I have a lot of emails. My newsletter/junkmail email, my camsite email, personal email, camsite marketing email and so on. Signing in and out to check them all is tedious. TB gave me issues like sending my mom stuff from my cam email (luckily nothing bad cam of it  ) and not completing server deletions. Does anyone want to suggest a client? Thanks!

This will probably get a lot of hoots and hollers, but I have had decent luck with WLM (Windows Live Mail). It will want to install Windows Messenger, Bing Bar, etc., but you can just chose "custom install" to pick and choose what you want.

I have email accounts from 4 different server/domains and it works well (saving your login credentials) with all of them. Do note that it "plays" better with POP3 accounts than with IMAP. I also use it to manage my newsfeeds. It has a lot of features for being free.

The only bugs I have seen are: "sometimes" feeds do not update automatically (just chose "sync feeds), and every once and awhile black bars will show up (restarting the app clears that up). These are known bugs in all the tech forums, and I do not believe there will be another release until WIN8.

All free clients will leave you wanting more. And the free clients will start disappearing (IMO) as everyone wants you to move to web-based clients and cloud storage. Another alternative (c'mon with the hoots) is to get the full Outlook program. Look for a cheap Office or a stand-alone Outlook on eBay. Last time I checked, you could get a Outlook or bundle for $99-$109 retail.

I used the full Outlook, years ago, but quit when I upgraded my O/S and MS stopped support for VBA. Office 2010 has support for VBA again, so I might give it another try.

Im surprised that gmail hasn't come up with something. The only option I have found is to forward everything to one inbox, but that again gives me the issue of trying to send outgoing mail from the wrong email, and I dont want all my spammy things going to my main email and so on.

They won't. Google is one of the biggest drivers of Cloud storage and web apps. Look at their "Chrome Notebook" to see where they want us to go.

BTW, maybe I didn't clarify, but in WLM, I have an inbox for each email address I have. Very easy to switch from one to another and I do not have to login to each one. When I start the app, all email accounts are logged in. Outlook has similar features (and more).

The calendar and scheduling functions are much stronger in Outlook as it has a full functional PIM. You can get a deal and have a few more apps (Word, ect), and get the latest VBA. That could prove useful to you later.

Download WLM (the interfaces are similar), and see if that will work for you. You can also get a 60 day free trial of Office from the Microsoft site.

I bet you will find that WLM will suit (most of) your needs, if not...you can get Office w/Outlook on eBay for cheap.

GMail allows you to configure two options, check mail with POP3 and send as.

The check with POP3 allows you to set up GMail to download mail from other email accounts to GMail, the send as feature allows you to send email as these other accounts through GMail. Just remember to read how to configure it properly so it does not put the "send on behalf of" text in the email.

Just an option to help centralize your accounts.

That's a good option and gmail is great, but with Outlook you can work "offline". That's one price you pay for being 100% cloud.

My newsletter/junkmail email
Re-guarding spam email. I like to use mailinator.com

Say I want to sign up for a new webpage shady such as AmberCutie.com that requires email verification. I don't know much about the site I think they might sell my email address to others. I don't want to receive spam from them but I might need to actually see what they are sending me.

Solution? Make up a @mailinator address, yeah that's right make it up on the spot, whatever you want.
For an example sign up using jessi@mailinator.com then AFTER you sign up go to mailinator and type in jessi in the 'check your inbox' field. From there you can now read all the emails sent to jessi@mailinator.com they are publicly accessible and automatically deleted after 7 days.

Now say the smart people at AmberCutie.com know about mailinator.com and you don't want them to be able to read your email or send password resets to it just because they can see it. Mailinator has a solution for this too. FIRST go to mailinator before signing up and check the inbox for Jessi@mailinator.com. At the top of the inbox you will see an alternative email address M8R-fx3i5o@mailinator.com. All emails sent to this address will go to Jessi@mailinator.com

Note: Mailinator is NOT secure in any way shape or form. The service is designed to eat spam mail and is better for signing up for sweepstakes and things such as that. Forums and webpages you actually intend to use frequently should not be signed up using a mailinator address.

I just use another free email service (mail.com, etc.), use that account as a corral, then set up rules to forward to the real email account.

I can check that mailbox whenever I want, and all the mail is there.

Yeah that certainly works. I use mailinator when I never want to see an email from them and don't want to sign into something. I use it a lot more often just because I know it is there.

Another thing I like to do with my gmail is append +Whatever to my email address.
For an example. If I sign up to a webpage I can use MyEmail+shadypagename@gmail.com
gmail will ignore everything after the + character in your email address and sent your mail right to myemail@gmail.com.

Then later if shadypagename starts starts to spam you or ends up selling your email address. You can not only filter out all those emails seperately but you know who it was that sold your email address. Only downside is it sometimes gets difficult to remember what sites I used a + extension. And some sights consider it an invalid email address.

I personally use disposable email addresses on sign-up websites so if I receive spam, I just delete the address. Mail forwarding tends to work, but I can definitely see why you don't want to accidentally mix your identities together. Hmm.

EDIT - I would suggest against Outlook. It's bulky, clumsy and frankly unsecure as a email client.

I was going to suggest MD 20/20 from the topic thread, or maybe Boone's Farm.

I don't have much to add in terms of advice (I use the Gmails) but this made me laugh really, really hard.
