OK Parental Alienation Awareness Day is April 25th
Here is a list of events
There isn't any going on near where I live sadly. So I'm thinking about doing a fund raiser on MFC for that day. All tips will be donated The National Fathers Resource Center. But I don't know if that's such a good idea. For one, I know that people come to MFC to escape the bull shit of everyday life and want to have a happy, sexy time and enjoy themselves; so I don't know if the subject will be looked at as a "boner killer" and actually drive people away. And secondly, I don't know if that organization would necessarily appreciate a camgirl promoting them on her cam show.
I want to do something to contribute to the cause, but don't want it to backfire in a negative way.
Any thoughts?

Sadly, fathers too often are given the short stick in custody cases and/or don't take the responsibility to be good fathers. So, I like attention being given to this issue. I wish everyone could have a good father and mother like I was priviledged to have. This might also awaken some members to their kids.

Oh, wow, that's my son's birthday...lol.

That's really thoughtful of you. :) If you do it, just be prepared for some guys to ask you "Why is this important to you? Did a parent alienate you?" and expect to hear your life story.

If you're really worried about whether or not you should do it, maybe just casually mention in your chat (and on Twitter) that a portion of your earned tokens will be used towards the cause.

Personally, I think it will likely backfire despite your good intentions. It's one of those private matters that should be left up to the families and not exactly something people want to think about while on a site like MFC.

Promoting it via signature line, profiles, and social media sites like Twitter... :thumbleft:

:twocents-02cents:

I have my reservations on the idea - it sounds good in theory, but I doubt it'll work in practice simply because the type of members who do tip on MFC aren't usually the ones who like to donate to charity - especially one about spousal abuse. They already get enough of this at home; to bring it into a fantasy is probably going to be a bad idea.

I had to vote "I don't know" because I really don't know if it will backfire or be positive. Probably both. No matter what we do in life, and in public, some folks will love you for it and some will hate you--often not because of what you've done but simply because they like to hate. I say, as someone who usually votes for logic and rationality, go with your heart. If it's a cause you really care about, screw the haters, do what you want. Thoughtful people, who are the only ones who matter, will support your caring.

I do appreciate the sentiment, but kindness alone doesn't pay the bills. The thing that concerns me is the fact that people may be put off tipping from the presence of these causes.

I'm guessing more will feel positive than those that feel negative; in fact, I'd guess that the ones who feel negative about a non-political cause are not people who would tip anyway.

Heck, even if a model supported "Save Our Slime Molds" I wouldn't be put off; merely amused. I'd probably tip in glee. lol

A cam girl's blog is the perfect place for a model to post details about her interests outside of camming. If your room count decreases dramatically when you talk about politics, don't worry...you can use your blog/Twitter/FB page to express yourself on that subject. When a guy REALLY wants to learn more about a model, it would make sense for him to read her blog and her Twitter posts.

I think it'd be cool to mention it in your ACF signature, your e-mail signature, on Twitter (update your Twitter profile so the URL is shown on your profile), and your MFC profile's About Me section. As for your room topic, maybe put something like "Help me support an important cause...see profile for info." That way, guys who are curious can visit your profile for the details, and it won't really disrupt your sexy public chat groove (I guess 'groove' is the word I'm looking for).

Yups! Plus when a model does more than just act as a "sex object," I think it enhances her as a Real Person and that makes her more inviting than just a pretty face/body/etc. No model can be perfect for everyone, but being really human makes her a better all-around entertainer.

I think this is the perfect compromise....and besides, you can always donate your tips to the cause no matter if they know it or not. It is YOUR money that you have earned and you can do whatever the heck you want with it. :twocents-02cents:

I do successful charity shows often...

I would not advise you do this.

It's too much of a political issue. I was all excited about doing a fundraiser this month for pitbulls. And my room knows im a dog lover, knows i love pitties, knows... all this. And yet when i mentioned it i STILL got shit about pitbulls being bad dogs.

Instead I reccomend raising money for charities that almost everyone will support. Cancer. Animal Shelters. Earthquake/disaster victims.

And to those thinking the guys on MFC will not tip for these shows they WILL and DO. You need to publicise it well, be prepared to explain why its important to you etc and I highly reccomend making the donation PUBLICALLY when you get paid. I do mine online with the cam focussed on the page when i make the donation online - and i screenshot.

Do a wall of heroes etc..something like that.

That sucks that you caught shit about wanting to help pit bulls. It's so irritating that they've gotten such a bad rap. I have an albino red nose pit. She is just the most gentle loving dog I've ever had, but because she is a pit, my neighbors hate on her and find any reason to complain about her. Hell, I even had to lie to my apt. manager and tell her that she is an Argentine Dogo (a breed that looks almost just like mine) because the property insurance won't cover pit bulls, and it's like that everywhere.

Back on the subject of fund raisers... You see the thing is, I feel like I'm obligated to contribute to this cause specifically though. I feel wary about telling too many details about why, only because it involves people other then just myself. Let me put it to you like this, I feel like I owe it to my step son and my late husband, to not bail out on this cause.

I'm probably gonna go with what Brown_Fox suggested. I think that is probably the best happy medium.

I do appreciate everyone's feedback on this, THANK YOU GUYS! :-D

Whether or not it would be successful, I cannot say. What I can give you is my own personal opinion/experience.

I have tipped for charitable causes a few times. Every time it was to a model whose room I do not frequent, rather on days when I have just been browsing the site. Ended up in rooms where the topic was all/portion of today's tips got to XYZ charity. Thought, that's cool, tipped a few tokens with tipnote here's a small contribution, good luck & have a great day. (The thought has crossed my mind that I could have been duped, not knowing the model & all, but these were medium to high camscore models, so I take my chances that they're honest).

Of course wouldn't tip for someone raising money for the KKK, New Black Panthers, or any political party. And personally, I don't see this issue as overtly political. Mine is the opinion of one, I do NOT presume to speak for anyone else.

I think this is a really great cause and honestly one that many members on MFC could probably relate to on a very personal level.
It is however a very sensitive subject for many dads struggling to keep relationships with their kids and could be too sensitive for the chat room.
I like the blog and twitter idea though!

Yeah, I wouldn't do it. There are enough retards on MFC without having some fucknucle espousing tough love "my daddy slapped me black and blue and I can out fine!!! (twitch, dribble)" or and complaining about child support "ex-wives are the highest paid hookers in the world because you keep paying them even after they leave you" (That gem came from my next door neighbour while he was lamenting that his son went to jail for beating his wife).

Great idea, and it really needs support, but MFC is not the venue for it.

As a parent that had sole custody, I can appreciate the thought behind your effort... That said.. IMO, it has a strong potential to backfire. As stated earlier here, this is a very private matter and the focus brought to it on a sex site most likely wouldn't be a favorable one, especially if it was viewed by "the other side of the mirror".
