Looking over my statement at the end of the month, my card got compromised for the second time in several months. Last one was apparently from using it at Michael's who reported they were compromised similarly to Target. Got a new card number after that one. I am tech savvy and 99% sure it's not from a virus or anything. This time it was right after a purchase at MFC. So, I'm wondering if anyone has had trouble with the CC processors that MFC uses as far as fraud, or if it is just coincidence.

Here's a link to an article about it, in case anyone is interested.

(also, wasn't sure the best place to put this, so if it should be moved somewhere else, feel free admins.)

I had four get hit back in january and 5 around march 10th. Four of them hadn't been used since September for anything. Not mfc, not target, not online, not anywhere. The march ones were all the $9.84 weblearn one. Spent an entire Sunday closing those cards and getting new ones reissued. Also got fraud affidavits on the way i have to sign. While I'm at it if anyone has a Commerce Bank visa. I'd cancel it. They wouldn't honor it and forced me to pay. I closed that account all together.

Could just be a dude watching what you do and once you put the new cc details in he wanted to see if it worked. Wouldn't hurt to keep a close eye on activity for that card.

Got the same "weblearn charge" on the card I use for MFC and only MFC. Had to cancel the card...getting a new one.

For the guys who think its tied to MFC, which payment processor do you use? (netbilling, ccbill, epoch)

I use netbilling. I had this exact charge on one of my cards. (BLS*WEBLEARN8884612032 - ST JULIANS)

Looking at this card I've only used it for paypal and mfc.
Another card I use on mfc was also replaced recently for fraud.

I really think there is an issue at netbilling.

What really pissed me off is when I called my credit card company they told me I should have called the vender first. I told them I had no interest in interacting (and providing any information) to people who fraudulent bill me.
The credit card company claimed it wasn't fraud since it was below a arbitrary dollar threshold. And they'd send me a form to fill out. (they did later reverse the charge without the paperwork)
They also declined my request for a new credit card number since this one is obviously stolen.

Luckily my card company is cool with reversing the charges and getting me a new card, but the woman I talked to didn't seem too bothered by the fraud. I told her it was a known fraudlent charge according to the Internet and she said they had been getting a lot of them recently. No big deal to her I guess. Started to suggest I call the company and get it reversed which I'm guessing is their standard reply. Maybe that saves them some money or something. Better to let me the customer deal with the assholes trying to steal my money.

I use Netbilling most of the time since it's the default. I would agree that it is likely a breach there, although I wouldn't be surprised if multiple processors are having the same problems.

I've had two of these fraudulent charges on my credit card within the past 3 months. Both charges appeared within a day or two after purchasing mfc tokens through netbilling. I was suspicious if these charges were connected to my token purchases but shrugged it off as I've been buying tokens for almost 4 years and had never had a problem before this. Seeing that other members have had this same issue is definitely cause for concern.

I don't really like the sound of this. Like i said before. I have one card designated specifically for MFC and have never had problems. The credit card company actually contacted me about the suspicious "weblearn charge" from Malta. I'm glad they have my back. Had to cancel the card and am now waiting for the replacement. But, I think i am gonna hold off from using it for a while to see if netbilling has been compromised and this fraud starts running rampant.

I may be wrong but I have read about this and I don't think it is connected to any one company. Not sure how they are scamming so many people but it appears to be very wide spread.
:dontknow:

A Google search will pull up quite a few links to this. Here is one of many I have read. We haven't been hit yet but I made my wife aware of this and we check our statements carefully just to be safe.

Yes. It is very widespread.
The article you link was linked by the krebs article if i recall correctly.

here there is a 20+ page thread about people getting this fraudulent charge.
Only one person in there asked about mfc that I noticed.

I'd say its likely that the weblearn people purchased stolen credit cards from multiple sources.
This doesn't mean netbilling isn't the source of my compromise. When people say they have a card they only used on mfc/netbilling and the number was stolen, the list of places to look is quite short. (in my case I have used the card a couple other places).

One of my credit cards allows single use / single vender numbers. I might have to start using that.
Problem is, its the one card without reward points :mmad so i dont really want to do that.
