Three and change years in and I've somehow never been recognized, or if I have, no one's brought it up. Also a resident of a major metropolitan area. I am out to my parents and to my social circle, and do not ever see myself pursuing any sort of desk-jockey career, so I am fortunate enough that it does not matter. I also have zero online presence aside from this, which helps. Bawksy's wakeup call thread (I believe it is stickied?) is a great read for girls concerned about privacy.

Reactions: THE MOLLIE MARIE
I've had a few recognize me in the last year or so. Which really doesn't bother me as someone had already mentioned I stopped having the energy to lie to anyone about it a while ago so my family and the few close friends I keep know already. One issue it seems is that in some cases not only do people exaggerate or maybe they just plain don't know the difference or care to find out actual details so there are a bunch of people in my hometown who think I do porn haha. Not really an insult or a bad thing to me just funny more cause I'm a non explicit model. But eh. That and the ones who don't understand the safety issue. That's the only thing that makes me nervous ever, luckily never been called out by real name in my chat where anyone noticed. My real name is one of those super oddly spelled looks like it could be a typo types and I'm good at playing it off or ignoring it entirely, I'm known for missing a line or two of chat from time to time with my ADD and scatter brained anxiety. The other crappy situation is when someone knows you, politely pms to let you know who they are(similar story to Ambers) and then basically treats you like you are their very own freebie sex bunny because they know you....obviously you don't know me well enough to have respect. But whatever. I just ignore those people.

IRL I look like a legitimate troll. Not the internet kind. The fantasy live under a bridge ogre kind. Like a horror version of Shrek. I feel because of that I have been lucky enough to not be recognized. I would feel such shame if someone could connect my pretty cam self with my ogre RL self.

I love all of your stories! I'm glad I haven't seen more horror stories.. That's my fear : ( I'm soo new at this! I've only been doing this a few weeks now, but a lot of my friends are very open cam girls... I have a feeling I'll end up meeting more than one person who's seen me naked online sooner rather than later aha. I'm not keep anything too secret, so I don't think I would mind at all.. Unless things got creepy :/

I did happen to cross paths with someone who use to go to middle school with me way back. On MFC.

Were facebook friends and everything. So I would say were pretty close.
The thought has crossed my mind a few times, but I don't think I would actually say anything unless were she was like a best friend or something,

I've never had anyone on camera tell me they "found" me. But, a few of my husbands friends and music colleagues have followed me on Twitter. None of them has said anything. I don't know if they realize who I am. They're weirdos. My dude is a weirdo. They probably just expect that I am too and didn't think much of it anyway. The only unfortunate person to find me on Twitter is my adult Stepson. Awkward. He's also not said anything to me personally. Only to my husband. My Twitter doesn't have explicit photos. So, I just tell myself he didn't click any links.

I was first ~found~ about a year after camming. A guy I went to high school with messaged me on FB asking me about some site he was chatting with some girl on. I had no idea what he was talking about so I told him that. He said he was only asking because he saw me on there. It ended up being one of Streamate's white label sites. I asked him to not spread the info around, he said he wouldn't, and hasn't bothered me since.

For a while I had an online dating profile up. Knowing the risk, I put a location close enough to where I live to meet people nearby but not my actual city. Thankfully... because I had at least 3 guys message me either on there or on SM either saying they knew it was me or asking if I'm "Audrey." I also didn't list my real name in my profile nor would I tell anyone it until I had messaged them for a while. They were all cool and I never heard from any of them after the initial message. (I think I only admitted it to one guy and just lied to the others. I deleted my profile shortly after. :bag:)

My friend's brother messaged me one day saying, "I didn't know you liked candy canes," and linked me to a video of me on a tube site using a candy cane dildo ha. It was awkward and only got worse because he wouldn't drop it even after I repeatedly asked and eventually told him it was turning into harassment. Like he'd post pictures of candy canes on FB and tag me. I blocked his ass.

The most recent time was someone coming into my room and greeting me by my real first name. I'm pretty sure it was a guy I used to date and apparently it's a good thing we're not anymore if that's the kind of person he is. The way they spoke it was obvious they were fucking with me and weren't just clueless about using real names. I played it off while banning them. Luckily I get so many people calling me by a name that isn't my real one or Audrey that it's not too bad, although still rude af.

That reminds me of all the people who would come into my room on Chaturbate with "hi Linda" "hey Carol", etc, trying to get me to slip up and correct them with my real name.

Ha. I'm just going to point out that my name is Saffron and it's even on your screen, why are you calling me Susan.

