Got my solar eclipse glasses ready for tomorrow! I'm also excited to be watching the Perseid meteor shower Wednesday night! I love summertime...

Oh ty! I don't pay attention to anything much lately, so I probably would have never known. I might be too deep in the city lights for the meteor shower, but I do have eclipse glasses sitting somewhere!

I know there will be all kinds of live streams happening for both events:

Seeing shooting stars from my suburban area (where there are street lights and lights from neighboring houses 🙁👎) last summer was cool, but seeing them from outside an Airbnb in Merritt Island, Florida (much darker sky there) was way better. I really wish I was back in a glamping tent at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park for this event, because that's a certified dark sky park...and the starry sky there is out of this world. See what I did there? :giggle:

I don't know if there are any New Yorkers here, but I found out last summer that a good dark sky in New York is all the way out on Montauk, Long Island...right outside of the Montauk Point lighthouse. I was able to look up and see The Milky Way!

My brother got married on Maui in August a few years ago. After almost 20 hours of flights, getting a taxi to the condo, walking down to the water with a beer on the deck and watching the Perseid shower on the first night was unreal.
