice from you dude. The best place for cam models to get advice is from other cam models. They know the most about it. You’ve really gone out of your way on this thread to be rude to a model and also act like you do some great deed by modding.

Appriciate your contribution.

Not to be a party killer.
But if you read and understand what I write, you see clearly I ask models what they use :).
Ask models as this form is made for.

Your first post in this thread, you attempt to give advice, but you are not a model, so why are you doing this?

On Streamate, some models have been told by support that an i5 processor isn't enough, so if someone came along and found this thread looking for information because they are looking to upgrade their computer, it is not as helpful as you think it is.

And I told what I think.
The thread get informative and good with more replies like yours.
Thx :)

You're the one being rude here. She tells you basically to just enjoy yourself and not fuss over the tech side and you turn it into a snooty, pretentious "Oh WHO are you?? You're not a famous porn star?" Like wtf dude you joined a forum full of cam models--no need to be such an oversensitive jerk then make untrue assumptions about anyone being afraid of competition when we're all constantly sharing tips/uplifting eachother in the models only section.

Also most models WANT other models to do well. This is why the forum is here after all! There are SO many helpful models here including @Ava Nicole We work in an industry where tons of men interject. And I'm sorry, being a CB mod doesn't make you this elevated status higher than other members. Don't expect anyone to pat you on the head for it here.

The thread IS a good thread to have for models wanting to learn more but your attitude stinks.

Yes

Yes this is to tell someone to enjoy.
Just saying.

I think computer recommendations depends on what the model is going to use it for, a 144hz monitor is only really needed for gaming, an i7 with lots of ram is good for video editing, a Geforce GTX 1660 is good if you want to stream with OBS on a computer with a weaker processor because you can use the NVENC hardware encoder. A good webcam and lighting are the most important things, without that the computer specs doesn't really matter.

I dont like the thread because its unrealistic for most models. The majority of models in the world do not have access to the amount of upload bandwidth needed for 4k.

I don't like AMD because of issues i've run into with the hardware encoding disappearing from obs. I don't recommend a system with a dedicated video card either because its simply a waste of money for your average cb model, quicksync is fine in my opinion.

When a model asks me for help shopping for a system I just tell them to get an i3, i5, i7 that has an overall CPU mark of 4500+ and a single thread rating of 1700+ on passmark. For example this https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-8130U+@+2.20GHz&id=3225 is perfectly fine. Bare minimum of 4gb of ram.

Holy shit, hypocrite much? Don't be such a dick about your attempt to "help" models. Jesus Christ.

Pretty much ^^ this.

This whole thread is just a waste, and has only proven that the OP is not the type of person we enjoy interacting with whatsoever.

Oh man and the irony of this post in another thread asking about gaming PCs.

I'm not a gamer. But hopefully you get nice helpful replies :)
Dude isn't a streamer either, but didn't stop him from creating a whole fkn thread about what kind of machine to use for streaming!

But he is a moderator on CB, he needs that 144hz monitor so he can react to what people writes within milliseconds so he can ban them. :D