I was found out about a year and a half into camming, but it was my fault. I was going crazy keeping such a big part of my life a secret so I told a friend of mine when we were drinking one night. He was one of my best friends at the time and I thought I could trust him with anything. He acted so understanding and interested and kept swearing up and down he wouldn't tell anyone.
About a week later I was driving to the store when my other "best friend" at the time texted me and said that 3 different people just sent her a link to a video of me masturbating (tube site video of a goldshow). I called one of the people who sent it to her and he said that he got it from 4 other different people. I'll never forget how much I was shaking in the car and having to pull over in a parking lot to cry. Tons and tons of people were posting things about it on Facebook and Twitter. Vague but really fucking mean things. The one I remember on twitter the most was some girl going "Hahahahaha oh my god! EW how desperate and gross can you be lmao" And 4 different people favorited it and two other people replied like "Hahaha I know what youre talking about so fucking funny". This went on for probably 4 weeks. I was holding a friends phone when she got a text from her ex boyfriend saying "Lol yeah do me a favor, if you ever get that desperate just ask for a loan". I also was doing clips4sale at the time and some chick who I always hated in highschool tried buying my taboo daddy clip. I messaged her on facebook and made her feel like an idiot because she didn't realize I can see who buys them. She was all like "Oh my god me and boyfriend were just super intrigued and I'm not judging you at all blahblahblah". No bitch I'm not dumb, you were buying that to show to everyone. To make fun of me. She was also one of the many people who posted shit on twitter.
My "friends" would go out and every single time would have atleast 3 people ask them about "the video". No one ever approached me about it. But they would point at me in public and whisper to each other. Which was even worse. My whole entire hometown made my life a living hell for almost a month. I thought it was just my town that knew, then my "best friend" was getting snaps and texts from guys in other nearby towns saying "Haha heard Taylors famous now" and shit like that. So yeah. Basically my whole county I feel like found out.
I was 20 when that happened, kinda fresh out of highschool so everyone was still pretty "involved" in gossip and living at home still. The highschool I went to was incredibly drama based and cliquey and just mean. So when this came out it was like people were obsessed with it and obsessed with being able to tell their friends about this "crazy new drama with this chick from highschool".

But, it honestly changed my life for the better. I moved out of that town to another one about 40 minutes away. I have the most AMAZING group of friends now. Like real friends who really love me. My roomie has known for a year now that I cam and he's supportive and amazing about it. We've made some videos together. Another girlfriend of mine is going to start camming and she's actually texting me as we speak saying she just got approved for SM and MFC! So yay!

Sorry this was super long lol it was a lot to say because a lot had happened. I'm really happy with my life now though, I'm 22 so it was about a year and a half ago. I haven't heard anything about it in forever. I went back to my hometown for this food festival thing over the summer, and had a little highschooler point at me to all his friends yelling THATS HER THATS HER!! And they all stared at me like that was okay or something. I told them to fuck off and left. But that's the only incident that has happened since. I just avoid that hellhole and all is good now :)

Within a week of broadcasting on MFC, recordings of me typing clothed were on tons of tube sites. Because of that, I did have several acquaintances of mine "recognize" me. I've since had similar issues several times over the course of the past 4-5 years. It's just one of those unsavory yet inevitable aspects of camming.

What happened to you on Facebook reminds me about when I posted to to a Facebook group I was in "Do you know of any good camsites? " A 19 year old girl responded to my post "ewww! "That is all I have to say!" Considering her age, that showed her lack of maturity.

Been in and out of camming since 2011.. To this day I have never had someone (anyone's) I know in RL find me 0.0 *thanks lucky stars* with web camming become more and more popular I must keep getting lost in the internet shuffle.. Also my families not really into porn:angelic:
So they say.... :grr:

I've been camming for 3 and a half years and have never been recognized. Or if I have been recognized, I've never been confronted about it. I started off with my state and all adjacent states blocked, but now I don't block anyone. And I have a fairly unique look and live in a city where it feels like everyone knows everyone. I feel like luck and coincidence play into this a lot.

It's gotten worse the last year: One of my pictures was posted on facebook (it was a weird ad about how brazillian women can legally masturbate at work (?) ) not related to me or my cam persona at all. +1000 likes/shares. 2 people recognized me and sent it to my sister (who already knew i cammed so whatevs)
2 highschool people found my tumblr, one a female friend I lost touch with so I was thrilled with that and don't mind lol, the other a really tactless guy who kept reblogging my shit and messaging me using my real name.
I also got creepy tumblr messages from strangers saying they saw me at the _____ store (where I was at) and another email saying they see me around <real town I live in> and wanted to fuck me on cam. Another guy created a whole new twitter to tweet at me asking how I liked the drag races (which was where I WAS AT THE SAME FUCKING TIME I GOT THE TWEET!) O_O I looked around like crazy freaked out.

I feel like members who recognize you mostly don't intend to be creepy but possibly 'starstruck' & not thinking how our privacy is the upmost importance.

My first real experience with that was someone on Twitter tagging me in a tweet going, "Hey I think I just saw you at VERYSPECIFICRESTAURANTSNAME" and I totally 100% had just left that restaurant and hadn't posted about it on social media, not even food photos. I was out with my sister celebrating her college graduation she had just done and was really removed from social media that day. I had to frantically tweet him asking to get a follow back so he could DM me and I had to ask him to take down the tweet. He did, which basically confirmed it was actually me that he saw, and so I politely asked him never to publicly tweet me about anything and to feel free to say hey if he saw me again, but to respect my privacy.

I can only speak from the member side

A few years ago there was a gal from niteflirt that i really enjoyed skypeing with. For some reason I came accross her address with her amazon wish list. I realized she lived blocks away from my house. Kind of freaked me out a little, first I told her about the address on her amazon wish list. After she fixed that I still skyped with her but the anonymity was lost and I was always worried I would run into her at Kroger. Never have.

A couple of weeks ago I was at a coffee shop and I noticed an attractive gal in the corner reading a book. I first thought she was a gal from an office that is a client of mine then I realized I had seen her on mfc. I gave her a smile, like I think i know you but I can not place where. When I realized it was from mfc, i just got my coffee and left. I have not seen her there since. It was awkward and I did not want to say anything to her and make her think I was stalking her.
